New Games This Month: Sept. 2008
Wow. We know we talked about it in our weekly new games post, but the fall is in full swing. We're featuring 17 big releases this month, and we didn't even have room for all of the ones we wanted to talk about. Is the first time we're going to go broke in September?
By the way, we're not complaining.

It's already September?
Everything is going so fast.
Tiptup300 @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:14PM
ROOOOOCK BAAAAAND 2!!!!!!!!!
Haggard @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:08PM
I was gonna pick up Mercs 2 (comes out on the 5th here in Europe) but the reviews have convinced me otherwise. Similarly Spore doesn't appeal to me. Still, at least there's Crysis Warhead. S'only £15.
Professor Lario @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:25PM
Hercule Perot!
Tyson @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:09PM
You forgot Viva pinata: trouble in paradise.
Duke @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:12PM
Yeah, I noticed that too. How can they dis the Pinatas?
baby sea tuna @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:17PM
Is it out? I went to Best Buy at lunch, but they didn't have it. :(
Zertoss @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:24PM
It ships today, so retail stores probably won't have it out until tomorrow.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:29PM
I loved the first Viva Pinata, and I will eventually pick the new one... but...
Is Party Animals a good game?
I saw the game in downtown at $15... should I pick it?
Steven M @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:35PM
party animals sucks ass, its like a shitty kiddier fuzion frenzy except even worse.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:36PM
Well... good to know.
I better pick some Wii Points. I need Super Mario RPG.
Duke @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:38PM
Yeah that title was just a mini game set for family play. Its funny to play, but gets old real fast. Its not the same kind of idea as the other VP titles.
Dirty @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:42PM
those damned "shipped" dates piss me off.
Duke @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:11PM
Im grabbing Lego Batman, Silent Hill, and the Viva Pinata that you didn't have on the list. (The 360 one.) All three look like lots of fun.
LeMuRfArT @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:11PM
its going to be a good holiday season
AwesomeTown @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:12PM
Rock Band 2. That's it for me this month unless I feel like picking up Dragon Quest, but I might be too busy.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:13PM
Dragon Quest IV, Rock Band 2, Wario Land and Sonic Chronicles for me this month.
I was planning to buy the Star Wars game, but I didn't like the demo.
Maybe Legendary, depending on the reviews.
baby sea tuna @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:24PM
What didn't you like about the SW:FU demo? I definitely got a maniacal glee out of repeatedly punchfucking stormtroopers to death with giant crates and starship parts. I figure that if Dark Sector's glaive gimmick didn't get old, this "force" thing might just stay fun the whole game.
Of course, for that, I'll need documentation proving that George Lucas was "forced" to stay 500 feet away from this game throughout the entire development cycle.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:28PM
It was fun, yes, but I have a feeling that is going to be very repetitive.
Don't get me wrong, is not a bad game, and probably will pick it, but not at $60 dlls. Maybe at $30.
But my gaming priorities for this month are two RPG's: Dragon Quest IV (I never played it before) and Sonic RPG.
And Wario Land looks simple amazing.
baby sea tuna @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:30PM
Fair enough, that's exactly how I feel about Wario Land. $30 is definitely the sweet spot for that one.
Zertoss @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:38PM
Wait. What button combo is punchfucking? I must have missed that one.
samfish @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:15PM
Just Wario Land and Sonic RPG for me.
...ok, fine. Probably Lego Batman, too.
giantenemycrab @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:17PM
Boy, am I glad my birthday is this month!
Zertoss @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:33PM
I'm also celebrating my birthday this month, but I've already preordered everything I want. I'm difficult to shop for. ;)
giantenemycrab @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:19PM
After looking at the gallery, I saw that Rock Band 2 is on there and it says it's coming out for "multi" platforms. I thought it was just coming out for the 360 this month, then the others next month.
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:26PM
That's at least one game I'll be torrenting on the 5th of September.Fuck EA and their DRM.
baby sea tuna @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:28PM
^ Part of the problem.
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:35PM
What if I told you that I went as far as having it pre-ordered, but I cancelled it all when I've learned of DRM?
If anybody is the part of the problem, it's EA and their practices.
Zertoss @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:44PM
But pirating software just encourages them to put even worse DRM in their products.
Don't expect them to ever get the completely obvious hint that DRM only hurts legitimate customers, they're under the spell of the snake oil salesmen's pretty words.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:48PM
Hate to say I agree but yeah, I agree. I WAS hyped about Spore, bring it on, fuckers and all that. But then they announced the DRM. Here's the problem, it's EA. EA is notorious for cutting the ties a month after release. Try getting support for ANY command and conquer game that isn't Red Alert 2 right now (and even then, they'll just give you a release date). Now their game is dependant on a DRM system... and do you really think they'll care if that system goes down in 2, 3, 6 years down the road?
While I won't torrent the game (I hate to be a number they can use to say "see? This is why we do this.), I sure as fuck won't be buying it either. I have big problems when somebody calls me a thief after I gave them $50 and that's exactly what DRM is.
Vcize @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:11PM
Naked Peach fight!
CJLopez @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:45PM
we just need samfish to enter the brawl and.......
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Sep 2nd 2008 7:19PM
Downloading now...
baby sea tuna @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:28PM
Is it true that we can't port our characters and bands from RB over to RB2? It'd suck to have to remake Kratos, Solid, and Naked Snake again...not to mention my original creations.
Steven M @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:33PM
Rock Band 2, The Force Unleashed, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, and Crysis Warhead. Big month, I hope October is pretty empty so I can have more time to play these.
Steven M @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:37PM
and viva pinata trouble in paradise for the 360
Boffo the Sock @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:05PM
I'm afraid that your hopes for an empty October are going to be dashed into millions of tiny pieces.
Steven M @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:27PM
hahaha. i just went and looked at a list of the games releasing in october. fallout 3, little big planet, far cry 2, fable 2, saints row 2, dead space, Command and Conquer Red Alert 3, Guitar Hero World Tour, and then novembers got gears 2, resistance 2, and tons more.....i gotta find time to play em all......at least itll be fun
MetalGearsOfSolidWar @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:34PM
I already have Infinite Undiscovery, I skipped school for it. Everything is awesome but the battle system is meh ok I guess.
GoldenS1104 @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:35PM
So many games I need to get eventually. I can't say I'm gunna get half of them when they actually come out. My wallet will be bone dry. Luckily my birthday is in November :).
C.A. @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:40PM
I say goodbye to everyone as I plan on staying in my room for quite a bit with Warhammer Online. I have some high hopes that it will fill the gap in my heart from WoW.
zombienutz @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:41PM
I would like Spore, Warhammer Online, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. There are to many game coming out in the next few months.
Mr.ESC @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:43PM
F*ck I have to go to Canada (Buisness class FTW) later this month so no new games for a while except for Gears 2.
Fenix @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:48PM
No new games for a while?? WTF!!? Are you cra...oh, except for Gears 2. I see...
All is forgiven. :)
Mr.ESC @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:16PM
Yeah the obligatory killer app and maybe LBP for Christmas.
I better clarify my statement. I didn’t mean “F*ck I have to go to Canada” but “F*ck my pockets will be empty after I return from Canada” mostly because I like to explore museums and stuff now that I hope this doesn’t turn out like my last trip to Boston.
The museums were pretty much tourist traps and in Harvard people acted in this particular manner which I depict as a state between acting pretentious and being constipated.
The convention itself was a snore fest and I they didn’t showed anything “New or exciting” (Yes I’m bringing that phrase back) and I had this feeling people wanted to kick my ass for some reason although I met some cool guys from Canada, Japan and the U.K.
The MIT was pretty neat I guess and there was this Celtic restaurant with really good food but I don’t plan to ever come back there unless is for getting some kind of degree in the MIT for mere prestige but I’m talking about a few years in the future because right now I have tons of work to do.
Oh yeah I went to Salem and that was the best part of the whole thing.
(Even more off topic:I typed Came and suddenly the Spellcheck change it to I CAME,I don’t know what that was
xGeneral DEATHx @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:33PM
Easy, Fenix...easy...
Fenix @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:38PM
What? I said all is forgiven :P
theturtle363 @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:51PM
Celtic restaurant? Do they serve anything besides alcohol and corned beef & Cabbage?
Dirty @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:53PM
No one seems very fired up about force unleashed
It looks like a solid rental to me..
theturtle363 @ Sep 2nd 2008 6:26PM
I'd be more excited if everyone else was enthusiastic enough to read a several max character posts all about my extreme obsession with Star Wars
