Gun-toting xenophobes, rejoice! Sony has confirmed that
Resistance 2, much like
all games ever, will have its North American release in the alarmingly crowded month of November -- the 4th, to be exact. Insomniac's ambitious first-person shooter will also arrive in the company of a fancy,
$79.99 collector's edition, complete with the usual making-of videos, art books and snarling statuettes.
If you're the impatient type who simply can't wait to take some shots
with at a digital Chimera, you'll be pleased to note that Sony has a multiplayer and co-operative public beta planned for early October. To gain "guaranteed access," you'll either have to pre-order
Resistance 2 at Gamestop, purchase an annual subscription to the PSN's interactive magazine
Qore, or simply purchase Qore Episode 3. There's a free option too --
register here -- but it does not guarantee entry to the beta.

R2 and G2 will be the only games I play on Thanksgiving break. November FTW, not to mention the games coming out on Oct. 21st.
So many games, so little time, come Thanksgiving and Christmas break. My life will be devoted to gaming.
Fox318 @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:18AM
You forgot Left 4 Dead.
dsr7997 @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:05AM
Bastards! Gears 2 and Resistance 2 on the same day?! Oh the humanity!
chad @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:57AM
Gears 2 is being released on Fri, 7 Nov for some reason.
JoeTheBlow @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:06AM
I know its been said before, but holy shit thats gonna be a busy week.
I'll have barely made a start on LittleBigPlanet, have set up the drums in Guitar Hero:WT, Got past the first level of Dead Space, and looked longingly at the shrink wrap on the Fallout 3 box.
Fuck.
SilverWolfe @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:09AM
Frickin' sweet. I can't wait to dig into this game, Insomniac hasn't let me down before and everything about this game is looking AMAZING.
wicko @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:15AM
You can't register through the free option because its for invited participants only. Says you need to wait til its open for the public, which probably won't be until when the beta actually starts.
Fenix @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:17AM
Hey guys!
Fenix's Wallet here, just wanted to say a quick FUCK YOU game Co's!
Fuck you in your ass!!
Obie @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:44AM
I know, right? Another crowded holiday. Why don't they space these things out?
Fenix @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:52AM
Seriously though, I'm not just bitching cuz its the cool thing to do. I want my games spaced out for financial and for personal reasons. I like to dedicate myself to one games campaign/story at a time. Things are already going to start getting hairy this month with SW:TFU, PURE, and Inf Undiscovery. Then next month and into the rest of the year is a huge clusterfuck of gaming. Very good problem to have I guess =/
Vcize @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:13AM
I've been taking the "space it out myself" approach with single player games lately. Works out even better because you can pick up a lot of the games when the price has dropped quite a bit, and this holiday should bring in enough games to last well into next year.
That's not even considering that I'm still not even caught up on what's already out.
Haggard @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:26PM
Exactly, I had craploads to play this time last year, and then for the first 7 months of this year I've just been playing TF2 and rock band..
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:38PM
"I want my games spaced out for financial and for personal reasons."
Religion forbids buying later? Just curious.
Fenix @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:00PM
I said personal, as in personal preferences. Not religion ya silly sally :)
j.howlett @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:35AM
time to start making tough choices. what games to get day one, which to wait for holiday sales, and what games can wait for a few months.
MetalGearsOfSolidWar @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:43AM
PS3-LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, KillZone 2, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, HOME
360-Gears 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vespera, Last Remnant, Fallout 3, Saints Row 2, Left for Dead
Wii-LOL
DS- Castlevania Order of Esclavia, Sonic RPG, Chrono Trigger
PSP- Importing from Japan
Its seem that the almighty Wii will fail this Fall/Winter.
Fenix @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:57AM
"Wii-LOL"
Yeah......that caught me off gaurd.
Literally LOL'd, thanks!
:)
j.howlett @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:01AM
while i to anticipate the arrival of HOME, it's not a game and i don't think there is going to be a charge for it. that be like listing a dashboard update or free wii channel
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:20AM
i wouldnt really consider HOME a game. and i was going to say that KZ2 is set for February but i guess you did mention Winter too.
still lol @ the Wii-LOL. i tell you, if it wasnt for the summer gaming drought and Wii BC for Gamecube games i wouldnt touch the thing at all. i never had a Gamecube so im playing games i missed when i find them for cheap. playing Pikmin currently.
jimmygotsmack @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:29AM
There was still that Wario game, but still, I agree, Lol.
Isn't Mirror's edge and dead space multi? I'm actually hyped for little big planet, and everything you had for 360, and the new ds Castlvania.
jron @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:44AM
election day...
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:48AM
That's some bad marketing.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:15AM
piss poor marketing. releasing your top 2 games of the holiday season within 2 weeks of each other. i didnt expect Resistance 2 until around the end of November near my birthday. how many impulse gamers are going to want to drop $120 on two games in two weeks? i almost hope they delay it a bit.
Haggard @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:28PM
I think Resistance is aimed at people who like games enough to want to buy two per holiday season.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:13AM
that is incredibly too close to LBP! so i get 2 weeks with LBP and then i have to discard it for Resistance 2 (which i am admittedly more excited for). and its gotta really suck for people who own PS3 and 360 since Gears 2 drops the same day.
oh and i already preordered R2 at GameStop like a week ago, so how do i get my beta code? can i just walk in there and ask them for it or something? argh so many questions!
brickwalker0 @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:39AM
yes they will give you a slip that has the key on it as soon as they get them in the store.id give it a week then call and ask them.
tmmoore_nc @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:36AM
Does it deter the Gears hype or does it die because of the Gears hype?
Hyams @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:40AM
Different platforms. PS3 owners will buy Resistance and not Gears; 360 owners will buy Gears and not Resistance.
(Multiplat owners get to be poor.)
Vidikron (FU) @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:48AM
Like Hyams, I doubt they will affect each other that much, but if there are any negative effects I've got to think it's R2 that will have them. GOW2 is going to be way more hyped. I personally plan to buy both (I'll be in the poor multiplat catgeory).
MetalGearsOfSolidWar @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:07PM
@ jimmygotsmack
Mirror's Edge and Dead Space are lead platform on the PS3. Which is why I listed them.
Just like Fallout 3 is taking lead on the 360. As well as Saints Row 2.
MetalGearsOfSolidWar @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:12PM
Replace HOME with Valkyria Chronicles. I'm hyped for that as well.
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:44PM
Checking with google on "JRPG on PS3" and "SRPG on PS3" turned up in top results "Posts tagged" from ps3fanboy.com. JRPG has precisely two posts (Disgea 3 and Eternal Sonata). SRPG - one post (Valkyria Chronicles). Though wherever I look, Valkyria Chronicles is marked as "Action RPG" not as SRPG.
Still, only 3 games makes me feel sad. And I was hoping to grab PS3 for this xmas...
Organic_Shadow @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:18PM
Confused about the wording in the article. Is co-op not currently accessible in the closed beta? And when they go public beta they'll unlock it? Or is it already accessible, but just not to the public?
I'm in the closed beta and can't get co-op games to connect. But I see rooms with people and can get to the 'respawning in...' screen. Also hear radio chatter.
Night Elve @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:40PM
I feel sorry for my wallet.
StartWars: Force Unleshead | 9/16/2008
Silent Hill: Homecoming | 9/30/2008
Little Big Planet | 10/14/2008
Bioshock | 10/21/2008
Fallout 3 | 10/28/2008
Resistance 2 | 11/04/2008
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 | 11/12/2008
I mean I could skip LBP & Bioshock but the rest are must have for me.
brickwalker0 @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:35PM
how is Pro Evolution Soccer more important than LittleBigPlanet? :(
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:46PM
Did Sony announce any point-and-shoot controller for PS3? Even MS announced one in works.
oldmike @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:52PM
as the gun that came with time something
kind of cool looking but i dont need a gun
i like the old school as is sixis is fine
the PS3 dose not need a mote that gets crappy controls

just curious if you have ever heard of reserving games? technically you are spending $120 in two weeks but if your like me and pre-order when first hearing of games you have plenty of time to stop in and drop $5 and $10 when you get a chance. Right now I have 3 games reserved at Gamestop. All of which are paid for, AND they all come out within a month of each other. R2, COD5, and Socom. I just stop in when I get a chance and give them some cash every so often. It aint quite a hit on the pocket book all at once that way.
