Speaking in an interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki PS3, Square's Tetsuya Nomura allegedly revealed that the company may offer the demo version of Final Fantasy XIII – set for inclusion with the (for now Asia-only) Blu-ray release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children: Complete – for sale separately at retail.
This as-of-yet-unconfirmed news comes from FinalFantasyXIII.net, which, in addition to its translating of the article, reckons that the idea of charging for the 90-minute-plus demo is fairly unprecedented. You know, we could have sworn we saw Gran Turismo 5: Prologue for $39.99 at Target just the other day ...

If you really have that much trouble with the comment system, you could maybe...I don't know....NOT post a comment? Considering how irritable this post seems, it seems like all involved would be happier for it.
Anyway, how many people actually paid for GT5:Prologue? How many idiots are ruining it for the rest of us more sensible folk?

Maybe they could make it where if you preorder the game, you get a demo disc (And your save file carries over).

HAH! Finally!
I've been Nickeled and Dimed before, but never at the same time within the gaming industry. It's about time this industry treats me like a third class whore!

someone once offered to buy my ff8 demo disc even though they had the game for years. they charge more for magazines that come with demo disc. if it was packaged and had a fair price i see no problem buying a physical version of a demo. i wouldn't pay for a download nor the chance to get a download mere days before it was free. but there are people who see nothing wrong with paying a recurring fee to play part of a game they already paid for.

You think you've seen some stupid people on YouTube, and then there's this dumbass... By the way I spend maybe 10 minutes a week on YouTube, so I'm sure there are plenty of people who are much less intelligent.

Well this clearly an attempt to milk the FF fanbase which is huge in Japan and not so much in North America and Europe.
Either that or the production of FF is really expensive and they need all the mula they can get.
If they do it I can already see FF fans falling for the trap while everyone else, unless they have spare change and the demo happens to be dirt cheap, ignores it. I just hope it doesn’t becomes a trend although I have to pay for the Gold service in order to download demos.
They could also release demo for the demo (It sounds stupid but is not like it didn’t happened before) for all of us who still have a functional brain…er…I mean, those who don’t love FF that much.
SE could also start releasing FFXIII in Episodes for a fraction of the full price like Valve.

If it's a dollar, maybe. Otherwise, count me out. Also, other companies better not start following suit if this does go down.

What's up with everyone feeling so entitled? You know that game developers don't have to give you a demo at all right?
