Just say 'no' to Home Beta Injector scam

Defender of the PS3 nation, PS3 Fanboy, has put the kibosh on a nasty little scam capitalizing on PS3 fans desire to get into the latest wave of the PlayStation Home beta. Sony's ninja-like lawyers are already stealthily shutting down the "PlayStation Home Beta Injector Blog," which promised visitors access to the beta ... if they'd turn over their PSN account names and passwords.
Sound shady? Oh yeah. Since doing so would, oh, give the site's proprietors complete access to your PSN account, including your credit card. If you ran across the scam and happened to fall for it, Sony suggests contacting its customer support for help with reclaiming your account.

My injector is no scam......
BTW, is anyone else using Chrome? It's quite awesome, if indifferent.
syrik zero @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:08PM
I have a Mac... It only came out for Windows when I last checked
Foetoid @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:09PM
I am using it right now, for the first time ever, installed it 30 seconds ago. So far, very very impressed. SO FAST OMG.
Mr.MakeItHappen @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:16PM
Yeah I think I may have a man-crush on Chrome. Its so pretty.

Yeah, I'm using it too. Seems decent so far. I miss adblock, but I like the interface.
DangerMouse @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:22PM
I tried it yesterday. I loved the way it functions, but it's slow as hell on my 2.4ghz PC. If it was faster, i'd be using it no doubt.
Drew @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:29PM
@syrik
You are correct sir! But Linux and OS X versions are on the way.
rv @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:32PM
Yes, chrome loads very fast. From the extremely limited usage of it, I can say that I think its faster than firefox 3. Im not sure though. This is only like the 8th page I've visited with it.
rTwelve [xbl:chilblane] @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:41PM
I was going to check out Chrome, but I'm a little miffed but the thing in its TOS that states that anything you enter or search or whatever while using it (including me typing this) can be used by Google for their own own purposes.
Phantom @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:43PM
It awesome ,I just downloaded it . I love the incognito mode , I saw the jokes in there , and it's great for other things too........
Vincent @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:44PM
Sorry but chrome sucks... now, update should fix some problems with it.
Yourself @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:56PM
Just downloaded it today to test. Seemed alright if not noticeably faster than FireFox 3. Kinda ugly though, and it drives me insane having the close buttons on the tabs instead of at right. Don't love the idea of running a Beta release full time, but it'll definitely be worth checking up on when the final release arrives.
Sora @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:11PM
I love how it imported everything from FireFox, and it's so fast, too. I'll stick with FireFox right now cause I need my addons! But, I'll definitely use this when I need some quick page loads, or the incognito mode.
syrik zero @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:15PM
@Drew: Thanks, I'm not in a rush to use it though...
@Yourself: Google doesn't get past beta versions
Slaziman @ Sep 3rd 2008 10:04PM
The extra speed is countered by the extra time it takes to load all those ads. Adblock ftw.
But incognito mode is awesome, I'll be using that to uhh... plan birthdays and stuff. Yea.
Yourself @ Sep 3rd 2008 10:18PM
Yeah good point... Every time I'm on Google video I look at that little "Beta" in the logo and say "what is this, year 4?"
Josh @ Sep 4th 2008 12:55AM
There's no alternative to Adblock Plus on Chrome. That's reason enough to stick with FF.
John @ Sep 4th 2008 1:56AM
My wife was using chrome and really impressed with it until I showed her that I had firefox addons from years ago that do everything chrome does and more.
Plus not haveing a home button irritated her.
I just can't shake the feeling that Google is the new MS, directing you to their partners for searches etc... onlt they don't have the "Evil Empire" stigma that MS had so they get away with it.
vince @ Sep 4th 2008 2:11AM
Tried Chrome but didn't like it. Facebook didn't work properly on it and ran slow.
I'm running Firefox 3.1 beta which I much better I think. Fast too.
Mr.ESC @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:07PM
Those bastards how they dare to scam people.
I can get you into the beta for free and I don't need your pasword or PSN account just your social security number and complete Adress.
You can post it here since Joystiq filter automatically changes every number to X
Look:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.
Xulap @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:20PM
Epic failure.
Mr.ESC @ Sep 4th 2008 1:11AM
Well they are called failed memes for a reason but
YOU NEED JOYSTIQ GOLD TO SEE THIS COMMENT.
John @ Sep 4th 2008 2:02AM
The Memes that don't fail are retarded, it takes special lame to post failed ones all the time.
Keep up the good work
Slayer @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:08PM
That's pretty fucked up. How desperate does one have to be to steal others accounts? Guys like these are fucking scum. >:(
Mr.MakeItHappen @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:18PM
I will offer you a better deal than Mr.ESC. Simply send me $1003.45 and I will grant you instant Beta access. *in my worst salesman voice* Sign up now before the deal ends!
Vcize @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:40PM
They should let this stay open. Anyone stupid enough to give their info to some new, random blogsite deserves to have their account stolen.
Dr. Stabbingworth @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:47PM
Maybe MS can do this to weed out the idiot children on Live.

I know everyone else thinks that scams such as these are so obvious they shouldn't warrant warnings, but it doesn't hurt to spread the word. Plus, I don't think it's fair to assume that if someone else falls into a trap that YOU were "clever" enough to avoid that that person is an idiot. I can think of many respectable I know, either in my family or otherwise, that would be susceptible to many online scams because they are not familiar with the technology, and to call that "natural selection" is not fair. :( My grandpa is a dentist, very intelligent, and a very good person but he was almost victim to a scam because he didn't understand pop up ads when he first used a computer.
Neil @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:50PM
It would only give access to your credit card if you had bought something on PSN. Since there's nothing actually worth buying on there, I think your money will be safe.
LaughingTarget @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:59PM
Screw Home access, I have a great investment opportunity. It's real simple. 5 people just need to give me $1,000. After I hit my $5,000 goal, I drop out and those five people below me recruit 5 people themselves, which give them $5,000. That's a 400% return on your investment. You then drop out and those 5 people each of you recruited get 5 people
Just repeat the process. It's great. I've already got 5 people. I'll give you their address and just send them $1,000 and you'll get an official recruitment package you can use to get your wealth flowing.
What's that? Only after the 13th generation will it require there be 12.2 billion sucker, I mean investors, to support and that's twice the current world's population and 3 times the amount of food that can be grown in the world today, making it impossible to support them? Don't listen to those fear mongers, 400% return!
Psaakyrn @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:21PM
Que "scamming phone operators that account xyz was scammed" scam.
