PAIN Amusement Park delayed, Trophies retooled to be easier

Trophy and PAIN addicts are going to have to wait a little bit longer. The Amusement Park expansion, originally due tomorrow, has been delayed to some time later this month. The reason behind the delay? Well, one part comes from the developers changing Trophy requirements. When the original Trophy list was unveiled, many complained that they were too challenging, and could only be accomplished by those that played the game constantly. "They began to resemble the tedious level grinds in MMOs and not the spoils for being good," the PAIN blog admits. "So we thought rather than making people play PAIN for the trophies, it might be a better idea to let people play PAIN because it's REALLY FUN and let the earned trophies come from that experience."

GOLD TROPHIES

King of Pain: Get All Downtown Trophies plus Trill and Grenade-a-Maid
Affliction Addiction: Get One 100 Million Points in Downtown (Change from 1 Billion)

SILVER TROPHIES

Harder Dick's Balls: Get all of Dicks Balls in the Block Party Dumpster w/o reset
Rodeo Clown: Use Ed to Explode 500 barrels in Clown Toss (Change from 5,000)
Ninja pwn: Hit the Target Stuffed Ninja in every Amusement Park Mode
2 Mill Club: Get "Pain in the Park" and "D-Town Destruction" (Change from 10 Mil)
Trill: Get Painful Bullseye Trophy with Scurv Dogg or Hung Lo add-on characters (Instead of Tosser)

BRONZE TROPHIES

Dude Abides: Use "The Dude" to score 30 Strikes in Bowling (Change from 50 Strikes)
D-Town Destruction: Get 2,000,000 score in Paindemonium and Aftermath (Change from 10 million)
Pain in the Park: Get 2,000,000 score in Abusement and After Hours (Change from 10 million)
Combo Mambo: Get 15x Combo in Paindemonium, Aftermath, Block Party, Demolition (Change from 20x)
Horsin' a Clown: Take the Clown for a ride on the Roller Coaster
Glutton: Make 30 "Eat It!" shots in "Call da Shot"
Constipated: Get 100 Strikes in Bowling (Change from 250 Strikes)
Pain and Mane: Play 100 Games of Trauma or Horse
Attention Spam: Get every type of PAIN (Groin, Head, Arm, Hand, Leg, Foot and Body) combo in Paindemonium, Aftermath, Block Party, Demolition.
Grenade-a-Maid: Get Exploded 200 times with any female launchable add-on character*(Change from 500 times)

i dont think it sony i think it was the people who complained about the trophies being to hard that why it was delayed

and i was complaining a post ago about the delay... really... the ps3 really needs to stop doing this..

would you prefer a castle crashers type screwup where a good amount of people can't even play the online game?

I am so glad they delayed this to make the trophies easier. The original requirements were nearly impossible. I have no idea what they were thinking the first go around.

I'm still frustrated with the fact that you have to buy add-on characters to get some trophies

Well, tbh, I don't think MS has a bad reputation for giving release dates, only to delay them over and over. I do agree though that the whole releasing a game before it's ready (Castle Crashers) is just as bad or if not worse....

Could companies stop releasing a base set of trophies that require add on purchases? For this game its particularly dumb, just because all you're doing is tossing a different character. Why should it matter which character you use? It's kind of similar with Stardust HD in that you have to buy a multiplayer expansion pack for 1 trophy. I understand 360 offers dlc with additional points as well. However that is a clear cut system with each game having a base of 1000 points to reach without any additional purchases. Hopefully Sony will stop this sort of nonsense so that trophies are about hitting a goal in a game and not about helping a company hit their dlc revenue numbers.

have any of you actually played pain? i want to call it "the worst game ever" but that hardly describes how terrible this game really is. i want to take a dump in the developer's mouths for packing this game in free with MGS4 and actually making me play it for all of ten minutes.

Jerses, I agree that Sony needs to stop announcing dates that aren't 100% true, so your statement regarding "Life with Playstation" holds some merit, but the only thing that makes me not agree with it is that it's a free application. It's not costing you anything and your gaming experience is not being held back because of it. If it is, then I have no answer for you other than to continue waiting....

There's no way the delay is from changing the trophies... unless they literally decided to do the changes at the last second. And if that *is* the case, then it shouldn't be more than a week.

Probably longer then a week. Some stuff has to get recoded, then tested out by the dev team. Then sent off for approval from Sony where they test it.

Btw, the post never said how long the delay was, just "later this month" which could be a week.

That's the point of trophies! It's not like 360 where they literally reward you practically 3/4th's of game's achievement points just by playing the game. They are goals that you must mentally be ready for, require some sort of thought process and ones that you actually want to attain. Yes there are some that come easy (hints Bronze), but most are hard for a reason, and that reason is for trophies to actually represent your gaming abilities, not "look at how many points/trophies I've racked up just because I have a lot of money and can buy a bunch of games).

I have a question ... say i don't buy the DLC when it's out .... can i still unlock the downtown trophies .. or do i have to pay for the trophy feature cause if i do then that sucks big time

There will be a patch that contains the Amusement Park add-on and trophy support. You will then have to pay to unlock the Amusement Park add-on. If you don't you'll still have trophy support.

I don't see how trophies are any different than achievement points. The trophies themselves are determined by the game developers, not Sony nor Microsoft. You'd be a fool to think that Sony would have added Trophies had it not been for the runaway success of the 360 and Achievement Points. For the hardcore, Achievement Points became one of the major reasons to get the game on 360 instead of the PS3. Think about it.

The game is good enough for 9.99.
Although the menu is kinda slow O_o

That's a real shame. It would have been appropriate if the trophies were a pain to get.

According to the PAIN blog....

"I am really confident we will pass format testing in the next few days. This means unless you hear differently we will be in the store on 9-11. I will let everyone know as soon as I know but right now things look very good."

Have faith people, the update is done, Sony just has to test it and put it in the store.

Uh, because there is no base 1000 for games? Uh, because the majority of PSN titles require the DLC to get a full 100% (which I guess is the 1000gs Sony variant?)

Warhawk requires you to purchase the Jetpack to get lousy achievements (sorry, I'm going to continue to call them that, Sony!) in it. Same with Pain.

This isn't "OH, THIS IS ADDTIONAL CONTENT!" like Puzzle Quest's Expansion on the 360. This isn't like the DLC 50gs for Mass Effect. You don't get anything ADDITIONALLY added to the list of Trophies. They're already THERE, taunting you to buy stupid DLC to unlock them.

Thanks, but no thanks. Pain already sucks and I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it. But I wish Sony gave me free $10 instead so I could've bought something like the Last Guy or CoD4 maps instead of wasting 10 mins of my life playing a boring flicking sim.

Who cares about trophies? I just want to play the new Amusement Park environment. My son was counting down the days until we could download the new environment and then we just found out it was going to be delayed. Very disappointing.

The wait is killing me slowly. At least give us a confirmation date already.

I think the requirements for some trophies are still nuts, but then, I don't play the game enough to be able to get 100 million points in a go. As far as certain trophies requiring DLC, or the 'update' being delayed.. This is hardly sony's fault, and, as far as I'm concerned, if they want a trophy to require an add-on, who cares. it's not like they are forcing you to buy it. You don't "need" to have all of the trophies. I'd rather purchase add-ons to a game that gets updates and support, and new features, than to buy a game in the store and get no updates and no product support. Can't even count how many games that's happened with. If you think this game is stupid, don't play it.. it's simple.. If you don't like the trophy requirements, don't buy the add-ons. Using that logic, you could argue that it's stupid for Rock Band and Guitar Hero to charge for song downloads, even though the companies would go bankrupt paying the various royalties for all of the music they offer.. At least PSN is free, which is why I don't touch XBL..

Even after the trophy adjustments have been made, these trophies are HARD. VERY HARD to obtain.

OMG ... These trophies are rock hard to get - I played it for like 5 hours and didn't get one trophy (i got plenty of ingame trophies, but none of the stupid main trophies on my PS3).

I thought trophies were to give u an incentive to play the game thoroughly not get thoroughly peeved off cos u can't even get one trophy. I don't expect the trophies handed me on a plate, but for 5 hours work I would expect at least a few basic trophies (i've seen games that u can complete in 5 hours... ie LOST).

The game is a laugh but it may as well not added trophies if they are this silly hard to get.

Some one needs to teach this game producer the difference between fun and fustration.

OMG!! these trophies are impossible! A guide for these would be GREATLY appreciated. (assuming even you guys can get the trophies lol)
