Rumor: New set of 'Mythic' Halo 3 achievements

We have juicy rumor news coming straight out of PAX regarding a new set of 30 achievements worth a total of 750 Gamerscore for a little game called Halo 3. Yes sir, it's time for brand new Halo 3 achievement rumor news!

According to a post over on Ascendant Justice Forums, there will be a new set of 30 Halo 3 achievements that will be releasing in the near future and they even include screenshot proof (ninja-taken during PAX) to prove it. Content that may have something to do with that Halo 3 Mythic rumor we heard about the other day. The achievements, which look to be based on the Heroic, Legendary and (speculated) Mythic map packs, look rather legit seeing that the descriptions, achievement names AND off-screen photographic proof are supplied. But, as is customary with Bungie, we're in the dark regarding how they'll be implemented, whether or not the content has anything to do with the Mythic stuff or even the E3 stuff. That is if this is legit news. Enough speculation, take a looksy a the (rumored to be new) Halo 3 achievement names after the break. Picture "evidence" after the jump.

Theres the proof that its real. And this is from JUNE, before Cold Storage was unveiled.

Hmmm this makes Halo mythic very interesting. Last week i just assumed it was a MP only build with the new map since Mythic is the rumored name for the map pack... but now with achievements im a little more intrigued

I'm not sure, the points seem high for Halo. 25-50 points an achievement? Just seems kind of odd.

Those gamerscore points are way high. I agree.

I may be wrong but isn't there suppose to be 250 GPs with each DLC that comes out?
considering the mythic map pack could be the third DLC, could Bungie be puttiing in 750 gamerscores for it because of the three map packs?

Not quite. The maximum gamerscore that can be added to a retail game is 250G. It's capped at 1250G and 250G for XBLA games.

An extra 750G+ is unlikely for Halo 3 DLC.

dammit! I just got my last achievement in Halo 3 over the weekend. Oh well, I guess it will give me another reason to go back to Halo.

Wow, 750 more points to be had. Whatever happened to the max extra gamerscore of 250 pts? Like Oblivion and others. I thought that 1250 was the cap. Interesting.

Yeah, i always thought that too.

I suppose Microsoft is willing to give Halo a bit of extra room. (if this rumour is true that is)

I'm guessing a new map pack will come out (which will include Assembly and a few other maps) which is called Mythic and will included new achievements.

It is just a halo 3 disc edited so it includes the map Assembly (they couldn't put it on the server) and they edited the title to let people know that the map is called mythic

What, nobody caught on the names of the achievements?

Most of those names are based on Marathon-related elements (i.e. level names, the Vidmaster challenge).

Enjoy the Vidmaster challenge. It's not for the weak.

3 of them are 0 point achievements.

750 points - it's a full expansion then, that you can buy in stores or download off Marketplace, as one did with Shivering Isles.

You could be on to something! My guess is that all the skull achievement's are new maps. IF THATS TRUE, then sandbox probably is the level maker from the award video! Also that's 6 new maps, which is really good for a halo map pack.

Sure the Orange Box had 99, but I thought the policy set by Microsoft was that games could have no more than 1250..So, this is now 1750, are games gonna start having 1500G or 2000G from now on? I'd think it's a bit much just for one game...

Actually, all the skulls basically says that these are new levels to the single player game, and I'm betting it's on the planet you see at the end of Halo 3 on Legendary.

No, they're mp maps. Assembly is a brand new mp map recently announced by Bungie. Odds are that the other skull ach names (orbital, sandbox) are mp maps too.

And too everyone going on about 1250G limit, thats not true, its limited to 250G for each set of dlc. There are 3 map packs (dlc), including the mythic map pack for halo 3, therefore 250x3=750G

I don't think that's the exact explanation, however, I am wondering about the skulls and how they will incorporate them.

Perhaps they will just hide the skulls in the MP maps? Or will they add them to the current levels?

I know other people have been mentioning this before... but I though I would too. So if they add 750 GS, wouldn't that boost it to 1750 GS? And isn't that way above the 1250 GS limit? I don't get it.

Not more cheevos! I already got 1000/1000 on halo 3....I don't wanna have to go back to achievment games. This is oblivion all over again.

And suddenly Halo 3 is again relevant to my interests.

If this also expands the single player camping or makes the Zombie mode avalible in the match list count me in.

Of course that's in the case this is real.

Something nobody has mentioned is the possibility of new unlockable armor permutations. That would be exciting! I've been stuck with 3 achievements to go since I'm trying to do it legit unlike most of the timmies out there.

Bungie already said that new armor permutations are impossible.

I don't understand gamers who go back to play a game, just because of some added acheivement points. It's not like you get anything for having all the acheivements in a game. What happened to the days of playing a game over and over just because it was good times? By the way the Halo games are good enough to play over and over just for fun! At least until COD4 came out........Let the comments begin!

Some gamers (this one included) feel that a game becomes a bit irrelevant once all of the "challenges" have been completed, and no longer find enjoyment in simply going through the motions. Not saying Halo 3, or any game for that matter, can't be enjoyed for what it is (a solid FPS). Just saying that there's a reason I'm still playing COD4 (9th prestige, going for 10th) and not Halo 3 (1000 gs).

Actually you do get the "Katana" when you get 1000/1000 on halo 3.

I was looking for a reason to get into Halo 3 all over again, and this would certainly do it! Hope it's true, or at least somewhat accurate.

People need to read other people's comments before over-reacting. I'm glad we're going to get 750 points worth of achievements for Halo 3 since it's one of the greatest FPS.

I dont see the big f***ing deal with the extra 750 gs, and I think i have like 750 or 725 from halo 3 anyways, I would totally play some more halo 3 mp, if this was true, but not sp, im kinda sick of it

We have confirmation that at very least, these pictures weren't photoshopped and the story is accurate.

A mod on the Bungie.net forums, said he was at the PAX event when this happened. Bungie was starting to clean up the booth. And weren't paying attention. When someone took advantage of the opportunity to check out the Mythic build more closely. People started gathering around and taking pictures. When Brian Jarrad noticed the achievement screen was up, he turned off the T.V completely. And then one of the people who took the pictures asked him if he could post it on the net. He was asked not to. But others had already left and posted them.

But others had already taken pictures and left. That doesn't mean these achievements will be released for the public. But at very least, they suggest to us Mythic will have a whopping six maps.

How much do you want to bet this is going to have something to do with the halo 3 legendary ending where it shows cheif heading towards that planet.

Sounds like a full-fledge expansion pack to me. I hope it is, I'm tired of just playing on "new maps", I want an expansion pack dang it! WE WANT EXPANSION PACK! WE WANT EXPANSION PACK!

God i hope this means expanison pack. But, new mp maps n cheevos are good too. Now it would be really awesome if you would be get recon when you earn all the new achevements.

Agreed the points do seem a bit high. I mean take the achievement, " Came... From... Behind... " for 50points. Using simple logic with the picture beside it, it looks like an achievement for assassinating a group of people, probably not worth 50 points.

i just got all these achievements last weekend now 30 more Omg plus how can you get the 7 on 7 achievement how does that work and the vidmaster challenge are you kidding me thats tough sounding some of these achievements are rediculous for what they expect you to do and you get nothing, but indeed i am looking to the extra 750 G, any news on when they are coming out?

im glad these new achievements are out too i already have 250/750 for them because i cant get the other 500 without the new maps :( i wanna know when these new maps are comming out
