Call of Duty 4 getting double XP Sept. 13-14

When the Joystiq staff goes back to Call of Duty 4, it's usually because we're tired of getting our asses handed to us on a little silver platter in practically every other first-person shooter. Before too long we pine for the one game we've played enough that we're not embarrassed to admit to our team that we write about video games professionally.

But, according to Infinity Ward spokesman Fourzerotwo, we'll have additional reason to go back Sept. 13-14, when CoD 4 will be offering up double XP on PSN and Xbox Live. Come, play with us, and tremble before our staggering (and doubly rewarding) moderate competence.

In rebuttal, if it was all 13 year olds, then the game population would be zero. The majority of people on there just want a good game...it's just the youngins that stick out. Besides, the 1st time GWB was elected, Gore had more votes then him...so...and shovelware sells a lot because of uneducated folks.

I enjoy COD4, it is different to Halo 3 in a good way.

Hey, if I got 7 kills in a row, I earned that goddamn chopper. And it actually takes a mildly skilled player to get kills with an airstrike. You can't just call it in wherever. I don't get how 3x Frags is free kills either... but whatever. I don't bother arguing that Halo 3 sucks, because it's not like I'm going to convince anyone that "oh hey, the past year of my life? yeah, totally wasted, because this guy on the internet doesn't like my favorite game." I jes' ain't gon' stand fer no CoD4 bashin'.

To be honest I only played Halo 3 online for the achievements and I never got 2x1,3 kills with sword (I can't believe how close I was from getting that one and I missed) and 4 kills in Lone wolves.
Then I bought the Heroic map pack to give it some life but what ruined the game for me was the fact that for some reason the game suddenly stopped by the last minute and regardless of my position I always appeared in 4th place which sucked because I’m not that bad at Halo also that it took me 5 minutes to join a match.

In the case of COD4 I stopped when I got the achievements ,I played it online but it suffered from the Current gen syndrome of Brownish graphics that make things really hard to see so I quitted in order to play more TF2 and *sigh Assassin’s creed.

I like both games. I like HALO 3 for the vehicles and team games. I like COD 4 because the weapons and maps. Both have their flaws, both have their good points.

All the updates and things, like this double xp weekend, occur later or not at all on pc. it's like they think that 90% of the pc players are pirates and therefore don't bother. it's that kind of mentality that tempts me to only buy pirated versions of their console games.

at one point i was probably one of the top 100 snipers in the game. None of my friends were playing it any more and i bought bad company, so i put my cod4 career on hold for a while. I hope to later come back and really refine my skills.

I got tired of CoD4 onlinke, so I just stopped playing it. I loved the campaign, and thought it was extremely memorable and perfectly executed, but that was pretty much it. Everytime I played multiplayer, I got paired up with people who have been playing the game since launch, and they are just as rude as people on Halo 3. What really made me quit Cod4 was when instead of answering a question of mine, they just made fun of me, and one even told me to kill myself. But then again, this isn't even a valid arguement, because judging a game by the people that play it is just silly. It isn't a company's fault that their game is played by someone you don't like.

I remember CoD4 online being completely unbalanced, unfair, and nowhere near as immersive as Halo 3. With martydom, choppers, air strikes, random grenade kills, and spawning with any weapon, it felt really cheap.

Halo 3 is more balanced than Cod4, and Bungie is always making changes to balance things out.

I love COD4. Fondest moment ever: randomly tossed a grenade which killed 3 enemies, then another random toss which killed 2 more, called for an airstrike without selecting a target(as I was now being chased by multiple enemies) which killed 2 more, then called in a heli...at which poing I was immediately mowed down. My martyrdom perk kicked in and I killed two more. Couldn't stop laughing...

I enjoy both COD4 and Halo3. For you who say Halo3 is more of a teamwork game and COD4 gives free kills, you are outside you dam* mind. Play a little Team Hardcore Deathmatch and you will learn what strategy is all about. You can't always run and gun like you can on Halo3. Lets, talk about easy fraking kills... sticky grenades, gimme a break. Dual wielding weapons... okay. COD4 = strategy and a need for skill. Halo3 = prepubescent little punks running around talking shit, praying they will be the first to make it to the Banshee so they can splatter you like little f-ing noobs.
