Call of Duty: World at War beta hits 360, PC in October

In what has to be the most totally original pre-order bonus ever, Activision is going to let anyone who "reserves" Call of Duty: World at War into a multiplayer beta planned for sometime in October. Oh, that's everyone except PS3 owners. The beta will be available only on Xbox 360 and PC, giving ~~lucky~~ paying entrants a chance to try out the game's new perks and squad system.

In "no purchase necessary" style, those not feeling the pre-order itch can try their luck by registering for a beta token lottery on the official Call of Duty site – that is if they can navigate through the Web 2.0 minefield of way too much stuff on the page.

Who cares. This title doesn't even look interesting in the first place (NO, I am not saying this just because the PS3 got shafted. If the beta was PS3 exclusive I still wouldn't give a crap). Anyway, Home Expanded Beta, SOCOM beta, Resistance 2 beta, LittleBigPlanet beta, we really don't need any more do we?

Orrrrrr, maybe they received a press release, considering that they announced the release date for the game today as well, which comes out on Nov. 11.

ive sent in plenty of tips and they never post them, it all depends on which one they click on or read. You have to realize the sheer amount of tips they get, and then how many BS tips they get and they probably only have the combined patience and time to read a few

Why don't they just call them god damn demos? Except for Halo 3, none of the games that have had betas would have had time to change anything based on responses

Errm, nowhere does it say there WON'T be a PS3 beta, just that PC and 360 owners have to reserve to get in the beta.

Seems like you persumed that that means PS3 is excluded. Who wants to get, when this eventually comes out in the wash, this article is aload of tripe, and PS3 owners get the beta too via a different scheme.

1st reason) i hate my 360 fan noise
2nd reason) my XBL runs out in december and i refuse to pay any more after that when i can play online for free on ps3
3rd reason) most of my mates are getting it on ps3

This puts me in a dilemma. I love COD4, and if this is a clone of COD4 except during World War II-- I'll fucking adore it.

But Treyarch has sucked historically, so I'm not sure I want to risk a pre-order.

Then is not a clone because COD4 mayor feature was the whole modern warfare thing but yeah CODW@W is using COd4 engine.
