Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars hits DS this winter

During its end-of-quarter financial phone call today, Take-Two confirmed that GTA: Chinatown Wars will be released on Nintendo DS this winter, which, according to its fiscal year, would mean no sooner than November and no later than January 31, 2009. This is the first official word on a release window for the game, which was unveiled at this year's E3.
No further details were provided – one member of the press asked if the game was still due before Christmas, to which Take-Two brass responded, "We didn't say that. We're not confirming that." – so for now we just have hints at Wi-Fi play and some juicy potential gameplay details from a leaked consumer survey to go on.

This could be pretty cool, but I'm betting it turns out like GTA Advance..

and that fear is why my excitement level for this game right now is little to none. we all know what the DS is capable of, and it's certainly not any kind of GTA that we have become familiar with in recent years. i wont completely write it off until i see it in action first, but the pencil is certainly in hand already.

Too much GTA news.... Press release much.

I have a question:
Will this be an actual full-flesh GTA game (similar to portable Ventures like PSP Liberty City Stories & Vice City)? If it's just a spin-off game with no sandbox, count me out.

Could have bulked the GTA news into one article seeing as 50 billion of them are in a row now :| 2 of them were talking about how much money it made, one telling us it made the most, then one telling how much it actually made >_<
I'll give this game a miss though, Chinatown Wars sounds pretty lame, I guess this one will be directed to ages lightly below 18 looking at that name.

Uhh, no it isn't. The game's official website has listed "Winter" as its release date since the day it was announced.

And Nintendo said it was due for Winter back at the infamous keynote

I hope this is like the psp titles since GTA has never had an asian protagonist before and if this is a game with no real plot like the pre GTA3 games, then that would suck balls.

Still doubting it. Unless TakeTwo is for some odd reason emulating Nintendo's current model of holding back gameplay screens or any media at all about the game until the 11th hour, we haven't seen shit about this game
Thief @ Sep 4th 2008 6:29PM
I have still yet to see a single screen shot of this game... did I miss it somewhere?

I thought they clearly stated during E3 that this had a full 3D engine built from the ground up and that it would be a similar experience to the GTA games we see now. I could be wrong though.
