Puzzle & Power Packs: PSN-only games on UMD this Oct.
Despite a higher percentage of broadband penetration in Europe, and the introduction of a PC-based PlayStation Store for the PS3-less, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has still opted to wrangle up the bits of some of the PSP's download-only titles for UMD distribution in themed "packs".
The first two packs (there are "more Collection Packs to be released throughout 2009") are the Puzzle Pack – cramming the mischievous Lemmings with the excitable Go! Sudoku and Go! Puzzle – and the Power Pack – an odd grouping of Syphon Filter: Combat Ops, the more contemplative stylings of flOw, and the rhythm-happy Beats. The Puzzle Pack is slated for a European debut in "mid" October while the Power Pack will come along right behind it, in "late" October. We've asked the fine folks at SCEA to comment on a North American release so, until then, let's just assume this is Europe-only.

I think this is a good idea as some like things to be tangible.

Guess this is good for those that do not have a connection to the store. Still know quite a few people in that boat with PSPs

This is good for people like me who don't have a credit card and can't get a "psn card" if they really exist.

or yeah like me with a macintosh who cant download flow even though i want to
Isn't the psp region free? so i could import these right?

Even though I have broadband, a PC, a PS3, and a credit card, I like the idea of "owning" the games and not just having some piece of "the cloud."

This article misses the proverbial 'forest for the trees'; the point is that PSP's don't have huge honking storage media available to them, and the proprietary Memory Stick storage options out there are exceedingly expensive.

and also getting increasingly cheaper.

I STILL wish the PSP used cartridges... The battery life would be so much better!

The PSP has a great play time. UMD is a good format. It allows for much longer richer deeper media. If the PSP was limited to the same tiny DS format it would probably have the kind of simplistic games that the DS has.

Dear Required: I'm glad you're actually intelligent, unlike the guy you replied to

I really like this idea because I flat out don't trust the PS Store just yet. Hopefully they release some slightly more mainstream titles. Just not sure how expansive they can go considering SS Portable is coming out so they can't through that on a compilation disc.
