See that's the great thing, you can do both! Both are fun! Playing rock band inspired me to take up drumming and singing, and I don't think I would have otherwise.

The loss of the covers isn't that big of a deal, I think, but Enter Sandman? Damn. Quite the blow there. Between this, GH: Metallica, and Death Magnetic on GH3/World Tour, would it be safe to assume that the previously-mentioned single exclusivity is completely out the window?

"but we can probably take a guess as to why Harmonix couldn't re-license some of those tracks."

But...Rock Band 2 has a Metallica song, so if they could license Battery surely they could license Enter Sandman again. Plus, Aerosmith is a go, and they already did Guitar Hero Aerosmith, so I'm saying that GH being the reason isn't so.

Oh, and Run to the Hills, not a total loss. That song kills me on Drums. Overall, sweet deal!

Good point. There's also the possibility, though, that Activision has "Enter Sandman" exclusivity for a future release but did not form an exclusive license (or any license) for "Battery."

Pretty disappointing that I'll have to pop in the Rock Band 1 disc to play Enter Sandman or Run to the Hills...I really liked singing Run to the Hills. =[

But still, I'll spend these 5 bucks for convenience of the other songs.

Losing Enter Sandman hurts, but this is still pretty sweet. Some people have mentioned that we can do it already. What's the process for that?

I'd like to go ahead and do it so I can sell off RB1 while it still has a tiny bit of resale value, since I won't be needing it anymore.

1.52 Gigs, are you kidding me? I'm down to the last 4 gigs and as it is don't have enough space left for being able to rip the game straight to the hard drive when that becomes available!

It's not like you're just ripping some mp3's. In addition to the individual audio tracks for each instrument on the songs, you have the input data, and (possibly the biggest chunk of data?) the character animations synchronized for each instrument on each song.

I feel ya, though. I am running out of space on my 20. Guess I'll do a sweep and delete all the Harmonix band songs to start.

I know, the one system that has ridiculously expensive proprietary hard drives, I could fill up pretty soon. The other system, which uses any generic laptop drive, I don't see myself filling up at all. (Well maybe with game installs...)

I would bet the animations are procedurally generated (at least each song doesnt have its own animations), and therefore take up little space.

I would imagine each track even being an MP3 would account for most of that space.

Don't get me wrong, I realize that they aren't just straight mp3's. It's just the HDD requirements are a bit too much. Like Awesome Town said, I too have a pretty full Xbox drive, but my PS3 with 80 gigs is just dying to be filled. I'm severely tempted to buy a 60gb 360 drive, though it'll make me feel like a chump.

At least the rumors last month of having to rip the disc image in its entirety were false. A gig and a half isn't too much; it should give me the motivation to finally delete that godawful Facebreaker demo.

Am I the only one sad that "Monsoon" by Tokio Hotel won't be on RB2. Not a difficult song to play, but I like the song. That European DLC pack was one of the best IMO. Introduced me to a lot of new music/artists.

According to the press release in the Rock Band forums, that only applies to the European release of RB2 (where it is on the disc, not DLC). It SHOULD work fine in the US. I too will be very upset if it does not.

If you bought it as DLC, you'll still be able to play it in RB2. This only applies to the European disc, and even they can buy it as DLC if they want.

Good - now I won't have to worry about Run To The Hills coming up on random.

I passed it once on expert drum career and will never touch it again.

This is a pretty awesome feature. I've pumped tons of cash into Rock Band this year, but I've never had so much fun playing a video game with friends. Its been well worth it.

Does anyone know if you have to unlock songs to transfer them over? Or do all the songs (except the metallica, Black Sabbath, etc,)from the origainal automatically transfer to RB2
