I just started playing the original and was surprised at how good it was. I think Nintendo would be smart to localize the second game. But, looking at the way the first game was localized, it took an entire year for it reach the states?

I've been wondering about that as well. Though, I do have a stack of those weekly puzzles built up. Maybe I should tackle some of those before asking for localisation of the sequel.

I really miss Luke's 19th Century English accent - actually, I don't. His voice was pretty much a piss take.

No Pandora's Box for you! Seriously though, I'm surprised nothing has been said yet.

If the second is released on the same schedule as the first we could see the Second one in stores for Christmas (that is my hope). But I have a feeling they will announce it in December for another February release.

Oh good, then I'm not the only one who immediately started clicking on every insignificant feature in that picture.

Yeah, I've been kinda wondering about this, too. Granted, it's not the end of the year, exactly, but it's been long enough since the first game's release. I'd think at least a basic announcement stating that it will be coming to the States in the near future would be good enough.

How hard is it to change all of a game's text anyway?

They said the time in translation for the first game wasn't just translating/recording dialog, but also rewriting some of the puzzles that didn't make sense in the USA (puzzles that relied on Japanese cultural references and such).

Time for someone to do a hacky homebrew translation of game 2... ;-)

As we all know, there's somewhat of an inverse relationship between a game's quality and its odds of making it out of Japan. Considering that the Big N itself had somewhat of a hand in Layton and is obsessed with churning out million-sellers, I wouldn't be surprised if Layton's performance was labeled disappointing, even when it didn't sell particularly poorly.

And yes, I'm one of those horrible people who hasn't bought Layton yet. My personal rule is to never pay more than $20 for a puzzle game, so I'm still waiting for it to drop from $35.

My son loves this game, and he his is Pokémon devotee, we play this together, and he got the wolves and chicks puzzle before me... that all said the price was $29 in Canadian dollars, so by the time you read this it will probably $19 US at Wallymart.

Were still waiting on a European release date.

Fortinately, I imported it, so I wont have to wait for the release of 'Professor Layton and the Curiously Late Village'

I've been praying. I'm such a Layton dork.

They've already released some artwork and such, as well as the names of both of the sequels. At least we know there's some work done!
