Joining Hendrix, Ozzy and others, Sting will be walking around the virtual concert halls of Guitar Hero World Tour. According to the press release, you can play as Sting during the vocal career "or play alongside him" in the Police track, "Demolition Man." Additionally, three songs from Tool (who are not bringing their likenesses to the game) have been confirmed: Parabola, Schism, Vicarious.
We now know about 65 tracks of the reported "over 85" tracks. With about seven weeks to go before its October 26 North American launch, when do we get to learn the rest of the tracklist? More importantly, where's our virtual likeness of Lars Ulrich?

Really Sting? really? Do we need this? Where are Andy and Stewart? If it was the full Police then maybe.

I am just curious because I do not play guitar hero but is the likeness of any of these guys going to really add anything to to it. Is anyone now convinced to get this game since you can play as hendrix?

No, but I'm pretty sure that the fact you can play Hendrix's songs as Hendrix sold a couple of people.

Now whoever said that rumoured list was fake because there's no way there could be three Tool songs must be feeling pretty dumb right now...
Personally I prefer the GHWT setlist more, if only because a lot of these songs are my favs.

I also said there would be no Tool. I'm getting both game anyway. I exported my Rock Band songs this morning. Plan to buy Rock Band 2 game and the GHWT package when that is released

when you have a franchise that hardcore fans have turned their backs on, just load up on famous avatars in the game and multiple songs by one artist, that's a way to bring them back in the fold.
Posted: Sep 5th 2008 2:30PM (Unverified) said
Already convinced since I like GHWT difficulty, 5 pads (as oppose to 4), and good Wii support. Accuracy be damned; I always tab my songs like Neversoft chart the guitar.
Posted: Sep 5th 2008 2:38PM (Unverified) said
you get 3 pads and 2 cymbals that can never be anything but cymbals. Though neversoft will probably make them be whatever is convenient at the time, completely stuff the "realism" their kit was supposed to bring.

mark my words, tool will not be in this game

Tool were the ones who told people to pirate 10,000 Days... They have refused to allow their songs on iTunes, i am very surprised at this announcement..

yea, no matter how much i love Metallica( not claiming to be a non-fanboy) you might wanna hear the new album before you bash it. Other than the few singles that have been on the radio its the best cd they've had since AJFA. By that i mean, everything since the black album including the black album has been garbage. But at least go download it and check it out. Its not bad suprisingly

Is this really still a question? You haven't been noticing a pattern in these press releases over the last week or two...?

I'm confused by the headline.
Does it mean, Sting, and the band named "Tool" are joining the lineup of Guitar Hero World tour, or does it mean that Sting is a tool (also true). Or does it mean that Lars is a tool (also definitely true).
Perhaps it means all of those simultaneously?

This sounds awfully like a track pack that could easily be licensed by rock band. I hope so, because guitar hero just isn't as good as rock band.

Down all things Guitar Hero and Rock Band. You people really aren't having fun playing them. It's an illusion. It has to be.

Honestly I thought Guitar Hero was fun, and I believe it left room for a game like Rock Band to be made. The people who keep buying sequel after sequel of the same EXACT game with new songs baffle me. I refuse to pay an extra $60-100 dollars just to play the same game with new music that could have easily been downloadable content in the previous one for a reasonable fee.

You know why I love disc based songs?
Because I can hand them to my friend, and he can play it. When I get tired of them, I can sell them for a profit.
You can't do that with DLC.
Also, new disc-based games leave room for general improvement. Rock Band 2 and GH WT both have considerable improvements over their predesesors, where an online update would just be too big to do reasonably.
DLC is awesome, and I like that you have the freedom to choose the songs you want, but think of the songs you have never heard. If you were to give me DLC Pre-GH2, and let me chose the songs, I would have never picked some of my favorite songs in the game, like Raw Dog and Push Push (Lady Lightning).
DLC + Disc installments is the way to go, and if the DLC works with the other games in the series, it is just icing on the cake!

Damn, Tool in GH. I wish it was some of their older stuff, but hey, this is pretty sweet.
Of course, if Parabol isn't in there, it's just a huge waste.

Guys... 3 songs and a stage devoted to tool were confirmed like months ago long before the rumored setlist. That's old news to me.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. If you look at Rock Bands forums, one of the all time highest forum threads was for Tool in it. They are the single band I've wanted in one of these games for years, and now it's official. I didn't want to believe in even one Tool song, getting my hopes up, but now they have 3 of the damn things. If the rest of the game was just monkeys banging together trash cans I would still pay full price on this thing.
If they place the songs in different number tiers, say 3,5,8 they could keep things in a Fibonacci order as well.

As noted in the press release, but not in the short paragraph listed above.
