Sting, Tool join Guitar Hero World Tour's lineup
Joining Hendrix, Ozzy and others, Sting will be walking around the virtual concert halls of Guitar Hero World Tour. According to the press release, you can play as Sting during the vocal career "or play alongside him" in the Police track, "Demolition Man." Additionally, three songs from Tool (who are not bringing their likenesses to the game) have been confirmed: Parabola, Schism, Vicarious.
We now know about 65 tracks of the reported "over 85" tracks. With about seven weeks to go before its October 26 North American launch, when do we get to learn the rest of the tracklist? More importantly, where's our virtual likeness of Lars Ulrich?

Really Sting? really? Do we need this? Where are Andy and Stewart? If it was the full Police then maybe.
jeff @ Sep 5th 2008 2:27PM
I am just curious because I do not play guitar hero but is the likeness of any of these guys going to really add anything to to it. Is anyone now convinced to get this game since you can play as hendrix?
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Sep 5th 2008 2:37PM
No, but I'm pretty sure that the fact you can play Hendrix's songs as Hendrix sold a couple of people.
LeadBoxx @ Sep 5th 2008 2:28PM
Man I wanted to sing as Maynard and wear a bra and makeup!
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Sep 5th 2008 2:29PM
Now whoever said that rumoured list was fake because there's no way there could be three Tool songs must be feeling pretty dumb right now...
Personally I prefer the GHWT setlist more, if only because a lot of these songs are my favs.
jsn @ Sep 5th 2008 2:35PM
yah I was one of those people. I honestly never believed they'd be so..... desperate.
syrik zero @ Sep 5th 2008 2:40PM
I also said there would be no Tool. I'm getting both game anyway. I exported my Rock Band songs this morning. Plan to buy Rock Band 2 game and the GHWT package when that is released
jsn @ Sep 5th 2008 2:30PM
when you have a franchise that hardcore fans have turned their backs on, just load up on famous avatars in the game and multiple songs by one artist, that's a way to bring them back in the fold.
Jestersage @ Sep 5th 2008 2:30PM
Already convinced since I like GHWT difficulty, 5 pads (as oppose to 4), and good Wii support. Accuracy be damned; I always tab my songs like Neversoft chart the guitar.
jsn @ Sep 5th 2008 2:38PM
you get 3 pads and 2 cymbals that can never be anything but cymbals. Though neversoft will probably make them be whatever is convenient at the time, completely stuff the "realism" their kit was supposed to bring.
Corydbhs15 @ Sep 5th 2008 3:02PM
3 Tool songs? Fuck yeah...
Lewis (RROD: July 16) @ Sep 5th 2008 2:41PM
TOOL? GUITAR HERO? Ah fuck.
fco. @ Sep 5th 2008 2:42PM
*puts finger in Activision's lips*
shhh... you had me at Hendrix..
eddie makuch @ Sep 5th 2008 2:43PM
Tool will not be in this game, that was already confirmed.
if they were to they would be destroying everything they claimed to be, and they wouldnt do that.
mark my words, tool will not be in this game
lego91994 @ Sep 5th 2008 2:48PM
It's in a press release, they are in the game.
syrik zero @ Sep 5th 2008 2:51PM

Dirty @ Sep 5th 2008 2:51PM
READ MY LIPS...... You are a tool. Reading is fundamental.
Lewis (RROD: July 16) @ Sep 5th 2008 3:30PM
@Dirty
Please define your use of the word tool without looking it up online. Oh wait you can't. sucks.
muchmaligned @ Sep 5th 2008 3:32PM
what are you, 12? what Tool stands for is making money off of their stupid chode disciples. like you.
Nonhippyhippy @ Sep 5th 2008 4:59PM
Tool were the ones who told people to pirate 10,000 Days... They have refused to allow their songs on iTunes, i am very surprised at this announcement..
Buckshot @ Sep 5th 2008 2:44PM
Lars? He's virtually in his gold tub, virtually still QQing about mp3s, and getting ready to unleash another shitpile album on his victims.
AndJusticeForAll @ Sep 5th 2008 10:15PM
yea, no matter how much i love Metallica( not claiming to be a non-fanboy) you might wanna hear the new album before you bash it. Other than the few singles that have been on the radio its the best cd they've had since AJFA. By that i mean, everything since the black album including the black album has been garbage. But at least go download it and check it out. Its not bad suprisingly
Bluebrake @ Sep 5th 2008 2:49PM
"With about seven weeks to go before its October 26 North American launch, when do we get to learn the rest of the tracklist?"
Is this really still a question? You haven't been noticing a pattern in these press releases over the last week or two...?
J.Goodwin @ Sep 5th 2008 2:52PM
I'm confused by the headline.
Does it mean, Sting, and the band named "Tool" are joining the lineup of Guitar Hero World tour, or does it mean that Sting is a tool (also true). Or does it mean that Lars is a tool (also definitely true).
Perhaps it means all of those simultaneously?
giantenemycrab @ Sep 5th 2008 2:53PM
damn it. damn it. Tool? Now I have to pick up this game.
coldbrand @ Sep 5th 2008 4:36PM
Yeah, I really wish they'd gone with Rock Band.
Shagittarius @ Sep 5th 2008 2:54PM
Earnest Hemingway plays bass?
baby sea tuna @ Sep 5th 2008 3:55PM
I thought it was Bill Murray, personally.
ComicShaman @ Sep 5th 2008 4:01PM
See, I thought it was Abraham Lincoln. Weird.
Blank-Mage @ Sep 6th 2008 1:40AM
I saw John Lock(e?) from Lost. Er, with hair.
Dirty @ Sep 5th 2008 2:55PM
Hope someone does a good comparison of the drum sets before RB2 drops. I want the better drums...
Penny for your thoughts?
harma41 @ Sep 5th 2008 3:02PM
This sounds awfully like a track pack that could easily be licensed by rock band. I hope so, because guitar hero just isn't as good as rock band.
Red Leader @ Sep 5th 2008 3:07PM
Down all things Guitar Hero and Rock Band. You people really aren't having fun playing them. It's an illusion. It has to be.
jsn @ Sep 5th 2008 3:47PM
Give yourself to the rhythm game genre...it is the only way..
Red Leader @ Sep 5th 2008 3:51PM
Honestly I thought Guitar Hero was fun, and I believe it left room for a game like Rock Band to be made. The people who keep buying sequel after sequel of the same EXACT game with new songs baffle me. I refuse to pay an extra $60-100 dollars just to play the same game with new music that could have easily been downloadable content in the previous one for a reasonable fee.
Hafk @ Sep 5th 2008 5:05PM
You know why I love disc based songs?
Because I can hand them to my friend, and he can play it. When I get tired of them, I can sell them for a profit.
You can't do that with DLC.
Also, new disc-based games leave room for general improvement. Rock Band 2 and GH WT both have considerable improvements over their predesesors, where an online update would just be too big to do reasonably.
DLC is awesome, and I like that you have the freedom to choose the songs you want, but think of the songs you have never heard. If you were to give me DLC Pre-GH2, and let me chose the songs, I would have never picked some of my favorite songs in the game, like Raw Dog and Push Push (Lady Lightning).
DLC + Disc installments is the way to go, and if the DLC works with the other games in the series, it is just icing on the cake!
Kersh @ Sep 5th 2008 3:17PM
Damn, Tool in GH. I wish it was some of their older stuff, but hey, this is pretty sweet.
Of course, if Parabol isn't in there, it's just a huge waste.
Mark @ Sep 5th 2008 3:51PM
Guys... 3 songs and a stage devoted to tool were confirmed like months ago long before the rumored setlist. That's old news to me.
Cmo4Ever @ Sep 5th 2008 3:56PM
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. If you look at Rock Bands forums, one of the all time highest forum threads was for Tool in it. They are the single band I've wanted in one of these games for years, and now it's official. I didn't want to believe in even one Tool song, getting my hopes up, but now they have 3 of the damn things. If the rest of the game was just monkeys banging together trash cans I would still pay full price on this thing.
If they place the songs in different number tiers, say 3,5,8 they could keep things in a Fibonacci order as well.
Waqman @ Sep 5th 2008 11:07PM
Actually if the rest of the game was monkeys banging trash can lids that would make it more exciting anyways.....
Mark @ Sep 5th 2008 4:08PM
Well I definitely read an article about that but I think it got deleted.
MuToiD_MaN @ Sep 5th 2008 4:27PM
Here, fixed the image for all you Life Aquatic fans as this is obviously Bill Murray.

Donald @ Sep 5th 2008 4:43PM
Could use more Paramore. I thought with Hayley Williams as a character we'd at least get 2 songs. Oh well.
Cesaria (Enjoys all systems, despite my reputation) @ Sep 5th 2008 5:00PM
The addition of Tool just sold me GH4.
Shane-o @ Sep 5th 2008 5:43PM
Well damn.
If Tool is there, I'm there.
And I had abandoned Guitar Hero for awhile, convinced Activision were going to "Tony Hawk" it.
jynxycat @ Sep 5th 2008 6:14PM
They also are adding a new venue that will represent their artwork/style as well.
As noted in the press release, but not in the short paragraph listed above.
Mongrel @ Sep 5th 2008 6:50PM
How exactly does a home user "sing along" to a Tool song anyway? This should be interesting...
Waqman @ Sep 5th 2008 7:00PM
Where are the other two members of the Police? WTF?
And that doesn't look like Sting at all.
lockheede @ Sep 5th 2008 10:29PM
Actually it does look like him. He had a complete beard whole playing on this tour.
corbin @ Sep 5th 2008 7:50PM
All they need is to add We're An American Band and they have a sale for me
