I doubt they will be giving Recon for any of these new achievements. Recon has always been given out for competitions or promotions. Thats not going to change.

What about Microshaft's extra 250 gs rule? Doesn't apply for M$ produced goods? Lame.

When you have DLC you can add up to 250 Gamerpoints per game. Just like Oblivion, Mass Effect, The Godfather, and a bunch of other games have already done.

Yeah.... to a limit of an extra 250. If they're adding 250 now, but that's not the only achievements they're adding they're clearly going over the limit. Unless all their achievements are worth 0....

well on the bright side this will give people like myself who cant be bothered with the metagame cheevos the cance to pass the 1000 mark and get katana goodness. And doesnt this seem like the prime oppotunity to make legendary free and start announcing the mythic stuff.

i'm thinking that only the original 1000GS will get you the katana.

The metagame achievements are very easy. Just put on a bunch of the skulls and play through on normal.

Listen: The maps which cost money right now are never, ever going to be free. Stop being so poor and pay up if you want them. Even bungie said in a friday update that they will never be free

I'm not disputing the fact of their simplicity or ease I'm saying im lazy, well no thats not right. It's the fact I've gone through the campaign a few times now hunting skulls, clearing it the first time, clearing legendary (which doesnt show on my service record???) hitting the terminals for the marathon achievement and what-not. Also I did these bar the terminals on co-op which is what i like about this game as I completed all three of the trilogy co-operatively with a friend of mine and the game seems less of a fun fight without my friend there kicking ass too. The fun of playing the game for a pointing system (that arent achievements) just makes me frustrated/bored.

As to brian:
I tend not to buy dlc (less for a map pack) for a game that i no longer play on a frequent basis. I tend to think it could just go towards another game or dlc that adds new story and content to a game. As towards your hostile manner it's not appreciated, yes I would like the Legendary maps obviously the more content the better but frankly I don't see them worth buying right now. Especially when we're approaching such a busy gaming season where my time will go into mirriors edge, gears 2, lego batman and fable 2. As to the fact they shall never be free, what happend to bungie? Halo 2 content became free after certain dates and I always believed theyed do the same for Halo Trois after the main amount of the market who would spend their virtual points on getting the stuff god-knows how much earlier.
Ps: sorry for the essay

I agree. It would be nice to have a shot at the cheevos, but due to the fact that I have not played halo in over 6 months, there is no way I would buy the maps. For free, yes, and I would attempt the points. Not free? No, I want Fallout and Gears and.... Well, Halo 3 was a piece of poop to me. That is just my opinion and my opinion is what dictates if I spend money on DLC. Halo 3=No.

As long as I don't have to get them on Lonewolf, all is good.

@mcwattersm; You're an idiot to think that the same rule applies to Halo. I mean that in the nicest possible way. :)

For the "7 on 7" one, won't that be impossible for those who have more than 7 exp? Or am I misreading something here?

No, it'll be very easy. Bungie changes the playlists all the time.

Well, your rank/overal exp won't be changing but each playlist is having its own exp/rank with the next title update. So in theory it'll be very simple to get assuming 1 game = 1 exp. Just play 7 games in a playlist and your good. However i'm not sure if its really 7 games = 7 exp or if its 7 wins = 7 exp.

EXP is different than your numbered rank...EXP will never go down. I'm not understanding a few achievements that are being given out (Vidmaster "Annual"? There aren't ghosts in each and every level...). Plus, sucks that I'm just about homing in on 1000gs. Thought I would complete it fully, now I probably won't have the patience to get some of those wacky achievements. (I've got the OCD where if I get anywhere over 700/1000 gs, I gotta get 'em all)

On the final level of Halo 3 (named "Halo") you can opt not to drive the hogs an instead find four ghosts in a cave. If you complete the level, with iron skull on (you die, everyone goes back to checkpoint. you all die, level restarts) and everyone in the ghosts, you get the achievement.

Sounds pretty tough IMO.

this is the type of thing that is going to ultimately give XBL superiority to H3 over COD4. Actually providing new content almost a year after the release. what have we got from IW lately? ONE map pack, and maybe a playlist update. Don't get me wrong, I love COD4, i would just like some love in return. One can only stay in a one-sided relationship so long.

How is this new content? It's just some additional goals to go for and a lot of the require that you pay Bungie more money just to download a couple of maps (ok maybe it's three). I paid for the maps on Halo 2 when they came out because I played Halo 2 nearly all the time but sorry to say Halo 3 just doesn't grab me in the same way. With what it would cost you to buy every map pack Bungie releases you could just buy a new game.

CoD 5 anyone?

So is it safe to say that if you've already done said tasks to get the achievements, you'll probably have to do them again?

Not that many of those aren't something you may regularly do : two double kills, couple assassinations, etc.

Bleep~bloop! Look at all these achivables!

Seriously though, these actually seem pretty fun and creative. I'm especially happy they got rid of the annoying "only in ranked" requirement for these. This means those who want to work together with friends for it can and those who want to earn it the regular way don't have to wait till once in a blue moon or try there luck at a special weekend.

Check out the last picture. Tagline is "A small, private Bungie Invitational looms on the horizon."

This, leads me to believe, that the canceled E3 announcement will be out soon.

Thoughts?

The original list added 750 points. That's impossible due to Microsoft's rules for adding gamerscore to a game. So either Bungie cut the list down to 250 or Microsoft is changing the rules again.
