Actually, the particle collision is projected for October 20th. That's when you can take a permanent vacation. OMG! The egos of mankind never fails to amaze me. It's always about fame, money or power under the guise of saying it's for science or for the good of humanity. Sheesh...no matter what century, men will never learn, even if it means there's a "mini black hole" of a chance they might destroy our world as we know it.

Just for DJ and everyone else:

Particles collide all the time in space exactly how they plan on colliding them in the LHC. Yes, they do create black holes but the black holes only last for a fraction of a second before they can't sustain themselves anymore and vanish.

If the LHC had a possibility of creating a black hole that could harm the earth in -any- way then we would see this sort of creation all the time in space.

Ugh, seriously guys? Seriously. This argument has been going on for years among top scientists. You're not gonna figure it out here. Particle collisions happen, all the time in space, yes, but they've never done a bunch of man-made ones on Earth, in the atmosphere, so close to the surface. The black whole/strange matter doomsday theories are basically the same as the idea that the first nuclear explosion was gonna set the Earth's atmosphere on fire. We. Just. Don't. Know. What. Will. Happen. Yet. End of story.

WOO!

No, really, though, as awful as a zombie apocalypse would be for humanity, I think it would be badass. Seriously.

Science nerd here, the same physics that predicts the small probability of a black hole forming also predicts that it will not have enough mass to be stable and evaporate quickly. That same physics says that all the air molecules in the room you are in have a small probability of all being on the side of the room that you are not - thereby suffocating you.

Still, in the very small likelihood that something bad does happen, I recommend having a crowbar handy.

i was worried about the black hole threat too. i even was nice to my father. i started to make my peace with the end. but i was on youtube when i ran into scientist rapping about the collider. it wasn't horrible but nowhere near the lyrical skill of early will.i.am work i'll tell you. they had an okay flow and made some sende but nothing to convince me they were capable of creating something so massive that not even light can escape and in the words of the black eyed peas have me falling up.

With the success of Monster Hunter for the PSP in Japan, letting it be on the top of the charts for weeks in a row, why isn't it on the DS?

With the number of DSs in Japan and Monster Hunter on that, that would be some crazy shit. God knows how successful Monster Hunter 3 will do on the Wii.

I think it would just be too much work for them. Think of it this way:

Make a PSP game - Sell millions.
Re-make a PSP game (and add like 1 new thing) - Sell more millions.

IMO, they are just gonna work on the MH3 Wii game, while re-making more PSP "expansions". But still, a DS game would be a huge seller.

A Monster Hunter DS might do well. Where MH succeeds in Japan is due to its local multiplayer.

MH3 will not do well, though. MH1 and 2 didn't do well, either. Because they were console games that relied on online multiplayer. Freedom succeeded because it relied on local multiplayer, which is a bigger thing in Japan than online multiplayer.

okay did the 360 really have a shortage or did it fail the week following tales of vesperia? The following week after vesperia's sales surge, everyone blamed the low sales to shortages. Well, it's been 2 weeks since then. anybody know?

Since 360 has never been huge in the region, they never shipped a lot. The week of Vesperia, where 360 sold over 25K units? That was pretty much all of the 360s in Japan. So now, I think, Microsoft is scrambling to strike while the Vesperia iron is still hot. But, it may have already cooled down... [shrugs]
