Monolith and Warner Bros. sure appreciate all the hard work you put in to deciding the name of the "spiritual successor" to F.E.A.R., but let's face it, Project Origin doesn't quite ring like ... F.E.A.R. 2. But, as the backstory goes, Sierra owned the franchise name and, up until the Activision-Blizzard merger, the company was supposedly working on its own F.E.A.R. sequel.
But then, well, Sierra hit a snag. Sensing that all was not well, Warner Bros. sent over a gift basket full of money, and back came the rights to the franchise name. So, here Warner Bros. and Monolith are with the original name and the name that's been used in all the marketing to date. Solution? Combine the two. And the final answer is ... F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin! In stores February 10th, 2009.

It would sound better had they gone with Origin Project instead of Project Origin. But anyway, having a lame acronym to sound science-fictiony was pretty bad to begin with.

Can they find a way to fit more dots into the title.
F.E.A.R 2: Project.Origin.sequel
I'll wait until some in depth reviews are out before deciding whether to get it. It's going to need some serious improvement to the overall variety of the game (location, graphics, enemies) to justify buying. I had fun for awhile with the first one, then it was just too much of the same, over and over.

Haha. There is something very funny about the "PJFEAR" and "POTO" parts of that acronym. It almost makes me want to make a game about a bad-ass cop named P.J. Fear.

I loved the original Fear and Extraction Point but i was playing Perseus Mandate and after what felt like an hour and a half there was no freaky crap going on and i had forgotten why the hell i was shooting the other guys so i stopped playing so Hopefully this is more like the Original and EP than the latter. Was i Too hasty with PM? Does it get better?

Perseus Mandate and Extraction Point were not made by Monolith who made the original game and have developed Project Origin.

It'll help sell the game. Believe it or not, most people won't know it's a sequel to FEAR without the FEAR 2 in front of it.

Awesome, I'm glad those guys got the right to the name back. It seemed really dumb to me anyway that sierra had held on to the name. What the hell were they going to do with it, pump out expansion after expansion for an old game? They didn't have rights to the storyline so any sequel would have been pretty pointless.
