Rumor: Deus Ex 3 coming-out party in next month's PC Zone mag
27
We don't know much about Deus Ex 3 – we know it's coming; we know it's being developed by the unproven team at Eidos Montreal; and we know it will use Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider engine. If a pic snagged by GAFfer Endless is to be believed, next month's PC Zone magazine (its "200th issue spectacular"!) will have a lot more details. If the internet has taught us anything – besides the gullibility of its users – it's that one can reasonably expect magazines to end up in the hands of scan-happy forum-goers well in advance of their purported street dates, so hopefully we'll know if this is legit before October 9th.

Deus Ex is pretty great, but it's one of those games that promises too much and then you feel disappointed that it didn't do everything. Not that it's bad in any way - I played it a lot actually, but sometimes you'd just get this feeling like the game could have made the step from great to awesome had they just done a little more.
But as long as you accept some limitations, it was great fun with pretty good replayability. I don't know about the sequel though. I read that they took out skills, which was the best part of the game, so I never bothered getting it.

This is good news. I went through the games on Gametap not too long ago. I have the first game on disk laying around somewhere... but the second one I gave away after playing the first time. It seemed like the best thing to do to get the bad taste out of my mouth. Yuck. I hope the third is a hellofalot better than the second.

Wish I was a subscriber to PCZone, as it is I get it 4 days later than the internet by popping down to my newsagents.
Although one of the writers recently sent me a package including maple syrup, a 48k spectrum game (on a cassette) and Total Drivin' on the PS1.

Well, there are tens of thousands of subscribers who have this issue and would be able to tell you better than I and just as well as anyone who works there.
Plus I don't see why someone would hoax this.. that's the font they use, that's how they set out the back page, and an article on a game which has already been confirmed isn't so rare.

You can also see what part of a european kitchen looks like. Yes, we even have toasters now!

You have a fully working copy of Jet Set Willy on tape?!? Have you any idea how much a mint condition one of those is? Up to £40/$70 apparently if it's been signed by Matthew Smith himself. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ZX-Spectrum-JET-SET-WILLY-SIGNED-by-Matthew-Smith_W0QQitemZ260262021982QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260262021982&_trkparms=72%3A985%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14">

I doubt anyone can honestly hope for a Deus Ex of the same caliber that the original title was. Two while not really a bad game on its own is still a prime example of how not to stay true to a games essence.

Without Warren Spector, Deus Ex just doesn't work.

Do I hope for a sequel of the same caliber as the original? Absolutely. Do I think I'll get it? I'd like to, but I've got my doubts.

This game could be so good. But I doubt it will be. Makes me a sad panda.

Steam has Deux Ex 1 for something like $10. It'll play on pretty much any PC. And you can play it two-three times, because your decisions change the storyline.
Whether Deux Ex 3 is good or not, the original is more than good enough to play to get your DE fix.

As long as they don't console-ize it like they did the second one, it might have a shot at being great.
Of course, with everything being console-ized now, that chance is very slim.

No Spector? Then no interest. He even sold out on 2. Bring him back and call this one DE2 to eliminate that earlier one from the series.
