That's generous.

Drake of the 99 Dragons
Land of the Dead
Barbie Horse Adventures
Whacked!
Bloody Roar
FIFA 2002

That sounds about right.

From the latest Bungie Weekly Update, "These will be made live when TU2 turns on later this month - the previously announced date may slip a bit closer to the Halo 3 one-year anniversary."

Sounds possible to me.

If they release any Xbox originals for free they better be announcing the stand alone 60 GB hard drives for sale also. The majority of their user base already bought the 20GB pro bundles and only have a few gigs left as it is.

I assumed that the "exclusives" meant timed exclusives only, which wouldn't be out of the question.

If this is true, microsoft should get a huge advantage over sony this christmas (unless they've got something up their sleeves as good as well.)

Just imagine: Assassins Creed 2 and Mass Effect 2 exclusives + getting (speculations here) Halo 1, Fable, plus other 4 free games (I don't care 'bout the rest as long as those two are on the list) + netflix + the new xbox 360 experience + price cuts...

It'd be one hell of a console!

+Satellite Radio
+Miis for the kiddies
+Game Shows with real prizes

If they don't release Home soon, they might as well give up on it.

I console re-launch would be a brilliant marketing gimmick but all the numbers seem way too high...

5 hours? Maybe an hour press conference followed by Adam, Morgan, Blair, et al. commenting and speculating for 4 more hours. And on a Thursday from 6pm - midnight? That would be bizarre marketing.

6 free originals? I can see them giving one away as a "see, its not so bad" trial. But six is overkill. It would have to be six first-party games too since to pay third party publisher for each download could be a costly mistake IMHO.

This is exactly the kind of thing that will kill Sony if they don't start marketing their product effectively and efficiently. That's primarily how M$ got a jump with their install base due to hype and the lack of competition for a short term.

My bet is games like Asassin's Creed 2 is just going to be a timed exclusive deal due to Microsoft being the silicon pirates they are by giving money to the companies to delay release times by 2-3 months.

If all those rumored items are true and will be later implemented into the console, then that's a VERY good time to have a 360.

However, I personally will never buy an Xbox 360 until they make their Live service free of charge, eradicate all advertisements on the dashboard, and lower their failure rate to the level of both competitors: the Wii and PS3.

I very much dislike Xbox originals for there lack of achievements, gamerscore, poor compression and lack of dashboard functionality. But if they are gonna throw me 6 free originals I'll be taking them.

Anyone have the update release date yet? Or will that be announced here as well?

Has anyone thought about waiting to take the update and seeing what happens to the ones that take the plunge first? Meaning what if this thing crashes 360's at an astronomicle rate?

This is way to good to be true, but if it is, I can see that it will be the end of the internet as we know it. So in that regards, please be true.

Free Xbox Originals actually makes a lot of sense. I mean, they can't really be making that much money off of such old games, they may as well be free as an incentive.

Six free games, a previously-unannounced Sirius partnership, the dashboard update, and the Halo map pack for free, by the end of the month?

Even if the XO games aren't doing as well as they hoped, I still don't see them just giving them away for free.

If MS was partnering with Sirius, I seriously (no pun intended) doubt we wouldn't have heard *something* before now.

Just from the way Major Nelson was talking about the "NXE" as recently as yesterday's podcast, I don't think that'll be ready by the end of the month.

The only possibility I see is the Halo maps being free -- the way Bungie refers to it as a "Title Update" sounds like a free update. But then the way they said they had to "negotiate" just to get Cold Storage for free (plus the Legendary pack having "no plans" to *ever* be free) makes me skeptical.

And just how are we supposed to squeeze all of this onto our 13GB hard drives, not to mention keep all this new streaming media and downloads under the oh-so-fashionable trend of bandwidth caps from our ISPs (I'm looking at *you*, Comcast)?

that's just it... the people who only have 13 gig hard drives will download all this 'free' crap and need to go drop $200 on a new one.... that's the marketing ploy....

If you read the source post, you'll see the poster mention 'Mad Libs' but not know what it is. Well, there's a supposedly popular word game called Mad Libs, you can play it here:

http://www.madlibs.com/category/funstuff/?g=madlibs
If this rumor's true, which the more I think about it seems to be the case, (we already knew they were planning a special event this fall) maybe that's what it is? A word game? Considering the whole casual focus, this seems right on track. It could be an Xbox Primetime or something...

Quote from Major Nelsons webpage, twitter area.

"Time to prep for the Sirius show. When the Steve-fest is over, can someone send me a link to a round up of the news"

Now, if you ask me, this partially confirms the sirius radio deal, which in turn may confirm this whole rumour :D
