My Elite bought last summer just made that RROD face at me last night while playing Castle Crashers, I didn't even have a disc in the tray. It can happen to any and all systems

I sent mine in recently, I got a replacement fast (shipped out the same day they received mine). That one lasted 9 days before it died too. I called in and started a new repair and requested overnight shipping, they said they would so I waited for the label - it came in my email a few hours later but was UPS ground...I called twice more, both times being promised a new label in email within 24 hours, both times it never came. Finally spoke to a super and she sent me a new box with FedEx overnight label inside....still waiting on my replacement.

Oh wow, this is high percentage. Is it fixed now? I am reading original post and people are saying it's still broken, but ofcourse those people may not even have the xbox just complaining about it. I just see lot of people posting articles about RROD

yup, bad interpretation...they had only 68% good xboxes coming out of the factory but they tought that it was a manifacturing problem...and that the good ones where really good. Turned out to be a more serious problem hehe...anyway with the 3 years warrenty and newer falcon/jasper models, the risk is quite low right now... i have a falcon and its seen loads of gaming and it still running strong. and if it fails..i know i'm backed t'il next generation comes..

If thats true I must be the luckiest person on the planet because I own three of them and two of those are launch systems and I have never had a problem with any of them. I'm sure mine are played more than most of yours are. Everything needs to be maintained especially electronics. Keeping it in a well vented area and a 6 month cleaning goes a looong way. When I say cleaning I mean vacuum the dust out of vents. If its already out of warranty open it up and really clean it. You'll be suprised at the amount of dust that builds up inside it if you don't clean it for a year.

My Elite RROD'd about three months ago and I bought it two summers ago. It was back from MS in just over two weeks though so no complaints. We have three other 360's in my immediate family and none of those have had the problem.

I wouldnt be surprised if it were close to 100% either. I and 4 of my co-workers have all had to turn in our xboxs atleast once. And two of them, twice. (Recently yet another co-worker bought one, we're all sure its just a matter of time before his does as well) As of two days ago, my "repaired" xbox has failed yet again even though i've only had it back for about 4-5 months. So now i have to pay 45 f'n dollars just to get something fixed that NEVER worked correctly in the first damm place. I didnt mind it as long as they would cover fixing the clearly defective pos. But this is nuts. Luckily for them, the xbox is the best system out there. 100% I say.
