Get Equipped with Mega Man answers from Inafune
8
As the daddy of the Blue Bomber, you'd expect Keiji Inafune to know a thing or two about the Mega Man canon, and readers of the Capcom blog got the chance to test his knowledge in a interview, in which Inafune quickly set about clarifying series minutiae.
Other subjects broached include the prospect of Mega Man appearing in not-Mega Man genres (in short, don't be expecting Mega Man Kart in the near future, and let's all be thankful for that), Inafune's fondness for photography (which influenced Dead Rising), and co-op Mega Man (which, argues Inafune, would be "close to impossible" with the current style of the series). He also mentions that he'd be happy to see Mega Man in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and that's not the first time Inafune has dropped that particular hint. Surely the robo-boy is a shoo-in for the next game?

Any plan to create more games for the Mega Man X series? What about Rockman Dash/Mega Man Legends?
KI: I would love to do more games in the Mega Man Legends and X series, but the business of these games must be considered. Passion and creativity are great, but the reality is that they must be balanced with profitability.
Oh man, I really want another game in the MML series.

There already was a Mega Man Kart. It was called Mega Man Battle and Chase. But yeah, it IS extra terrible. Soooo.... You know, whatever.

I would love to see an American studio tackle the Mega Man franchise and make a first person shooter out of it. One with a much more serious tone than the previous games. The Mega Man franchise has the trappings of a Sci-Fi epic, it just needs to be harnessed.
Think Metroid Prime, only there would be more freedom in where the game could go and what the player could do.
It would be brilliant.

Don't we have plenty enough sci-fi shooters already?
I really don't think the genre lends itself too well to rockman's lighthearted story, and it never works well for platforming... just think of the disappearing block puzzles when you can't see your feet. Jumping only worked somewhat well in Metroid Prime, and if you'll notice there's a whole lot less of it than in the main series.
Rockman Dash/MM Legends is as close to that as I wanna go... and already it hardly feels like a Rockman game.

I would LOVE to see that. Except 2D side-scrolling instead of first-person, and maybe swap out the serious sci-fi story for some lighter fare that just serves to introduce a set of Robot Masters. But other than those minor changes, I'm all for it.

SSBB needs downloadable characters, along with the larger storage to keep 'em.
