LucasArts has announced that an earth-shattering demo of Fracture is scheduled to crack up the Xbox Live Marketplace on Thursday, September 18. If you need a little help digging the name Fracture from your mind, it's a third person shooter with the central mechanic of land deformation, which the devlopers have cleverly dubbed Terrain Deformation. Players can build their own cover or, conversely, pull the land out from under the feet of approaching enemies. Land deformation can also be used for other things, such as accessing otherwise unreachable areas (think of it like a dirt elevator).
For those who enjoy the demo, Fracture will be hitting retail on October 7 in North America and October 10 in Euorpe.

Fracture seems like its thinking outside the box, adding something different to some of the tired, tired and tested game architectures we've all seen over and over. I'll have to try the beta to see for myself if the game is worth a purchase.

Hmm. Nice. Why isn't there no publicity for this game? Sounds interesting.
