Nature documentary explains life of a Sackboy

As members of the preeminent species on Planet Earth, we don't care too much for nature documentaries. What could it possibly matter to us how the lesser works of God (whose image we're created in, remember) spend their time?
We are, however, willing to make an exception for LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy, which is just close enough to human to merit our attention. You'll find a fascinating look into his daily life just after the break.

The video part is pretty rad, but the voiceover guy doesn't really nail the whole "nature documentary" tone. He needs to be more hushed and scholarly sounding.

It reminds me of Team Fortress 2's "Meet The ____" with the way they're playing around with the engine for pure entertainment value. "1st-party machinima" is greatness.

Add this game in with Spore and MGS4 for 'games I got tired of hearing about before release'.

Seriously. I'm tired of hearing about the goddamned Sackboy.
But at least I know how other people complaining about Halo 3 and GTA4 pre-release felt... I guess.

You guess? Really? GTA IV and especially Halo 3 recieved probably 10 times more coverage than this game and it got irritating.
Anyways this was a great trailer.

I hated all the Halo 3 coverage, GTA seemed a bit much, but the game had more universal appeal than Halo 3, so I let that slide a little. The LBP hype is approaching ridiculous.
I know it's important to keep people interested in your game, but don't these people realize that the more they pump out the hype, the more, ultimately, fans are disappointed with the game when it hits?
Just look at Spore. Good game, but people expected a lot more from the hype, and some of them were let down.

@Waqman: Well, I anticipated GTA4 and Halo 3. I don't anticipate this - not just because it doesn't really strike me as interesting, but I don't have a PS3. So naturally I'm a little biased, and I imagine that's the case for you also.
Being a Starcraft fan, I'd probably be giddy if every post on the main page pertained to SC2. If they were all about Microsoft's next flight simulator, I would probably sacrifice a Joystiq staffer.

I think LBP is being over hyped. Seems like sony is banking a little too much on this game. I think its good to have a game that isnt quite what you think when it comes to a AAA title being paraded around so much. Maybe its the halo killer they were looking for in all the wrong places.

The hype is getting ridiculous I agree. Just back date people's comments who support this onslaught and see if they complained about the Halo exposure and call them out as hypocrites.
One thing about the internet I love is that your comments will forever be etched in stone!

Everyone knew Halo 3 was going to suck. There is the difference.

While this is a funny and well done bit, I really can't stand the narrator's voice.

Re: Hype
Keep in mind that Halo 3 and GTA 4 were sequels, we knew what to expect in general terms and the hype was really just relentless and repetitive advertising. In the case of a new and innovative game the hype is usually telling us something new.
I can't get enough of LBP, and I'm not even a PS3 owner.

I'm still waiting to be convinced there's a game worth buying in there at all, and not just some level creator.
