Nature documentary explains life of a Sackboy
As members of the preeminent species on Planet Earth, we don't care too much for nature documentaries. What could it possibly matter to us how the lesser works of God (whose image we're created in, remember) spend their time?
We are, however, willing to make an exception for LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy, which is just close enough to human to merit our attention. You'll find a fascinating look into his daily life just after the break.

I've watched this video like ten times now.
(In case you can't tell from this and my past posts, I'm pretty hyped up for this game...)
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Sep 10th 2008 10:18AM
lol yea we can tell. i do love this video too though and am also pretty hyped for this game. i cant wait to make my first Sackboy, he's going to be the coolest Sackboy ever!
Dirk Dorkelson @ Sep 10th 2008 1:09PM
The video part is pretty rad, but the voiceover guy doesn't really nail the whole "nature documentary" tone. He needs to be more hushed and scholarly sounding.
j.howlett @ Sep 10th 2008 10:05AM
sweet
Bucket @ Sep 10th 2008 10:18AM
It reminds me of Team Fortress 2's "Meet The ____" with the way they're playing around with the engine for pure entertainment value. "1st-party machinima" is greatness.
liam @ Sep 10th 2008 10:19AM
SHWEEEEEEEET this game looks the nuts!
love the documentry parody, ive made documentrys, thank god theres some parody that doesnt involve some very over the top "ozzy" man .. this one seems to be .. mild mannered "ozzy" man
lol
cant wait till next vid, keep em comin'"!
Dravean @ Sep 10th 2008 10:33AM
pure, rad.
mj @ Sep 10th 2008 10:39AM
Add this game in with Spore and MGS4 for 'games I got tired of hearing about before release'.
dark_inchworm @ Sep 10th 2008 10:50AM
Seriously. I'm tired of hearing about the goddamned Sackboy.
But at least I know how other people complaining about Halo 3 and GTA4 pre-release felt... I guess.
Waqman @ Sep 10th 2008 11:06AM
You guess? Really? GTA IV and especially Halo 3 recieved probably 10 times more coverage than this game and it got irritating.
Anyways this was a great trailer.

thanks but no thanks for sharing
Marty @ Sep 10th 2008 11:09AM
I hated all the Halo 3 coverage, GTA seemed a bit much, but the game had more universal appeal than Halo 3, so I let that slide a little. The LBP hype is approaching ridiculous.
I know it's important to keep people interested in your game, but don't these people realize that the more they pump out the hype, the more, ultimately, fans are disappointed with the game when it hits?
Just look at Spore. Good game, but people expected a lot more from the hype, and some of them were let down.
dark_inchworm @ Sep 10th 2008 11:33AM
@Waqman: Well, I anticipated GTA4 and Halo 3. I don't anticipate this - not just because it doesn't really strike me as interesting, but I don't have a PS3. So naturally I'm a little biased, and I imagine that's the case for you also.
Being a Starcraft fan, I'd probably be giddy if every post on the main page pertained to SC2. If they were all about Microsoft's next flight simulator, I would probably sacrifice a Joystiq staffer.
Jakka(Free Mr.ESC!) @ Sep 10th 2008 12:04PM
Now you, understand me?
Thanks for all the -1's in the past.
dark_inchworm @ Sep 10th 2008 12:27PM
obvious bias is obvious, downvoting shitstains
Marty @ Sep 10th 2008 2:20PM
Wow, the down-vote brigade is in full force this morning.
How about you guys get MediaMolecule's sack(boy) off your chins for a second?
dark_inchworm @ Sep 10th 2008 3:13PM
I SURE DO LOVE YOU, SONY
Dirty @ Sep 10th 2008 4:01PM
I think LBP is being over hyped. Seems like sony is banking a little too much on this game. I think its good to have a game that isnt quite what you think when it comes to a AAA title being paraded around so much. Maybe its the halo killer they were looking for in all the wrong places.
AlterEgo @ Sep 10th 2008 10:56AM
I'm sure you didn't mean to post this here.
You're not fucking stupid, correct?
CaptNink @ Sep 10th 2008 11:12AM
I have my own sack, boy. And I play with it regularly.
juju187 @ Sep 10th 2008 11:41AM
i hope microsoft makes a knockoff so i can play...
Scrotum men?
Leobebes (BDF: Braid Defence Force) @ Sep 10th 2008 12:43PM
The hype is getting ridiculous I agree. Just back date people's comments who support this onslaught and see if they complained about the Halo exposure and call them out as hypocrites.
One thing about the internet I love is that your comments will forever be etched in stone!
Jakka(Free Mr.ESC!) @ Sep 10th 2008 1:00PM
What if you get banned every first of the month? Try tracking down THAT!
j.howlett @ Sep 10th 2008 1:06PM
but i bet a series of braid stories can't come quick enough for ya
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 10th 2008 3:25PM
Well, this game has potential to be awesome.
Everyone knew Halo 3 was going to suck. There is the difference.
343 Guilty Fart @ Sep 10th 2008 12:52PM
While this is a funny and well done bit, I really can't stand the narrator's voice.
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Sep 10th 2008 12:52PM
Honestly, this is nowhere near Halo3/GTA hype. I haven't seen giant billboards, TV ads, or special edition soft drinks yet. I think it's kind of silly to compare it to the hype of those games.
Abuzar Baloach @ Sep 10th 2008 2:52PM
Yeah, but that soda kicked ass!
I wish they would still make it.
Dirty @ Sep 10th 2008 4:03PM
Just tiny billboards. Its just getting a lot of attention in the gaming media.
Levi @ Sep 10th 2008 6:36PM
Where did those tiny billboards come from anyway?
Plus, there is a commercial somewhere on cable TVs that has clips of a few games, Killzone 2 and LBP being two of them.
GTA4 coverage was worse tho. Saw those commercials way too many times.
Levi @ Sep 10th 2008 6:38PM

Re: Hype
Keep in mind that Halo 3 and GTA 4 were sequels, we knew what to expect in general terms and the hype was really just relentless and repetitive advertising. In the case of a new and innovative game the hype is usually telling us something new.
I can't get enough of LBP, and I'm not even a PS3 owner.
Alikar @ Sep 10th 2008 2:10PM
Frick. I need a PS3 now...
AzaMcWazza @ Sep 10th 2008 4:37PM
I'm still waiting to be convinced there's a game worth buying in there at all, and not just some level creator.
Hyams @ Sep 10th 2008 5:12PM
I take it you didn't watch the video then? LBP isn't just a level creator.
Jarret @ Sep 11th 2008 12:14AM
I'm getting more interested in this game every day.
