And it's gonna take a lot of 0s on the end of that check to convince Capcom otherwise. The company has reaffirmed its multiplatform development strategy to shareholders in its annual report released today. "As a measure to counter the soaring costs of software development for the next-generation consoles, which has been a cause for concern, we have shifted our focus to the multiplatform strategy," the report states. "Furthermore, in order to make this shift possible, we have implemented the company-wide use of our own base technology for software development tool, 'MT Framework.'"
If that message isn't clear enough for you, Capcom restates its commitment to spreading its seeds far and wide in the "Outlook for the Future" section of the report: "all major titles launched during the next fiscal year or thereafter will be developed as multiplatform games." Sounds like Wii owners can take this one of two ways: 1) Capcom is done giving Wii "major title" support; or 2) Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 confirmed for Wii! (Don't hold your breath for the latter.)

There goes all my use of my Wii... I don't think I've started it in months. This honestly is bad news for me. RE4 was the only game I REALLY liked on the Wii

Sounds to me like the comment could be completely unrelated to the Wii and Joystiq is just trying to start a flame war.
Your efforts aren't needed, guys - there would have been one anyways.

LOL I remember that one as well. I just brought up DMC4 because it was a Capcom title as opposed to FFXIII which is Square Enix of course...
And I would care too if I were the poor bastards. The 360 has lost relatively few titles compared to sony. Eternal Sonata and Bioshock came/are coming basically a year later. Who cares? All the hype and fun of the game was last year. Anyone who truly wanted to play it got it last year.
The big titles remain exclusive to the 360.

Gears & Halo are 'big' titles but one could argue their quality as titles. If your gaming life absolutely revolves around Halo & Gears you need help anyway.
This news furthers my defense of the PS3 actually. People say it has no games, when it has pretty much all the same games that 360 has -_-

I'm not a fanboy of any system as I own all of them. So I feel I speak unbiased. I love my PS3 and my 360. I play and love both consoles. After having the Wii for so long and still not playing and enjoying any new games I really see it as a toy more than a gaming system. The idea of the Wii was great. I think with the Motion Plus and the games that come out after that will be much more enjoyable. I'm really looking forward to those. But I won't buy the bundle of the Motion Plus with Resort until a real game gets announced. I think I spoke to much. No one cares anyway =P Sorry all

What the hell?? Now what use do I have for my PS3 if most/all games from now on will be multiplatform, aka, developed solely on the Xbox360 then make a crappy port to the PS3! And everyone wonders why the X360 version is better :S
I think I'd be better off with a X360 for now. Damn, I hate this and M$' pockets!

Yeah when they say multiplatform I'm pretty sure they mean 360, PS3, and sometimes PC.
Developers tend to classify the Wii as something separate from the rest of gaming, kind of in the same way they treat handhelds in terminology.
Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if a bit of Option 2 turned out to be true.

PS3 Exclusives-FFvXIII, LBP, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Socom Confrontation, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, White Knight Story, Cross Edge, MAG, The Agency, DC Universe Online
360 Exclusives-Gears 2, Fable 2, Banjo: Nuts and Bolts, Halo Wars, Peter Jacksons Halo, Star Ocean 4, Alan Wake
So yeah PS3 Exclusives>360 Exclusives
Although I am a sucker for Gears 2, and Star Ocean 4 =D
Every other 360 game can be found on PC or PS3. Such as Left 4 Dead, Final Fantasy XIII, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, and Last Remnant.
Timed exclusivety doesn't count since it'll end up on PS3 anyway.

I find it even more interesting that the one thing people seemed really excited for about the console is now the one thing they hate the most, waggle.

Waggle, improved Wii Motion or no, the crippling factor for the Wii is the lack of quality 3rd party titles. But I guess I can't blame devs, all the good old-looking games have already been made on the PS2.

I see multi platform games done in groups.
Group 1 - 360, PS3, possibly PC
Group 2 - Wii, PS2, possibly PSP
Group 3 - PSP, DS
The wii will probably get shafted with the high end gaming, but that's not to say they won't get new IP's and such.

Hey guys! This comment makes a lot of sense!
I normally hate it when people do the "+1" comments, but I can't help it - if I hadn't been decent enough to scroll before commenting, I would've said the exact same thing.

Does this cover the Wii getting the crappy versions ie: Dead Rising Wii?
I live in Alaska and most stores have Alaska in the title so they do not have to honor lower 48 deals or pricing. So Sears Alaska will not put siding on your house.
Kinda the same deal.

I'm still not sure whether Palin is the most brilliant political strategem ever (it's as good as McCain painting the side of the bus with "hey disgruntled hillary supporters, come over here!"), or one of the most idiotic moves of all (notably the hypocrisy of the Republicans having their "1 heartbeat away" being even more inexperienced than the competition that they so readily trash)
I kinda feel both ways about it. Not that i wish to derail the subject.

As long as this doesn't turn Square-Enix on us. I don't care that FFXIII is going to be on other systems, that's awesome for people with 360's, but they clearly stated that US PS3 owners will ahve to wait the extra dev time that it takes to port it over for a simultaneous launch.
Ideally for players, I think they should develop a game with a certain system in mind, and work on ports later. I think Capcom already figured that out with all the ports of Code Veronica, and the success of RE4.

We really don't know what's become of MH3. There hasn't been a peep out of Capcom about it since the day they made that fanboy-hell-raising announcement "We switched it to Wii because PS3 dev costs were too high"
They could conceivably be doing anything with it, at this point.

So long as Dark Void, Street Fighter IV, Bionic Commando (both remake and new game), Resident Evil 5, etc. make it on the Wii too. Seriously, the Wii gets like the short end of the stick and PS3 fans can do nothing but complain about one game like Monster Hunter, which, in all likelihood, will at least get a PS3 version.
