Destroy All Humans! Intellivision Lives! New Xbox Originals Sept. 15!

It's high time for some real talk about Xbox Originals. Specifically, who's choosing what makes the cut? Not that Destroy all Humans! or Intellivision Lives! are bad games by any means. It's just that, when you think of a service that could be offering the best, exclusive games from a system's previous generation on the current one via the interwebs, you'd hope they'd be more ... original and memorable.
As it stands, we're getting a complete mish-mash of revered and forgettable moments from the annuls of the original Xbox. How about some Panzer Dragoon Orta or Star Wars: Republic Commando before the likes of Kabuki Warriors? Ahem. Ranting aside, both Destroy All Humans! and Intellivision Lives! hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on September 15 for 1200
($15) each. We'd love to hear which Xbox games you would have join the ranks of the Xbox Originals in comments.

Definitely TES III Morrowind. Great RPG for its time and a game with some great memories.
F1 @ Sep 11th 2008 11:37PM
Speaking of new I just talked to a Microsoft Customer Support guy and he said that the fall update will be coming out Dec. 3rd.
Xoviet chiK @ Sep 11th 2008 11:49PM
Really? I just got off the phone with Microsoft support guy and they said the next generation Xbox is coming out on December 4th. Seems like bad planning on their part. Also, God told Pat Robertson the world would be ending on December 2nd... So Xbox and gaming in general is just trivial at this point.
zuburi @ Sep 11th 2008 11:51PM
My uncle (who is totally a GameStop manager and owns a NeoGeo) says you are both wrong and Microsoft is going to be software-only like Sega.
F1 @ Sep 12th 2008 12:07AM
Ok I called Microsoft back and they're not squawking. But if I managed to get one employ to spill then someone is bound to get the same thing. Seriously try and confirm this before you start ragging.
Titanium_Orchid @ Sep 12th 2008 12:32AM
A time frame around December 3rd would actually be a good time to release the update. A lot of significant game releases have already come out, so there is no need to worry about the update red-ringing consoles before people buy games.
I'm sure that Microsoft will have some servers set aside to deliver the update. An early-to-mid December release would allow current owners to update well before Christmas and will ultimately help to relieve server stress before people who get 360s for Christmas go online.
zuburi @ Sep 12th 2008 1:47AM
Just playing with you. I really just wanted to use the "X has a NeoGeo" line, since that was the lie de jour in Jr. High.
Dirty @ Sep 12th 2008 2:30AM
I just got off the phone with Michael Pachter and he said that Microsoft will be out of business before December. Also that Wii is going to be sold out forever.
Dr Scientist @ Sep 11th 2008 11:38PM
I 2nd Panzer Dragoon: Orta and would like to throw in Otogi ^^
Haggard (Free Mr.ESC!) @ Sep 12th 2008 6:18AM
Is that a Guild Wars skill icon?
t3kni9e @ Sep 11th 2008 11:44PM
KOTOR, KOTOR II and MGS:Substance
Senor Facekick @ Sep 11th 2008 11:47PM
Am I the only one that really liked Destroy all humans? it was funny, and fun. Really fun. The weapons were pretty creative, and the controls kinda sucked but who cares? They ARE still videogames, you know, joystiq.
endlessoul @ Sep 12th 2008 5:59AM
Indeed. I liked the original DAH and am looking forward to the 360 release.
Xoviet chiK @ Sep 11th 2008 11:48PM
I don't know. All the Xbox games I wanted to play I own in their original format, and all the ones I really want to play aren't backwards compatible. I'm looking at you Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, Second Sight, and The King of Fighters 2003 (don't be fooled by the official list... only 2002 works!).
It would also be totally pointless for them to release Breakdown for Xbox Originals when you can still buy it brand new for $5 US.
zuburi @ Sep 11th 2008 11:48PM
Jet Set Radiooooooooooooo
Future
Wiinterfang @ Sep 11th 2008 11:48PM
Why people like DAH so much?
Titanium_Orchid @ Sep 11th 2008 11:49PM
Is Stubbs on there? Stubbs the Zombie would be nice.
The last Mechwarrior game might be fun to, if you could play over Live.
Imadogg @ Sep 11th 2008 11:56PM
I think it is.
And I agree with Randy, we need more epic games on the service.
Courtney @ Sep 11th 2008 11:57PM
Your wish is granted:

Luke @ Sep 11th 2008 11:58PM
Stubbs the zombie is on there. I think they need some Sega GT 2002 online.
Titanium_Orchid @ Sep 12th 2008 12:03AM
oh, I forgot Full Spectrum Warrior, Time Splitters and 50 Cent: Bullet Proof. Am I kidding? I might be. You'll never know 0,o
meatee @ Sep 13th 2008 12:48AM
They could start by making the Timesplitters games backwards compatible in the first place. I still have the real games, and I'd love to be able to play 'em on my 360. (at least the first Timesplitters will play on my PS3.)
Arturo @ Sep 11th 2008 11:49PM
i'd like the thing and shenmue 2
Cody @ Sep 12th 2008 12:01AM
How about Conker Live and Reloaded?
FeaRfarn @ Sep 12th 2008 12:05AM
Conker and JSRF
iFester @ Sep 12th 2008 12:21AM
I just want Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Is that too much to ask for?
John Z @ Sep 12th 2008 7:28AM
Considering the licensing hell that game has to go through, yes, sadly, it is too much to ask. (Believe me, I feel your pain: I paid $70 for a PS2 copy with no instructions.)
ScallionN @ Sep 12th 2008 12:23AM
Metal Wolf Chaos should be released November 04th, 2008. I would pay like, $50 for that.
JAH75157 @ Sep 12th 2008 12:25AM
intellivision lives would be worth it just for night stalker
Markez @ Sep 12th 2008 12:35AM
Y'know I do have some fond, fond memories of playing Intellivision. Those lovable paddles and key pads. Games like Sea Battle and the D&D games...
But sweet lord I would never, ever, want to play them again at this point...
blahblahbloo @ Sep 12th 2008 12:42AM
I vote for Panzer Dragoon Orta.
B @ Sep 12th 2008 1:08AM

Gurbinder @ Sep 12th 2008 7:01AM
wasnt this cancelled for psp? forgot why
LaughingTarget @ Sep 12th 2008 7:56AM
Gun Valkyrie
Gimbal @ Sep 12th 2008 8:22AM
The Brothers in Arms games would be nice. I foolishly gave my brother my old Xbox so now I can't play them. Although for the price I'd pay to buy them on the 360 I could probably just buy a used Xbox.
Evan @ Sep 12th 2008 9:02AM
It's the same with the PSOne games offered on PSN - most of the PSOne's greatest hits are still absent. And Nintendo's Virtual Console seems to be completely random.
I'm not justifying Microsoft's selection of games, I'm just saying crappy choice seems to be the norm.
deaftly @ Sep 12th 2008 9:33AM
Seriously, where the fuck is Republic Commando?
Conor @ Sep 12th 2008 1:52PM
It was this star wars game where you played one of the "elite clones" leading your little squad.
I liked it.
deaftly @ Sep 12th 2008 5:36PM
W.H.E.R.E.
Wiinterfang @ Sep 12th 2008 10:05AM
I want Microsoft to give me my SEGA love.
So JSRF,Shenmue 2,Gunvalkyrie,Outrun and Panzer Dragon plzkthnxby.
Firewall @ Sep 12th 2008 10:33AM
Utopia on Intellivision is one of my favorite games of all time. I might have to pick up the intellivision lives pack!
FSK405K @ Sep 12th 2008 11:57AM
No one has mentioned the Halo games? I know one of the first two is on the XB originals section now, but isn't one of them still yet to be put there?
Conor @ Sep 12th 2008 1:54PM
Halo 2 isn't up there.
Conor @ Sep 12th 2008 1:51PM
