ya, i got the game when it first came out. for 15 dollars, you can't really go wrong with this game. i dont exactly know how many hours i ended up getting out of this game (it was still easily over 15 or 20 hours though). the campaign is relativly tough, the learning curve isn't too steep, if you've ever played a game like advance wars then its essentially the same thing. btw, there are TONS of different divisions to choose from.

Sites such as Gamespot.com are an infinitely better resource for game reviews than asking on pspfanboy (or any other forum for that matter). Unless you are specifically asking how it compares to another particular PSP game.

(Honestly, I never understand the "I've never heard of this" posts.)

This is actually a really good game... I've had it on rent for ages with Lovefilm, and it's ideal for the platform; turn-based allows for pick-up put-down play as well as being most suited to strategy games without mice control, campaigns are varied and challenging. Can't seem to buy it anywhere in the UK at the moment, so hope it becomes available on the UK PSN.

That game is highly overlooked. People call it an advanced war clone, but theres much more strategy involved with different the CO abilities. They took the CO power thing further.

I can't believe you guys got Field Commander! That was my favorite game on the PSP until Monster Hunter came out! I wish I lived in the U.S right now. :(
FYI Field Commander is a more "mature" version of Advance Wars. There are some minor differences but all in all they play the same. FC has better graphics but AW has more memorable characters. Some complained FC had worse story but on the other hand it had online competition. There you go, a little mini-review.

Field Commander is one of those few titles that really make me wish i had a PSP

Not to knock the handheld. If i had a PSP there is a lot of stuff i would play, but field commander is one of those games that actually make me "jealous" so to speak

One of my biggest disappointments in owning a PSP, is that Sony never made a sequel to this game. It was pretty good, but there was just so much potential to do more with it.

Indeed, Sony Online seems to have ceased all PSP development altogether (they also did the so-so Untold Legends games).

I agree with NoBUllet... this game is superior to the AW series :D Yeah the story is cheesy, but lets be honest its a TBS :D The gameplay is great and the graphics are en-par with most 2002-2005 TBS PC games. Yes there are a couple of slowdowns, but overall its the best strategy game on the PSP, and a great one it is :D

Why are both the Advance Wars games on the DS better than this?

Oh man, I actually really liked this game and was regretting that I traded it away since it (apparently) went out of print. I'll definitely pick this up.
