The thing is, this is the price it should have been in the first place.

Microsoft generally sets the prices, not the company publishing it. 800 MS points is entirely reasonable for 4 maps (although they could have been better for the price).

I'm so glad we have Microsoft PR in here, telling us that it's "entirely reasonable" to charge 800 MS points for maps that are free on PC and basically suck (they could have been better).

Good job. Don't forget to bill your 15 minutes hunting and pecking that propaganda into the comment field.

And please, give us some more of your spin later. We wouldn't know what to think without you.

Until all console multiplayer games can get custom maps and privately owned game servers; this is the kind of extortion you're going to be facing on a regular basis.

But obviously MS and Sony have no incentive to open up to the whole custom content scene unless like LBP it's used as a selling point.

I feel like buying it, but... I also feel like they will be making it free one day. I can't decide.

That what I figured at first, but a quick look through the marketplace reveals that Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 3's premium maps are still selling for original MSP value.

I really hope nobody bitches about being an early adopter, unless they purchased them recently, which really sucks for them.

Good for anyone who has purchased the game recently (as anyone who plays online should already have these). But then again, the GOTY edition came with these.. either way, sounds like a nice gesture.

Infinity Ward isn't the culprit: once again, the internet (*cough* joystiq *cough*)seemingly neglects to mention the fact that things aren't all that bad for PS3 owners.

Honestly, buy the GOTY version or download the extra maps.
If you enjoyed COD4, it's worth supporting. I don't mind paying(read: "donating")a *little* extra to push good games.

Yeah there are pretty, ahem, *selective* in their posts.

Like how they didn't mention Bioshock's DLC for PS3, or how they won't post about that huge insider article about the RRoD. It's still affecting plenty of people, even the newer versions and they knew even before it was on shelves that it was a problem, but why would people want to know that?

Yes, because the entire Joystiq staff are on the payroll of Microsoft. The 'stiq is actually based in Redmond and they get paid a big bonus for every anti-PS3 post they run. It's all true.

oh i've had it since it came out, just thought it was rather stupid that the 360 users get it half off, not the ps3 folks.

I'd wait for reviews on World at War first. Treyarch aren't terrible developers, but they're not incredible either. But Activision's marketing department are very good at what they do; and one of those things is making games look great.

i think the real problem with CoD 3 was they just didn't have time. I feel like the real problem was Activision rushing them out to press to make teh moniez

I'll probably buy them now, I play CoD 4 a lot but I don't care for a lot of the maps. I had heard that these ones weren't much better but by now something new would be nice

What people are forgetting is Nvidia sponsored these maps for PC users so they could have them for free. The maps originally weren't going to come out on PC at all. I doubt IW would have given the credit to Nvidia if Nvidia hadn't actually laid out the cash.

Get a PC. Experience REAL AIM.

It's real.

Oh and updates are free on PC.

But I guess thats why you guys on console pay for them in the first place, because everything is noobified... and noobification takes precious time and money.

And what I really mean by "pay for them" is XBOX people paying for LIVE.

The cost is noobification.

Can't handle being a newb for a while? MATCHMAKING$$

Can't handle technical issues and game management? AUTOSETTINGS$$

Need to feel like you're actually doing more than you're actually doing? ACHIEVEMENTS$$

No keyboard to play games with a specific person on a specific server via cut and paste host adresses? LISTENSERVERBASEDLIVEINTEGRATIONDEVELOPMENT$$

YAY enjoy your dinner Xbots. Its already been mashed and salivated for you for by M$ for extra $$ which you are all too happy to give to them too often.

So, fk off Activision I'm reporting you to the BBB and a BIG THANK YOU to all the game websites promoting free maps on this version. Thanks for promoting bait-n-switch guys.
