Microsoft confirms 120GB HDD reduced to $149

We're well aware of what many of you are thinking: At $149 (previously $179), the new price of the Xbox 360's 120 gigglebyte hard drive is still pretty steep. Though we're surprised it took this long for confirmation to arrive, the hard drive price drop occurred in conjunction with the console price cuts that hit last weekend. It's amazing to think that for just $50 more, you could pick up an entire console -- the $199 Arcade model.

You guys that railed on me for suggesting that $150 is not as bad as it sounds, should know I sold my old 20GB for $45 in under 3 hours and made the $150 = $105.
You pay what you have to pay.. simple as that. Since it is a proprietary form factor it's going to add to the cost a bit. OH WELL. Bitch and moan like I did when it was priced at $180. At least they finally brought the price down $30.

You guys are all so full of shit its really sad. The hard drive is NOT, repeast NOT using a propriatary form factor. Its a damn shell housing a standard 2.5" laptop drive.

And unless they have changed from the ones pictured above they are using the cheaper 5400 drives. Price in bulk for MS? Maybe....maybe $50. that includes the shell and the interface to the 360. Face it. This is pure rape to avoid people just getting an arcade and upgrading. I would have less of an issue with this if MS focused their differentiation on something other then a drive so we can drop some bank on a 300GB drive, pop it into the cage, and have the system format and encrypt it. But no. We have to get stuck with a 120GB drive, and when that filled up? Another $150 for the 200GB drive that will undoubtedly come out next year.
I want to like the 360. I really do. But this smacks of some serious BS policies being floated, as in the toilet, at MS.
