MotorStorm: Pacific Rift rides into retail Oct. 28
Sony announced today that island racer MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will drive into stores October 28. The PlayStation Blog also mentions that those who pre-order the title at GameStop will receive the demo. Beyond racing against the computer, the demo features split-screen racing against a real-life buddy.
Those wary of pre-order deals also have the option of downloading it from PSN ... even though they'll still have to pay for the privilege. It's available today in North America for those who purchased the fourth episode of Qore.

Anyone played the Qore demo yet? Is it OUT?

Don't know. But, I did just get a pre-order ticket for the demo from my gamestop buddy. You can always pre-order it and then cancel your pre-order.

I really like the first one, but the lack of splitscreen kind of ruined it.
The new tropical island location is also really cool. I love the look of the volcano level.
This is definately a day one buy for me. =)

For me, this is pretty much MOTORSTORM 1.5... since every one of its newer features and gameplay attributes *should've* been in the first game. Especially considering rally-ish games like this normally have a majority of the new features offered in this one by default. :\
Of course, the same could be said about DiRT, but I consider that to be more of a sim rally racer than the arcade-feel of MOTORSTORM.
Hyams @ Sep 11th 2008 1:06PM
That may be why it's called MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, rather than MotorStorm 2.
It's basically MotorStorm 1, with one new vehicle, a new setting, twice as many levels, and 4 player split screen.
Still, I'm plenty content with this. =)
FOXHOUND @ Sep 11th 2008 1:49PM
Exactly. Much like "zero2dash" and "Dirty" mentioned below, PURE was surprisingly decent... so at the moment I'm torn on the two. However, given the variety of PACIFIC RIFT, I'm still leaned toward purchase of that.

Finally some fucking splitscreen multiplayer!
Am I the only one noticing it seems to be dying out in favor of online multiplayer? Sometimes, there's just nothing like playing with your friends in the same room as you. :(
Dirty @ Sep 11th 2008 1:13PM
I think that this comes from Microsoft. The only way to play together is to get a xboxlive gold account. Dirty bastards.
It is a better experience with your own screen though, I find it hard to play with split screen now.
The option should be there though.
Cellien @ Sep 11th 2008 12:40PM
Gawd damn Sony. The point of the retail demo is to show people how good your game is. Not to market some other game or force you to preorder a game JUST to test out that very same game! Point missed.
Ranus Studios @ Sep 11th 2008 12:44PM
Splitscreen FTW.
AlterEgo @ Sep 11th 2008 12:56PM
Worst screen you could find?
AlterEgo @ Sep 11th 2008 3:12PM
Now, that's more like it.
zero2dash @ Sep 11th 2008 12:57PM
Between Motorstorm and the PURE demo, I'm happier with the PURE demo. I think I'll be passing on Pacific Rift and picking up PURE instead.
Dirty @ Sep 11th 2008 1:13PM
Pure was surprisingly awesome.
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Sep 11th 2008 2:16PM
Not so surprising. It is made by the guys who did ATV Offroad Fury.
atrimus @ Sep 11th 2008 1:07PM
still undecided about Pacific Rift. loved the first Motorstorm, but that was back when there wasn't much on either system to get excited about. between LBP, GOW2, Resistance 2, Fable 2, Rock Band 2, Fallout 3, Valkyria Chronicles, and L4D, i'm just not sure i can squeeze in any Pacific Rift time.
Deaddy @ Sep 11th 2008 1:16PM
Wasn't happy with Motorstorm. Was going to give 2 a shot by checking out the demo, but there's no way I'm going to pay for a demo.
russtophiles @ Sep 11th 2008 1:18PM
I know using demos as a preorder incentive is nothing new but..... I could swear the whole point of a demo was to decided if you WANTED to buy the game, not after the fact. Acting like a demo is a bonus is a crappy tactic when it should be on PSN no strings attached right now. Pure did it, no reason Motorstorm can't.
Kodros @ Sep 11th 2008 1:34PM
Who said that there wouldn't be a free PSN demo at some point before release? From what I heard, there will be one in about a month.
russtophiles @ Sep 11th 2008 1:45PM
Oh okay, that's not so bad I guess. I was worried that was some emerging new trend. A demo as a preorder bonus still seems silly though as its pretty much the most pointless preorder bonus you could get. It immediately loses all worth once you have the game itself.
Rk0n @ Sep 11th 2008 1:39PM
The first Motorstorm was sick. You can't deny that for when it came out it was technically and graphically proficient. It blew my mind by the graphics and all, the online was always fun but the lack of split-screen did throw it off. This game will be just as fun, maybe not as innovative but it'll be new content to refresh the good'ole dirt racing days of holding down X till your crap yourself.
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Sep 11th 2008 2:19PM
My problem with the first Motorstorm was that there was no real sense of speed at all. It felt very slow to me, which did not compliment the rather slippery controls. Looking forward to playing the demo of the new one and seeing how it fares. The videos make it seem like it's much faster.
Vcize @ Sep 11th 2008 2:21PM
With games like Grid and Pure already in a similar genre, and with the rest of the crazy amazing fall lineup coming out between the 360 and PS3, I can't see a way to squeeze this one in. Even the demo, most likely.
Immortal Technique PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Sep 11th 2008 2:43PM
This is a must buy for me on day 1. I did not get in on the first motorstorm until late and I was completely blown away. The game is incredible.
I haven't tried pure yet but I can't see myself picking up a 4 wheeler game over a more full featured rally game. I was going to get Force Unleashed until I played the demo so maybe now I will pick up Pure & pacific Rift.
spyder @ Sep 11th 2008 2:53PM
YAY, screenshots from a rendered video! Didn't Motorstorm learn from the last time they did this..
sirpilf @ Sep 11th 2008 5:46PM
ummmm all those screens are either concept art, or in game screens... i hate when people say that shit. i remember when they posted the last trailer of all 100% gameplay someone said they are saving judgement until they show gameplay not pre-rendered. with comments like those i either think its:
a) sony fanboy trying to make others think he is an xbot who doesnt realize the "amazing graphis" are actually real.
b) xbox fanboy who doesnt realize they are in game, and not like its hard to believe, look how good GT5 looks
c) someone who knows absolutely nothing about videogames.
sirpilf @ Sep 11th 2008 5:50PM
oh... and i hope the next halo, halo wars, fable (there was one CGI) trailers arent prerendered either... maybe theyw ill "LEARN FROM THEIR LESSON" wow there are so many prerendered trailers. i just dont get why only sony gets bashed for it.
point bieng, stfu, all game companies release pre-rendered trailers, atleast guerilla can live up to theirs, halo3 looks like crap compared to that teaser with the kids laying in the grass.
Christian @ Sep 11th 2008 3:15PM
Just came here to point out the obvious irony of releasing a demo with a pre-order (or purchase in general, i.e. Qore)
CenturionRyan @ Sep 11th 2008 4:02PM
Now, you can say what you want about Motorstorm as a gameb, but that there box art is fudging awesome.
Wiinterfang @ Sep 11th 2008 7:29PM
Only on Playstation.
For now. DUN DUN DUN
