It seems Koei's PSP ports are just coming out of the woodwork. Not more than a few days ago, the Japanese corp stated new games were to be shown at TGS; a day later we know what those games are. One is a port of Warriors Orochi 2, and another, we've found out, is this: Dynasty Warriors Multi Raid.
The title is yet another multiplayer co-op game (who'd a thunk it?) that's based off of Dynasty Warriors 6 (probably more specifically on the PS2 version). It'll be out later this year in Japan and scheduled for "winter." While it's not altogether surprising to hear that Koei's offerings are ports, we can't help but feel disappointed at the lack of something really new and original ... but, we should've seen that one coming from a mile away.

Well, guys at KOEI aren't too innovative with their Dynasty Warriors anyway.
I would've loved to see some game in the Tactics style tho, like Dynasty Warriors tactics. That was a great game.
A new version of Uncharted Waters or even Inindo would've been great too.

Port?
It's a brand new Dynasty Warriors game, and the first original Koei venture as well.
According to scans, it's multiplayer heavy and not related to the same period as the other Dynasty Warriors games. This new title is based on Chinese mythology and features multiplayer co-op play where players band together to fight hordes of monsters and bosses.
Smart move by Koei as such PSP games are in demand and Sengoku Musou is a huge franchise in Japan as well.

I'm adverse to calling games "original" when it's basically the same thing with a few cosmetic changes and a little more fantasy thrown in (sound familar to the Orochi games?). Any way you want to dress it up... it's still the same old game.

How can it be the same old game when it's now completely focused on multiplayer, and there's 'character transformation' being mentioned in the scan?
We're having nice discussion about the game here - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334796

Until Koei learns how to code some competent A.I. (for your allies and enemies), then it is the same retrodden game the have been making since Dynasty Warriors 2.
