Prize for stupidity goes to the first person to say "WHAT?!? You have to pay to get the trophies?!" After only reading the not entirely clear story title.

i hope these pain labs will not require pain in the arse downloading at the start of every time you play, or will require downloading every week. that said they are pretty basic so it shouldnt take too long. I cant understand which concept they might be exploring in this first one though

They should release a PAIN Starter Pack that includes a handful of characters, amusement park, for a budget price.

I really like PAIN and I'm glad I purchased it, but I'm sorry - some of this stuff should be free. Charging for characters is retarded (even if they're .99 cents). I think there should be more than 1 'area' included in the full game for a $9.99 asking price. If it were $5.99 like PixelJunk Racers, I'd accept the fact that it's pretty barebones. But it's not; it's the same price as games that come with a lot more (PixelJunk Eden, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, The Last Guy). It makes me wonder if there's no demo of the game available because they figure people would pass on it if they played it beforehand and saw how minimal in features that it is.

I agree its ridiculous! Is it even a game?! Its more like a tech demo of a physics engine. i like it, and it passes the time with now custom soundtracks to boot, and i have all the characters bar the latest 3. but the whole affair is a money making con.

The way you worded the article's title makes it sound like you have to pay for trophies.

Pain is the worst game for the PSN. Its the worst example of micro-transactions and should be considered the way NOT to develop and market a game for the PSN. The whole $1 for this and $2.99 for that to get a new player or now trophies is corrupt and should not be tolerated by Sony. Sony should pull Pain from the PSN if they choose to continue to rape customers $1 at a time, and I can't see too many people supporting this game anyways, so Sony should not.
Had Pain even considered bundling updates and new content at regular intervals for a nominal fee (like Warhawk) , it would be tolderated more then pushing useless mini-DLC to enhance a game that was purposely developed to be sparse and boring from the start.
Everyone should boycott Pain and its DLC because this is not how to treat PS3 owners and is not the spirit of the PSN. Idol Minds should take this crap to the Xbox Live network.

"PAIN patch adds trophies and more ... if you pay for it"

This is a horribly misleading title. Please fix it.

It's a good game, but the micro-transactions suck. I have bought 3-4 characters, I really only enjoy Scurvy Dog. Saying that, I will probably download the amusement park addon, but no new characters.

i still think these trophies are hard or will take some time to get ... i'm not complaining but all balls in the BIN and 100 Million points .. i played for about 2 hours and haven't gotten much points ... i don't think i'm really gonna try for the trophies .. except for the Bowling ones that would be much easier to get of them all

Topher, this is the first pay add-on for Pain aside from the optional additional characters at 99 cents. Big deal. Don't buy the characters. The Amusement Park brings more content than the original game, at almost half the price. They've been adding new modes and set-ups for free up until now. The trophy patch is free. Quit being ignorant.

I agree with others that some of this stuff should be free.
Maybe not the park expansion.. but at least some of the characters..
WHen my friend played it he thought it was a demo, 1 level, 2 characters.. stupid.

If you actually play the game to its fullest, you will actually get your $10 out of it. My friends and I play the multiplayer games like Bowling and Throw the Mime which can be fun/comical/challenging, though it got boring after the first week (but hey, it kept us occupied). Don't get me wrong, PAIN should have included all the characters for free and should have released more than one level at release. They should have also released more expansions a lot sooner than now, but that's their choice and with so many other amazing PSN titles already out for the same price or less, it will be a hard sell for Idol Minds imo.

the only thing i would consider paying for... is a level editor or level creator... the would make the game playable for me again.

What happened to internet multiplayer? They were definitely touting that with the Amusement Park expansion - so what gives? Did they announce it first and then decide to charge extra for it and release it separately? I like PAIN, but I always feel like they're milking me for all the money I have. A dollar for extra ragdolls is the biggest ripoff ever and if they make me pay even more for multiplayer, I'll be quite pissed.

I'm glad that pain came free with my MGS4 bundle because I might have bought it and been disappointed with it.

Why pay for characters? I can possibly understand new stages, but characters? Do these new characters add any advantage?

Also, I see a trademark infringement... Here in Orlando, there are two small (acutally fun) midway type parks called FUN SPOT...

me and my girlfriend have loved this game ever since we got the MGS4/80GB PS3 Bundle back in late June. I'm very, very glad this game came free with it, because I would have never came across such a great game otherwise.

I beat MGS4 9 times. I got the BBE, all weapons, you name it...I loved the game; trust me. it was the whole reason I got the console. but I always find myself coming back to Pain. it's a very fun and truely challenging title. if I were to have paid for it, I would say it was worth every penny. I just bought the AP today, along with 4 extra characters. again; worth every penny. plus you have to think...theres plenty of things Idol Minds give us inbetween expansions, at no cost at all.

it's a very genuine game, folks; and it's actually pretty in-depth, too. it's a shame that it's rather crude sense of humor, and simple (at short glance) concept is seen by some as unappealing, because there really is alot more too it than it may seem. theres something in it for everyone.

just to show, my favorite games include RE4, Okami and the MGS series...I've beaten all of these on the hardest difficulties, under the harshest of circumstances. yet Pain always leaves me (AND my girlfriend) with something to do/achieve. and it's not because I'm bored with everything else. it really keeps us coming back by it's own force.

I don't mean to preach; but this game (as well as Idol Minds) diserves well. I don't see any reason the AP shouldn't cost atleast $10. instead, it only costs $6. do yourselve's (and Idol Minds, of course) a favor, and truely give it (Pain/AP) a try (with an open mind) if you havn't already.
