You just knew that Monday's rumor of a televised "relaunch" for Xbox 360 planned for September 25 on G4 was too good to be true. Although, with everything its sheer madness (hey, we called it!) promised – the New Xbox Experience release; new, free Xbox Classics; huge exclusives revealed – it was one rumor everyone (well, make that "everyone with an Xbox 360 or lack of console favoritism") very much wanted to become fact. Alas, not this time.
G4 has flat-out denied plans for any such event – let alone one lasting five hours – with X-Play host Adam Sessler making the rumor (and internet rumors in general) the subject of his latest "Sessler's Soapbox" rant, which you can watch after the break. That is, if your will to continue hasn't been utterly crushed by the busting of this nigh-legendary hoax.
Not that I have a problem with paying for Live, but I'd rather see that service go free before free games are given out. They'd be improving their image and taking a bullet-point out of the PS3 fanboys' talking points all in one fell swoop.
Agreeing with Marty. Give us free Live. I'll gladly pay for games, but I'm less inclined to pay for what I can do for free on my PC, Wii, and (if I get one) PS3.
Especially seeing as they are named M$...I mean, they just flaunt that money around using a $ like that. Did you all get the $ thing from a kiddie site someplace?
He really shouldn't have a Tetris screensaver going in the background when he does those. At least I hope that was a screensaver. If that was some poor intern forced to play Tetris poorly while that dude talked, somebody should be beaten with Adam's soapbox.
It's too bad it probably won't happen, because 6 free originals and announcements for ME 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 would really take away the pain of having a new (and unnecessary) ugly dashboard and the ridiculous avatars.
Does Joystiq realize that part of Sessler's rant is targeted at their very own reporting style? I.e. that it's irresponsible journalism to merely report the existence of a rumor instead of actually investigating its validity. Funny you would embed that video when he's clearly talking about sites like this.

Sessler specifically said that he wasn't complaining. And to be fair, Joystiq always posts the update to the story and never intends to mislead anyone.
Like most other people this whole launch with free games and such really did seem to good to be true, so this isn't a surprise. Still, I was hoping it would magically be true and we would get some free XBox originals. Oh well.
I was saying Boo-urns.... that's classic. Points to the person who made the simpsons reference. But, really if there is one announcement that should be made its Duke Nukem Forever...... and/or Shenmue 3. Please Please on Shenmue 3. We need a conclusion to one of the best (and unknown) games of all time.
