New Xbox Experience: 'Games Played' changes detailed

Microsoft's own Gamerscore Blog is kicking off what it hopes will be a weekly series of New Xbox Experience primers leading up to the new dash's "late fall" release. For the first installment, the crew chose to focus on the newly revamped Games Played tracker, and what exactly makes it worthy of being part of a new experience.
As it's explained, selecting your Gamercard now displays a series of subsequent Games Played "slides" behind it, which you can fan through. The first card focuses on every game you've ever fired up on your console. It displays your current Gamerscore and the maximum possible Gamerscore you could hope to earn by unlocking every Achievement in every game you've played. Similarly, it displays the current number of Achievements you've unlocked out of the total number available in all the games you've played.
Subsequent slides focus specifically on single games, with similar Gamerscore and Achievement tallies just for them. Your most recent Achievements in each game are also displayed. The Gamerscore team says that if you've played 500 games, there will be 500 individual Games Played slides; let's hope there's an equally clever system for quickly sorting through them all.

Major Nelson has a Hitler avatar?
Immortal Technique PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Sep 12th 2008 7:16PM
That's one effiminete looking Hitler. Nice jeans ... NOT
How the times have changed. When I was a kid it was "cool" to wear baggy ass Cross Colors jeans and then the JNCO fad came along. Now, these kids want to wear all black, have tight jeans and wear PINK.
2012 can't get here fast enough as far as I am concerned.

Can we Private Chat and such while playing Xbox 1 games?
Megadanxzero @ Sep 12th 2008 7:11PM
How exactly does he have 1095 Gamerscore and only 95 Gamerscore in 'All Games'?
I sense some shooping...

According to the source:
The team has created a mock account for Major Nelson (Yes, we know the Gamerscores don’t match up on his account but that is because we created this screen shot on a build that is still being worked on)."
L2R, nub! :-)

totally off topic, but: is it me, or does joystiq seem to only choose Playstation stories to display their witticism? i can't help but wonder that, had PS3 received a similar story like this, joystiq would've been laced it with all sorts of snide quips and remarks.
Immortal Technique PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Sep 12th 2008 7:27PM
Well I would tend to agree (that the PS3 gets the jokes) but the fact of the matter is they do to all of the consoles. Usually, there isn't a week that goes by without a fanboy of one particular console saying that Joystiq is biased and hating.
PS3 certainly gets the most followed by RROD snares and the Wii is a joke in it of its self. Joystiq is so biased against the PS3.
Look I lived up to my own stereotype.

Nah the wii is their current punching bag since E3, and well deserved too.
Mr Khan @ Sep 12th 2008 7:37PM
tmac's right. snark and quips, deserved and undeserved, low blows and righteous, mostly directed at the Wii
It really seems that a bad E3 is what gets you in joystiq's doghouse. Sony had it for a year plus, and now it's Nintendo's turn
Of course, as a Nintendo fanboy, i am now obligated to call out all their crap, which i take full advantage of.

Don't worry, it always gets lost and ends up hitting me.

I don't mind trifling through my many games played, just take off the freakin' demos from my record!! Since a demo is only a part of a level and not actually a game, don't post it as game played. Am I right here?
aristokrat @ Sep 13th 2008 8:25AM
Amen to that. It's almost a disincentive to try XBLA demos because they clog up your "Games Played" list. Why bother listing them if you can't possibly get achievements in them anyway, other than to say that this game was not fun enough for me to consider purchasing it (which doesn't seem like the kind of word-of-mouth Microsoft would want for these games)?
theturtle363 @ Sep 12th 2008 8:03PM
well dang, I have a fairly impressive score, but there's a lot of games I pop in once and never play again, that's gonna make me look pathetic. Dang
Tamer Brad @ Sep 13th 2008 4:52AM
worrying that people will think you pathetic for having played a game only briefly is, in itself, pretty pathetic

Anybody have a date that this update is going to be pushed out? I needs me some Netflix.
quasebrasileiro @ Sep 13th 2008 2:35PM
Exactly what I want to know. "Late Fall" is as good an estimate I can find.
MOT @ Sep 13th 2008 4:26AM
Why does each game get it's own page? If you have 500 games, you have 500 pages? That's just sloppy. They should have a template, and every time you move between games in a list, that games data fills out the data. What's so hard about that?
HotRats @ Sep 13th 2008 3:33PM
I really hope they add the ability to talk to more than one person in a private chat....
