The US box art for the upcoming PSP Star Ocean remakes are surprisingly void of anime characters. Instead, Square Enix USA has opted to go for something a bit more subtle: cracking the world in half. Like those friendship rings of yesteryear, buying both First Departure and Second Evolution and putting them together creates a whole image. As the Square Enix blog says, "How can you own one and not the other?"

Hear! Hear!
I can live without having a single JRPG in my collection. I got sick of them sometime around Ys Book 1 & 2.

And I have no intention of ever buying God of War or Madden.
Different strokes for different folks, as the saying says.

Haha nice move, will definitely force some fanboys to buy both although they don't really want to :-)

I gave up on the series after SO3, I know SO4 will out do it's predecessor it atrociousness. Even though these are repackings(tweaking the sprite colors and adding more animated cutscenes doesn't make it a remake) of the first two games, SE can't reel me into buying them(especially with their standard inflated prices, because they think they're hot ****).

I don't remember reading about it, but are they doing a new translation for Star Ocean 2, or is it the same original, craptastic translation from the PS days? I'm hoping for a new one personally, but I already have them preordered either way.
Also the box art looks cool... I like it.

That's actually pretty nice box art.
Well, I had already decided to pick up both of them way back when I first heard they were coming out, so this is just a nice bonus.

Nooo! Not more anime-styled RPG...
Sorry, I know that some American and European gamers like the style, but this actually puts me off games. Please, Sony and third party developers, give us more western style RPGs!?

I really enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons Tactics, but it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. Once you got past the first couple of levels I found it really engaging and entertaining. And in D&D the characters looked great; not anime and not bulky...

O- ring out the wallets of the desperate.
May desperation lead to broken banks, hearts, and ankles.
