Anyone else think they added "La Bamba" only to offset the volume of rock songs in the game?

David,
Just to confirm - these are ON-DISC songs only (i.e. do NOT include DLC, which Wii may/may not get?). If just on-disc, wow - that's a lot. Seems like a lot more than GH3. 4 Tool songs? My wife will flip.

Uh, the title of the post says "on-disc." I thought I was clear on that.
Sorry if I wasn't!

3 tool songs, not 4. Still though, there's only 2-3 tracks from Rock Band that I really wish were in GH:WT, but like Moleculo said, Harnonix's botched Wii release of RB means a) I can't trust them till after RB2 comes out, and b) I've already got one GH guitar, that I couldn't use with RB2. So I guess GH:WT it is. Of course, I don't know how I can justify nearly $200 for a game, when I only spent 250 on the system. Maybe I'll wait a couple months for it to drop down to 100. (And by that point, I can also see if Harmonix made the Wii version of RB2 properly).

Whoops, 2 other questions:
-I assume (but haven't seen) you can play with as many or few instruments as you want - incl. just solo with 1 guitar? I have 2 GH3 guitars & want to buy just the game itself - for starters;
-Think they'll sell the drums separately (without having to buy the whole thing)?

At release your options -- I think -- are full bundle (game, one guitar, drums), game + guitar bundle or game only. Drums should be sold separately, but not for a while after the release, they'd rather sell you the whole thing.

Pretty happy with this. Only RB2 tracks I'm left jealous of are "Aqualung" and "Teenage Riot". And since I can't trust them to make a respectable product for the Wii and I already have a GH3 guitar, GHWT it is.
Really wish Nintendo would've forced instrument compatibility though, or that someone would come up with a hack to fix that.

can somebody tell me what the hell is the point of putting in live versions of songs?
Posted: Sep 12th 2008 5:43PM (Unverified) said
Original masters of the studio versions might not be useable? Or could be a rights issue -- "Demolition Man" in the game is a live version credited to Sting only rather than the studio cut by the Police, maybe they couldn't get/wouldn't pay more for the Police version.

In the case of "Purple Haze" (and maybe the others) the live version of the song is the definitive/best version and the one that most people associate with it. Also, I believe those live versions will have extended guitar solos, not found on the master versions.
I love this song list!! (Especially seeing 311 at the top of it!! My favorite band.)

Woah! My DAD would really like this playlist... and I'm 27!!!
Sorry folks, but for my money, RockBand2 has a WAAAAAAY better (not to mention hipper) playlist. I like classic rock, but it doesn't meat I wanna pretend to be a in a classic rock band.
When I play air guitar, I pretent I'm a cool current band with hot groupies, not a revival band of Creedence (even though I love Creedence) with rabbid 53 year old women throwing their panties at me.
I know Rock Band has a bunch of classic rock songs too, but c'mon, this seems like it's about 70% old stuff.
