Where are all the Sony games, then? If Sony itself can't put out more than a handful a year, why should 3rd parties?

And I can't seriously believe he mentioned "Buzz!" as an example of a great game Sony is publishing. It's shovelware, a port of a PS2 game.

It's incredible Sony sold 40 million PSPs when you look at the 3rd party support. Developers basically tried to kill PSP in 2006 and 2007 just like they tried (and succeeded) to kill Dreamcast.

Now that PSP is selling a ton (especially in Japan), we see a lot of announcements, with developers trying to cash on the MHP craze with multiplayer offerings. But where were those devs a year or two ago?

I read a previous Yoshida interview, and he admits they made a big mistake by relying on 3rd part developers too much. I think the moral of this story is - Sony need too beef up their internal development as they can no longer rely on 3rd party developers.

It's not 3rd parties, it's PSP owners...

PSP games don't sell in the West. Madden PSP apparently didn't even beat the Wii Madden (as it usually did in year's past) which sold a paltry 115k or so. Despite Sony pushing it with a Madden PSP pack and a lot of advertising.

But unfortunately a game like Madden has very little appeal outside of America. Just like a cricket game is not expected to sell in America...

We see this all the time with games; Japanese and Western gamers have different tastes and the developers are more than aware of that. Personally I really don't like the anime look of a lot of Japanese games so don't buy them.

Third Party support will improve if Sony put enough effort into supporting their own console. And the PSP needs more games like God of War and Patapon to generate interest - oh, and Monster Hunter Freedom 2nd G needs to be released to the west, along with all associated DLC...

NPD don't count count Madden PSP pack sales as the software sales. Just like they didn't count MGS4 pack sales.

According to report, "Fueled by enthusiasm for the Madden NFL 09 PSP Entertainment Pack, 253,012 PSP hardware units were sold. This represents a year-over-year growth of 67%."

Sounds pretty impressive to me.

Sony should be boasting about this like crazy. Any positive news about PSP sales needs to get out to the public.

And people seem to think it's trendy to pirate everything and pay for nothing. Ever. They're killing the console.

Capcom and other publishers really do have the ability to enforce a US and Euro presence. Thinks like Phantasy Star Portable would skyrocket sales. Hopefully.

its all crap. i miss dreamcast i wish i could buy another. sony isnt even trying. they could at least put out some ps1 games on the store to keep the psp busy till we get some new games in. im pretty happy with the games that i own but i want more. its portable and i would love to show off my psp anywhere and everywhere i go. the store is what they should keep updated. they should depend on 3rd party support. YOshida shame on you shame on you.

Dear Shuhei Yoshida,

RELEASE. GAMES.

No, seriously. I went into a video game store, and they were actually selling European PSP games at a huge mark-up. And people buy them. Because there are no games in North America.

I'm just sayin', is all.....

It's the same over here in the UK... People will pay over-inflated prices for American (and some Japanese) games when they are released there 6/12 months before we get to see them here!

You wouldn't believe what people did to get Final Fantasy Crisis Core, and lately, N+. And I'm not even talking about the Signature Series accessories yet - on ebay people are paying $50 for the basic plastic stand because you can't buy it anywhere else!

But it goes further than this; there is a huge back catalogue of PS1 games - Sony could, and should, be releasing 2 or 3 of these games PER WEEK onto the PS Store. And not just one of the stores - the same games should be released worldwide so that all PSP owners are given the same level of service by Sony.

This is not a huge thing to ask for, and if Sony really cared for the console and its owners they would get on and do this... If third party developers see Sony supporting the console then they will follow suit, but if Sony don't show that much interest then why should they?!

I'm talking about games that have been out forever.

Breath of Fire 3 has been released in Europe, in English, for how long now? And it's never going to see the light of day in NA. But you can buy it for the price of 3 or 4 regularly priced games....because it's an import.

I am talking about games that are translated INTO ENGLISH and yet still don't get a release in NA. Not even on the PSN store as pure data (which probably costs less to deal with, seeing as how there is no manufacturing or shipping involved). I'd give my left arm for a legit copy of Breath of Fire III to play on my PSP.

Which is what will kill the PSP.

SCEA,SCEE,SCEJ all have different standards for what is a quality title.

Personally I'd rather see a Breath Of Fire 3 see a NA release as their is the possibility that will appeal to someone and sell a system.

Granted it might not be 3D and is little more than a port but right now SCEA really just needs to realize that not all Sony fans actually like God Of War or Syphron Filter.

More PSP games would be great, but it really is sad that there doesn't seem to be alot of releases outside of Japan.

Phantasy Star Portable would be such a hot release in the states, but it hasn't even been announced yet. There are a bunch of other game too like the Bleach series which already has five titles, or the Gundam games. And let's not even talk about the PSN lack of ps1 games in the states.

The PSP is a powerful system and they should really be supporting it to the fullest. Not all psp owners pirate game ....... come on developers give us something to play.
