Duke Nukem 3D ready for XBLA action Sept. 24
29
The "highly anticipated" re-release of 3D Realms' Duke Nukem 3D received a release date on last night's exclusive-rich episode of GameTrailers TV. The revamped 1996 shooter will be parking its bricks in the XBLA toilet on Sept. 24, complete with eight-player co-op and Blinx-esque Braid-esque rewind capabilities. Also, it apparently has the ability to actually be released, giving it a leg up on the other Nukem title that's currently in production. No word yet on how many Micro-bucks it'll run the discerning, alien-hating 360 owner.

Also, for the rest of you, the bit about Duke Nukem is a little over ten minutes in to the video. Has a little gameplay footage. Game looks to have aged pretty well!

It just donned on me that the title Forever may be a running gag in the games industry and that there was never any plans to make a sequel.

Maybe he'll team up with the Prince of Persia in the crossover event of a lifetime.

Too long in development? Duke3D XBLA was in development for about 5-6 months. That's it!

The free, lighter, "play at work" version will cover me just nicely in the meantime:

Everytime someone butchers a Duke quote, God kills a kitten.

Uh oh. Watch out, Mega Man 9! Duke Nukem 3D is poised to steal your thunder! I don't know, Capcom-- you might want to consider pushing it back! Nobody's gonna buy -that- when they could get -this- instead!

I know I'm going to sound like the very very vocal little kids here, but I hope its not more than 800, heck I don't really wanna get it at that. I only have 500 points at the moment and am not gonna buy another card for this.

If you happen to already have the game somewherer (like everyone) then check out the duke4d engine and you can play the whole thing with WAY better graphics and even in full 3d if you download the updated texture and model packs.
Also, Check out The Doomsday Engline if you want to rediscover how cool Doom2 was (and other doom games).
Of course, you won't have the pleasure of xbox live and pointless achievements...

pretty sure there are ways to use the existing pc version for online deathmatches.. probably not co-op though.
check out: http://hrp.duke4.net/index.php or eduke32 for more details if you want.
(or just the video on http://hrp.duke4.net/media.php for 3d strippers... ;-) )
