McCain and Obama join forces for Saints Row 2 trailer
Things have been fairly aggressive between the two presidential nominees as of late, perhaps largely due to a certain comment involving a farm animal and mouth-based cosmetics. That's why we were so glad to see them squash the beef in a recent Saints Row 2 advertisement (posted after the break), combining forces to wreak havoc across Stilwater (much to the chagrin of their respective campaign staffs, we imagine). We're also glad to see that the character customization in THQ and Volition's crime-riddled sandbox is so versatile. We've already begun planning our own presidential nominee superteams for when the game comes out -- we've always wondered what Roosevelt and Dewey would look like in a gang war.

007craft @ Sep 13th 2008 10:06PM
that trailer made trhe game seem like it was more then 2 player co-op. But its not. still looks good tho. Considering the game comes out in a month, im still wondering why nothing has been said about the multiplayer. The multi in saints row 1 was a nice stepping stone and im hoping to see a completely revamped open world like GTA multi but with stuff to actually do and fun modes like the first siants had. Is this game even still multiplayer? or did they just make it single player only (with co-op)
smcn @ Sep 13th 2008 10:08PM
McCain isn't nearly that young, and Obama isn't nearly that black.
BrotherSimon @ Sep 13th 2008 10:53PM
Truth!
B @ Sep 13th 2008 11:10PM
and McCain is def not that skinny... they forgot about the whole 'skin's-falling-off-your-bones' thing too.
Kokomadeta @ Sep 14th 2008 3:50PM
McCain is surprisingly fit. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.
Clinton RRoD sept.3 @ Sep 13th 2008 10:18PM
i could of sworn they said it will have multiplayer and co-op but the again i could be wrong. i dont really care though i cant wait for this game
playwhutyalike @ Sep 14th 2008 6:33PM
As far as torture goes I'd rather have my arms broken over and over again than to in a pile of guys naked. Wait, wait, my pants are getting tighter.
playwhutyalike @ Sep 14th 2008 6:38PM
That comment was supposed to go below. Shiny new interface, same ol' lame ass comment system and can't change your picture.
BigD145 @ Sep 13th 2008 10:25PM
I figured McCain was too old to lift his arms up high enough to use a computer keyboard, let alone a gun.
malisp @ Sep 14th 2008 1:19AM
You do realize McCain can't raise his arms high (or completely straighten them) because they were both broken while being tortured as a prisoner of war, right?
j.howlett @ Sep 14th 2008 8:20AM
he broke a bunch of stuff when he crashed and didn't get the proper medical care, then they made it worse with torture
fred @ Sep 14th 2008 11:37AM
THAT'S NOT ALL HE CAN'T RAISE
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHsorryillshutup
BigD145 @ Sep 14th 2008 12:38PM
Stephen Hawking can't use his arms, or most of his body at all, but that doesn't stop him from using a computer. I've watched people with no arms at all use everything from a pencil in the mouth to their toes to type.
j.howlett- You can't call it torture. McCain got much the same treatment that Gitmo and other facility inmates get and the Bush admin doesn't call that torture.
Immortal Technique PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Sep 14th 2008 2:36PM
@BigD145
Don't you know it's only torture when it happens to us. Much like it's only terrorism when it hits our soil.
The truth is that McCain was treated better than the people at Gitmo. Also, the vast majority of those people were found to have no connection to any terrorist organizations. But, by saying that fact I am being sympathetic to the terrorist.
svenhoek @ Sep 14th 2008 3:50PM
^^^ROFL. This is why people dont take teenagers seriously.
j.howlett @ Sep 14th 2008 6:24PM
torture is torture. if your going to do it don't be shy about it, call it what it is
Tiptup300 @ Sep 13th 2008 10:32PM
This game is going to be terrible. You can tell by the way they advertise. It's the game equivalent of a fart joke.
ComradeTrotskii @ Sep 13th 2008 11:38PM
That's maybe a positive thing. the first game was... OK, but it tried to take itself far too seriously at times and ended up looking ridiculous for it's effort.
If they just allow some sandbox madness that appeals to the more immature side of us all then it might work very well.
Snowblind @ Sep 14th 2008 5:53AM
Why do so many GTA games try and label this game as "low brow" and then pretend GTA is different?
Snowblind @ Sep 14th 2008 5:54AM
That should of course say "GTA fan" not games :)
j.howlett @ Sep 14th 2008 8:30AM
gta does have it's low brow side but they do it just right. other games seem to try too hard or just miss the mark. this game could be funny if you approach it in the right frame of mind
Kizzle @ Sep 14th 2008 8:55AM
Sounds like a worried GTA fan. SR1 was a great game, underrated by reviewers afraid to give a "rip-off" a high score since for some convoluted reason they think it would hurt their credibility.
Should be the same thing again for SR2. This game looks awesome. I'm trying to rush through GTA4 now, since I have a feeling as soon as SR2 is out I'll never touch it again.
Top Cat @ Sep 14th 2008 5:18PM
Right on Tiptup, every single ad i've seen for this game has infuriated me.
Tiptup300 @ Sep 14th 2008 11:48PM
I was mainly talking about the whole "OMG GTA IV is 20x better, so let's mock it!" ad.
Solid Chief @ Sep 13th 2008 10:55PM
I'm starting to look forward to how stupid this game looks.
Aaron @ Sep 13th 2008 11:17PM
so the ability to make a bald white man and a bald black man is a versatile character creation system?
Snowblind @ Sep 14th 2008 5:52AM
And all the other characters you see in the trailer? There was a lot more than just those two.
aneurysmi @ Sep 13th 2008 11:37PM
Those graphics are not looking good at all.
religiousjedi @ Sep 14th 2008 2:26AM
"(much to the chagrin of their respective campaign staffs, we imagine)."-Truth.
How long till the media blows this outta proportions, people

i wanna see Nader cap some asses!!
aristokrat @ Sep 14th 2008 5:40PM
Just watch some CourtTV, and you'll see him start capping Democrats for pulling his name from numerous ballets.
CHAOS!!! @ Sep 14th 2008 9:56AM
This trailer is made of win. With some luck this may be the spiritual successor to the gta3 games.
fred @ Sep 14th 2008 11:40AM
I was expecting ebony and ivory to play.
Cj @ Sep 14th 2008 12:23PM
Dam...
donkamero @ Sep 14th 2008 1:07PM
Erm, ye so why does a trailer for Saints row mentioning the US presidential election and featuring McCain and Obama have the British national anthem (God Save the Queen) as the soundtarck.
Jaffa @ Sep 14th 2008 5:24PM
It's not. It's actually playing "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" or "America", which is the same tune as "God Save The Queen".
donkamero @ Sep 14th 2008 7:52PM
Someone may have taken the tune and put new lyrics over it, but it's still that dreadful 'God Save the Queen' tune.
mezzanine @ Sep 14th 2008 3:12PM
McPain and O-blam-a.
Kokomadeta @ Sep 14th 2008 3:52PM
I understand why McCain has a gun, but why does Obama? He should have a white flag.
Top Cat @ Sep 14th 2008 5:20PM
I see wut you did there...
...something retarded
LaughingTarget @ Sep 14th 2008 4:35PM
I would pay a sack full of money to watch McCain knee someone in the face. That would be so much epic win that Obama would have no choice but to back out of the race.
zuburi @ Sep 14th 2008 6:13PM
His kneecap would crumble into dust!
Adolph @ Sep 14th 2008 5:37PM
I totally see this be on Fox News tomorrow.
Mccain will be furious and obama just laugh it off.
ManekiNeko @ Sep 14th 2008 11:17PM
That looks as much like Conrad Bain and Todd Bridges as it does John McCain and Barack Obama. It's Diff'rent Strokes... the video game!
Rocketboy @ Sep 15th 2008 9:22AM
"mouth-based cosmetics"
So lipstick is made out of mouths?
walz @ Sep 15th 2008 10:29AM
This game looks really funny. Its funny only because the two main people running for president are in a game. The best part is there working together in this game when in reality all they do is say negative things about eachother. I swear this country has a great sense of humor. Not everyone may think so but I do. Nice to know we can make fun of ourselves and still laugh about it.
