PSN Cards are now at Blockbuster stores. Don't believe us? Watch the above video and check out the PlayStation Blog's Jeff Rubenstein as he confidently strides across the store and proves to you that they exist. Testosterrific! They're available in both $20 and $50 flavors and should be in stores nationwide. Hmmm, isn't WipEout HDaround $20? How convenient! And it's coming out so soon, too ...
So now you don't need a credit card to grab stuff from the PSN Store. You Europeans can stop complaining about Entropay not working anymore, too -- you should be able to buy PSN Card codes far more easily now they're so readily available.
Do you have to pay the tax on the store still, or do you pay the tax when you buy the card? If you still have to pay the tax the $20 card won't buy you Wipeout HD. You would have to get a $50 and have 30 extra dollars.
yeah...you have to pay tax :P even if im not from US i have to pay. Sony region locked everything but not the tax thats great.
So yes, that means you have to buy does 50 dlls cards.. in my personal opinion.. downloable games doesnt worth the money :S. the only games worth are warhawk (wipeout when it comes out)...and its the same price as the bluray version. The other ones are just mini games that you get tired in a week. PSone classics well... i never bought them even when the where new i rent them :P . The only good thing about the store are the movie renta...but i only need DIVX and a good torrent site.
I live in Ohio, and I was charged tax for R&C QFB. I was just wondering if it was applied when you buy the card, or in the actual store. Looks like I'll be passing on Wipeout HD then, I'm not about to buy $50 worth of credit and need to waste 30 on other stuff I don't want.
Just change your address to Vegas and you won't have to pay tax. :)
Also, the card costs $20/$50 exactly, so the tax comes (if your state taxes you for online purchases) WHEN you buy from the PSN Store, not when you buy the actual card.
use visa gift cards. they are in gas stations, walgreens, and cvs. people are like oh no i want to buy blah blah on the psn store. if you are in usa dont whine about it...
@mywhitenoise: In Canada and some states the Playstation Store charges sales tax. I get charged sales tax so that would mean if I got a $20 PSN Card it wouldn't cover the $20 charge for Wipeout HD.
Yeah, I believe Meijer's is a Midwest only store (I live in Michigan). Its a big store like Walmart (There is more Meijer's around here than walmart's.
Don't quote me on this cause I haven't tried it personally (although I hope it is true cause I have $25 loaded on my entropay card), but I read somewhere that if you currently have in entropay card linked to your PSN account it should still work. However, It doesn't seem to accept newly created Entropay cards.
Again, don't go loading up an entropay card based on this alone, it's just what I read.
I stumbled across some $20 PSN cards at a Speedway in East Lansing, Michigan on Sunday. I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought they were only at Meijers.
err just to correct sumone in the uk they are no PSN cards here we got blockbuster here as well & second the PSN STORE have not been updated to make room for psn cards it only say credit card to chose from.
playstation@network -> Transaction Management -> Redeem PLAYSTATION@Network card or promotion code. this is on a PAL console on an account registered in England. I wish they would bring out PSN cards here. 360 and WII cards have been about for ever!
I emailed Blockbuster Canada and here is their reply:
customer.servicecanada@blockbuster.com
“Thank you for taking the time to write. At this point in time Blockbuster does not have plans to carry PSN cards. Please check back with us sometime mid 2009.
We hope this helps, should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us. ”
omg i went to blockbuster yesterday to trade in a game to get a psn card (because gamestop doesnt have them) so i asked the guy if they had them and he says "i dont know what those are but im sure we are not getting them" o.O so i ended up trading it in a gamestop and only getting 20 dollars and no psn card. >:O
