New Animal Crossing gets name change in Australia
Australia's OFLC ratings board reveals that Animal Crossing: City Folk will be renamed for the continent, reports IGN. The new name of the game will be Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City.
Strange as folk as that may be, IGN speculates that the name change is due to a European direct translation. The site points to a similar case involving Wario Land: Shake It! being renamed Wario Land: The Shake Dimension.

(puts tongue in cheek)
Australia isn't a continent, it's a country.
Drew @ Sep 15th 2008 9:26PM
You would surprised how often I hear that at school.
Gun Barrier (Gamer Tag) @ Sep 15th 2008 9:33PM
its a continent and a country.
Trust me, I've been there.
Fideros @ Sep 15th 2008 9:49PM
Actually its the worlds only Island, Continent, Country.
Al2x @ Sep 15th 2008 10:02PM
@Fideros:
Antartica?
gir @ Sep 15th 2008 10:07PM
If its a continent then why do they play in the soccer Asian cup?
fodder @ Sep 15th 2008 10:40PM
Australia is indeed an island, continent and country. Antartica is a continent, but it's not a country.
Also, as Australia is using this title, the rest of the world will have to kow-tow, just like with Fallout. Obey us, pitiful underlings!
Superstar90 @ Sep 15th 2008 10:43PM
Actually the continent is Oceania, which includes Australia, New Zealand, and other little islands.
Tathar @ Sep 15th 2008 11:33PM
Al2x, Antarctica isn't a country. Nice try though.
Foetoid @ Sep 16th 2008 12:00AM
Superstar, you're totally wrong. Oceania is nothing, its a name someone invented for this region. I live in Australia and it's definatly an Island, Country and Continent. It's also the best place in the world to live. I've seen other parts of the world, talked to people who've moved here from the UK and US, and all they do is talk wonders about how much better it is here. Our public health system is better, our cars are nicer, fuel is cheaper than the UK, our tax system is fairer, our government is easier to understand, our welfare system is rediculously generous, there is 1/10th the crime and 1/100th of the homeless compared to the US (and probably 1/10000th of the racism), houses are cheaper (than the UK), only like 4% unemployment so thier is heaps of jobs, the weather is beautiful all year 'round (in QLD especially) and we still manage to have all the same infrastructures and technologies as the rest of the world (cops hung up their boomerangs recently ;). Its only our gaming products that are more expensive, like the Wii is $399 retail here (all our prices include tax) which is far above a straight conversion from US to Aus dollars. $99.95 for a Wii game retail too. Computer components are still dirt cheap tho. But we do earn more money so it evens out lol.

Should be subtitled "In the City..."
VaultICEE @ Sep 15th 2008 9:31PM

Animal Crossing in the City is the new hit sitcom based off the popular women's literature series starring 4 friends in New York as they discuss sex, shoes and scandals.

...hell i prefer "City Folk" over Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City it sounds queer. Seen the news in melbourne recently violence all the time in i dont want to "Go to the city" in Animal Crossing to watch a little creature get killed by a bunch of other creatures. :P

It's become really ridiculous how the Gov. in Australia is picking at every aspect of gaming. Considering we Aussie's like to abbreviate everything we say, the Gov. is throwing that back in people's face by pulling some petty crap like this.
To some of the idiots above. Learn about world geography before adding your 2 cents. Australia is the only country in the world that is also a continent.
MonaQ @ Sep 16th 2008 2:25PM
to the guy up there praising kangaroo land, im sorry "mate" this place aint so cool, i live in Melbourne and i know this for a fact, Australia is like America, but a DRUNK version.
and about the gov. i mean look at this example and GTA4 and Fallout 3, proves how "smart" the aussie people really are ;)
