First we'd like to point your attention to this lovely new screenshot of everyone's favorite insect-like hero, Spider-Man. Unfortunately for him, his spidey senses must not be tingling properly because it sure didn't help him get out of the maw of a Venom-wannabe symbiote. This is the sort of picture that good old J Jonah Jameson would pay good money for. You know who else would be paying good money? You -- well, that is if you're North American and are planning to pick up the title this October 21st.
If you're planning on pre-ordering, best do it at Best Buy. You'll be getting an art book for your troubles. Check out the art book cover and more screenshots in our gallery below.

Really bad time for this game to release. If it's good, I'll pick it up next summer.

After the HORRIBLE Spider-Man 3 game, I'm not so sure I'm going to be very forgiving to Activision this time. I was really disappointed by how badly they screwed up. All they had to do was make a halfway decent port of Spider-Man 2 in 16:9 HD, and instead they made a dumbed-down version of Spider-Man 2 with ridiculously boring/difficult boss fights, common criminals who can routinely break out of webbing and dodge blows from Spider-Man, and Simon-type button press minigames.
Look guys... The perfect superhero game (Spider-Man especially) is simple: Take the sandbox idea of GTA IV, give the character powers, make the environment somewhat destructible and make it possible to interact with everything that isn't nailed down. Finally, make the fights balanced, instead of doing the lame "boss" fights with ultra-powerful enemies that need to be hit "a certain way" in order to be beaten.
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was damned near perfect, but had some tech limits and some bad boss fights.
Jeez. Why hasn't anyone made a role-playing superhero game? You know-- Use an engine like the one used in Bioware's titles, but with superheroes?

i so agree with you, ive ever thought that, and RPG super hero game (not exactly like DC Online)
same happens with Harry Potter games, imagine being a normal wizard and then you get to study in Hopgwarts and you can go everywhere after you graduate and evolve , HP ROG would be so frikin awesome... maybe when movies finish

Does anyone actually care about this game? Even with an art book, I wouldn't touch this, even at a $10 pricepoint...

You're right, his spidey-sense wasn't tingling properly - because Venom does not register on the spider-sense.
Ahh. Good ol' 90s Fox Kids.

I want to like this, and this excites me like all the screenshots of Batman: Arkham Asylum, but after the abysmal reviews for the Spider-Man 3 game, I'm going to sit back and wait for opinions.
