I'm leaning towards a Fallout October, but I'll definitely be buying this game. Maybe in November - or maybe after DDOC.

I pre-ordered this game last month. Loved the first one in every way. So I am pretty sure that I will like this one.

And the reason why I loved Fable 1 was because I didn't read any spoilers or got hyped up by anything. I bought the game without even knowing what it was about.

Will try to avoid all spoilers for this one too.

Since Too Human and Infinite Undiscovery suck, this has become the only game I want for 360. So I just can't justify purchasing even a refurbished unit for just this.

This going to come to PC in a year or so like Fable did? Then that would be okay.

doc- u dont own a 360 so how do u know too human and infinite undiscovery suck??
u played them or listening to reviewers and hype???

i usually like shooters the most, however i enjoy both of those games a lot.
i played too human for 35 hours already.
and i played I.U. for 18 so far.
both are fresh good games to me.

doc let me ask what game or games justified your ps3 purchase if you have one???

Just because I don't own a 360 doesn't mean I don't have access to one - tons of my friends own them.

I have nothing against the 360, it just doesn't have what I want to play right now. I spent last Thursday playing Infinite Undiscovery and it should be called "infinite menu-screen management". Too Human got repetitive which I normally like (I'm a huge Diablo fan), but it just felt very flat, I dunno.

Games that have justified my PS3 purchase (keep in mind, you only need one console to play multi-plat games). For exclusives I've sunk far too many hours into RFoM, MLB 08: The Show, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, and several play throughs of Metal Gear Solid 4 - I've also recently been hammering away at Disgaea. I also have played many of the multi-platform games like CoD4, Orange Box, and am very much looking forward to Bioshock (which would have been another thing I was interested in on 360, but now that it's coming to PS3, why bother?)

I'm not completely biased in Sony's favor, I just need more impetus to drop a couple hundred on a game system, especially since I already bought one this generation. The term "marginal benefit" comes to mind. I thought IU, Too Human, and Fable 2 would be enough - but it's not. Maybe if Alan Wake is great, or if Gears 2 is better than Gears (I played the whole thing co-op with my friend, the last boss fight was great in a cinematic sense, but I got bored several times before then).

doc- thanks for giving games that justify your purchase. it makes more sense now, not just a fanboy comment.
but doc have u played and RPG before... they are all like infinite undiscovery with those complaints you have. heck in mass effect and too human i had to use the menu as much or more than in IU.

all games are repetitive, i liked too human because the AI actually got much harder on each level up and the amount of weapons, armor, character choices, skills, keeps it interesting to me.

i havent been able to get into resistance myself. heck i love the split screen gaming with my girl and have tried to love this game so much.
however when compared to cod4 and gears of war, i just cant really get into resistance. it doesnt do it for me.
mgs4 was great. the 1 game i would consider a must own ps3 game myself.
uncharted i will not pay $ 60 for 1 year after release. i am waiting until the game is $ 30 myself to play (8 hours = $ 60 not for me.. no online, no replay value.)
ratchet is ok,
mlb i dont know..
but you do know that orange box and cod4 were optimized for the 360 right?
and u realized that both games had ps3 patches right?
so cross plat games are not really created equally.

how did you get bored by gears of war, but not bored with resistance??

I never said that the Orange Box or CoD4 were better on PS3 - but I certainly don't need to drop a couple hundred dollars to get a few more utils of enjoyment out of them. Besides, Dead Space, Mirror Edge, and FFXIII are all being led on PS3 - so they'll even out eventually.

As per "getting bored" with Gears, perhaps that is a mis-statement. I probably have similar feelings to Gears as you expressed for Uncharted - although, I really loved Uncharted and I played through it at least 3 times. Gears just didn't resonate like that for me, and I don't have a desire to play it again. I'll play through Gears2 with my buddy if he gets it, but otherwise I am not that thrilled by it. I suppose we fall on different sides of the "different strokes for different folks" saying.

Resistance I liked because of the split screen co-op, and the general Insomniac-ness of the whole thing (been an Insomniac fanboy since the original Spyro on PS). Again, played through the single player campaign (well, in co-op style) four different times. I realize 360 has games with split-screen co-op, but I want something available I don't already have (like Fable 2, for instance), and I loved the first Halo, but have failed to feel the magic of Halo 2 and Halo 3.

As for Infinite Undiscovery - it's not terrible. But I wouldn't buy it if it were released for PS3, so I am certainly not buying a 360 to get it. I mean, you only play as the one guy (Capell? I forgot). The one-controlled-character-per-party mechanic was barely successful in FFXII (I liked the gambits a lot) - but it falls flat here. I also hated switching between the sword sheathed/unsheathed so I could perform context specific actions. And even for an RPG the story was weak. We played for like 10 hours between thursday/friday (man, should have been studying pharm...) and I can't really remember what the point was.

currently have:
PS3 and Wii...

But hard to justify the need for the 360 to the wife... hehe...

justify to wife... hmm..
that can be hard.
my girlfriend plays video games so im lucky on that one..
but let me think..
well if you guys buy or rent movies a lot or often.. you could always use netflix for help..
like hunny with the box we can stream new movies to our tv without going to the movie store and for a lower price.
with over 3 years of renting and buying movies you could save about $ 10 per month, which after 3 years = $ 360.00, the price of the box.
and the gas and time saved from the video store drive.

thats 1 way to tell her..
be creative there are many ways to justify the box purchase.

Matt - that is great... I did not even think about the netflix angle!
Are the movies in HD or at least up scalled??? Sorry but I really do not know much about all the 360 and "extras"

Plus it would be a good way to stream to another TV from our media center computer... I did think of that one.. hehe

My wife plays quite a bit of casual games... she now takes my Iphone over at night and plays card games on it.. I bet some of the downloadable stuff on the 360 she would like... not much for her on the PSN right now...

thanks guys!!!

r man- that might be hard to convert your wife a casual gamer over to the box... must be a slow process.. trixie360, a girl who works for ms actually has some pointers for getting their girlfriend/wife to play on the box..
netflix real info is on xbox website.
a lot of rumors out there until it releases supposedly later this month.

the upscalling/hd question is what may lead me to get this too.
i have blockbuster online right now and i can exchange movies in store and my blockbuster has blu ray movies for my ps3, so that is a hard movie deal to beat for myself.

your streaming option is good too.
media servers or storage centers cost a lot of money on their own.

the new dashboard is looking to be offering some things for casual gamers such as game shows and card games..
might want to look that up too.

peteb - can't sell the Wii... my kids like it too much! Plus my wife uses the wii fit...

Matt - it is all the new stuff on the dashboard and the new family night games shown at E3 that really makes me think my wife might like the 360. In no way do I expect her to pick up and start gaming with me... hehe... I am mostly in to racing games any way...
But LBP on my PS3 might be a game that gets her started in to more...

I could really see her playing Fable with me also... or at least sitting with me and helping me make decisions on what to do and all...

Good to see you've got the hype machine back to its best Joystiq. Was getting abit dusty sitting in the corner.

O how it missed the golden days of GTA4.

I hate the 360 with utter disgust...Its aesthetics have made me uncomfortable since the day I bought it...And yes I do love my ps3 above all else...but...

Fable 2...Thinking about the days of Fable 1 and all that could have been better...I am expecting this game to come in the GOTY nominations, I will be sure to buy it when it comes out if I have the money.

By the way...Do I need to spend any more money to play online if I want to go online with Fable 2? Or with my old gold account, can it be switched to be played for free with limited capabilities with Xbox live. Isn't it called a silver account or something?

To play Xbox 360 games online, you need a gold account. Although I'm not entirely sure as to what you're asking because you're question doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I have a 360 but I do not want to pay anymore money for online service...Cant I get online for free? I thought Xbox live had some service where you can play online for no pay but have less services than if you did.

Afraid not. Silver members can access online content like demo's, trailers, etc, but no online play. If you look around websites though, specifically, eBay, you can often find 12 month membership cards for very cheap.

Then I might have to hold off on Fable 2 then. I can not afford paying 50 dollars for the 360s service if I need to pay for Fable 2, Fallout LE and another 50....

190$ is to much....Its a downside of having a 360 when my money is with a 150 limit.
