Wow incredible pricing, they are going to sell a tonne of these this
Christmas,

You can buy an Arcade and a Premium 360 for the price of a PS3!!

The arcade is only £30 more than a PS2 by the time you add a MU card to the PS2 (the Arcade already includes one)

Very aggressive and impressive pricing!

What PS2 is this? All the shops I've seen PS2 in have it at £70 for slim and £40/50 for phat PS2.

A ps2 slim on Amazon with a 8mb memory card comes to £98

The 360 arcade unit includes a 256mb memory card for £129 (as well as arcade games and a wireless controller)

Are these new Xbox 360 models built with the new 'Jasper' chipset: 65nm throughout?

I don't think these have the jasper chip set. I was under the assumption that the price cut was to sell units with the old chip sets, before the 65nm roll out.

They certainly are playing hardball in the price wars. Hell, the Arcade is cheaper than the Wii everywhere now, I think...

But you what would be great? If they also started dropping the prices for accessories. I'm looking at YOU, $100 wireless adapter. You're overpriced, and you know it!

There's an extra discount in The Netherlands and Belgium. Till the end of this year the buyer of a new 360 can send in a coupon to Microsoft to get 30 euros back. This puts the Elite version at the same price as the Wii (€250).

Sounds like M$ is bringing their xbox 3 out next xmas to compete with the PS3. At least we can drop this '360' crap.

I don't know why I'm bothering to answer when you are clearly a troll but why would MS take further losses on hardware if it wasn't an attempt to gain market share with the hope of future returns?

I marked you down , just for using the "M$".

The rest of your post is filled with so much fanboy crap, it's not even worth mentioning. Even if Microsoft released a new console next year, you do realise it would force Sony to release a new Playstation to compete. Even if MS's new console wasn't much more powerful, the Playstation 3 would still be the "oudated" machine, in a lot of peoples eys.

In the UK Sony has more of a grip on the market because most people don't do their research on the two consoles and the Playstation brand name has been floating around as the most popular console for a while.

So while kids here may ask for a Playstation for christmas, when their parents see that £130 xbox on the shelf they may alter their plans.

I hope this post was informative and unbiased, since as a PC gamer I hate both consoles in equal measure.

In order for it to "compete with PS3", the PS3 would have to be ahead of 360 in first place.

I am sick and tired of you sony trolls. So you mean Microsoft would have to come out with a next next gen machine to have graphics as good as the Ps3? I am sure thats what you meant.

If they were selling well, they wouldn't continue to lower the prices. So I expect that this won't be having a large impact.

Or maybe they are trying to make it very difficult for their competitors?

The 360 has been out 3 years now and has only had £100 knocked of its price, meanwhile the PS3 by comparison started out at £430 and was £299 within 18 months!!

That's insanely low.

I may have to pick up an Arcade, so that I'll have my own 360, rather than have to use my brother's.

Hopefully this means they will cut the price of the hard drives too, my old 13gig....sorry I mean 20gig just can’t cut it with the amount of downloading I do.

May as well flog your old premium and buy a new 60gig one or an elite

That way you get a shiny new console and a bigger hard drive..

WOW! Look at this, man if MS does not win this holiday season I don't know what they can do. Great lineup with games, great push to gain more jrpgs for the rpg folks and to make sure 360 is not only action/fps/sports console any more. Aggressive pricing so that the 60 gig pro, at least where I live is close to the Wii and the Arcade is way below the Wii in price.

I know 3 games at least that I will get, GOW2, Fable 2, Lips (if that all mp3 songs = ingame feature is working as promised).

So this holideay should be really interesting, now I wonder what NIntendo and Sony does to answer? Did not Sony claimed that 2008 was the PS3 year!?

It's a shame 360 doesn't support other than Microsoft's hard drives. I'd be tempted to buy arcade, use the 60GB hard drive of my ps3 and then upgrade my ps3 to +200GB.

Bastards! The more they drop the price is the more it annoys me I bought my 360 so early ¬_¬, see I would have paid half the price and still have that extra cash to spend on other shit. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

I have learnt my lesson, next time I will wait a few years, theres no rush.

If you think like that you'd never buy anything,

I bought my 360 day one so its cost me £33 a year because I did not wait...

I can live with that!

Well if you think about it, I would in fact have more to buy ^^ I could have spent a fraction of the price on my PS3 and 360 and had enough to get myself a more powerful laptop, or use that extra cash to fund getting a new car, or go on holiday. Theres lots I could have used it for, unfortunatly, it went into two games consoles, not that I mind, because they bring me joy either way. But... to think I would have had all that extra cash to play with :(

@GamerG: I wonder if the procedure wasn't used to make the cheapo hard drive for eBay...

If procedure works 100%, then you can try to order from China/whatever the Xbox HDD shells, buy bulk 2.5" HDDs, put on the HDDs image from the official new Xbox HDD, put the HDDs into shells and sells them on eBay.

Somehow putting approved by MSFT HDD image on the 2.5" makes its worth double/triple...

Since I do not have Xbox at all, can't tell you myself.

Check that out - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360#Retail_configurations & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360#Comparison_of_features - and decide whether Elite worth it.

I understand you meant well, but I honestly think you should check this out - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhetorical_question

I do think the elite is an 'idiot version' Microsoft put out to recoup some cash for those who seriously overvalue a black paint job and 60GB extra.

I'm just thinking that Microsoft might be getting ready for their next console so they can be first out in the next generation again?

I think if you buy a PS3 over a 360 this christmas and your not using the blu-ray functionality...your kinda dumb or you really like little big planet.
