Besides working on "Super Secret Project That We're Dying to Find Out About X," Ken Levine also has an involvement of some sort with the follow-up to his hit BioShock, as well as the upcoming film based on the license. Heart-breakingly, he recently told OXM his work with BioShock 2 isn't really "material," that he's only "informally engaged in certain scenes."
His involvement with the film is even harder to pin down. Levine said, "My job there is to be a friend to [director] Gore [Verbinski] and [writer] John [Logan], be a resource for them and kick ideas around with them. At the end of the day John's the writer and Gore's the director. I'm not the traffic cop."
...Umm, if KennyL is hiring himself out as a friend, shouldn't we have been his first choice? Or at least been allowed to make an offer? We think he would have found our salary of numerous hugs and adoring stares very competitive.

Do we need a sequel to Bioshock? There isn't much left that you can "wrap around" an actual game.A book definitely...a movie, maybe. But not a proper FPS game.
And don't tell me about prequel possibilities since considering how the SHIT REALLY HIT THE FAN around the era you crashed there in BS1, you wouldn't get to see much fighting unless the devs decided to crash all the already established canon.

When you think about it, the first movie/game/book in most trilogies have endings that appear to have everything "wrapped up", and then the writers think of somewhere to go with it that you or I would have never thought up, and at that point it all makes sense.
The biggest problems Bioshock has as far as sequels go is multiple endings, and that one of the endings jumps so far into the future (I'd imagine this would just be ignored).
However, I'm guessing a prequel type thing as well. Where did it say that the shti was hitting the fan right as your bathysphere landed? I always got the impression that the shit had already hit the fan and you were there in the aftermath. I mean, it's not like you watched any big battles and by the time you got there pretty much everyone except 3 people was already a splicer.

Just to clarify, what I mean is that Bioshock wrapped up the story with the gameplay. You fought Splicers while trying to find out about Rapture. With the prequel, unless you jump around with your DoLorean, you have to either choose between the story ie: the rise of Rapture,Big Daddies etc. at the expense of very little fighting...or jump straight into the action ie: New Year's Eve or Civil War that on the other hand sacrifices the story...

Great! NOW where are they going to get a figurehead to take all the credit for the work of an entire development team?

I think rebooting X-Com is a more worthy pursuit then mining out Bioshock. Working a sequel into the Bioshock universe would be hacky.

I agree, I really hope the rumors are true and that's what he's working on.

Call the man "KennyL" again, and I am apt to harm someone.
