Rumor: LittleBigPlanet lands in North America Oct. 21, Europe Oct. 24

A few hours ago, a press release was issued by an outside PR agency in the UK on behalf of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, stating that LittleBigPlanet's European release date is October 24. Naturally, we were a little confused, as we'd previously been told by SCEE directly that the release date was October 29. When we followed up with this agency, we were informed that the Oct. 24 date was definitely for Europe, and that the game would be released October 21 in North America.

Although Oct. 21 is the date that's been batted around in North America for a while, we still haven't received any official confirmation and, after contacting SCEA, were informed by a rep: "We have not yet announced an official North American release date." This is official: LittleBigPlanet's release date is giving us a VeryLargeHeadache.

I highly doubt there's anyone on this website who doesn't know it's a sony exclusive.

That being said I put it in the same category as Uncharted and Heavenly Sword...mediocre/average titles that are being hyped and in some cases WAY OVER THE TOP hyped because the ps3 just doesn't have that many killer games on it as a whole.

As far as sales go it'll sell pretty good probably considering it's the first major title since MGS4 but how good is the question.

If it sells to the causal audience that sony is secretly trying to court then extremely well.

My guess is that diehard sony fanboys will buy it and maybe a few curious individuals. But after that sales will drop.

umm...got something interesting to say or are you just gonna insult me? The fact that all you ever do is hang out in Sony News because of the amount of support you get from other fanboys isn't an excuse to fling shit at people who dare not to agree with you.

Sony or at least their fanboys have a tendency to overhype games - Lair,Haze,Killzone,Heavenly Sword as well as MGS4 and Uncharted(these on turned out to be good though) are just some examples and going by this pattern it looks like LBP will be next.

Care to counter this or will you talk about my mother's sex life since we all know that thanks to that(points with his finger) fanboy horde behind you anything you say will get you an instant three hearts regardless of what you write?

Both consoles have overhyped exclusives, move along.

If you don't like the game, ignore it, if you don't like fanboys, ignore them, do you think the self proclaimed Sony fanboys will care whether you like them or not or think they are hyping. Should people call you a fanboy if you are looking forward to something and are pretty sure it will do well? Jakka has openly stated before that he loves Halo 3, so no one should really even pay attention when he says he likes or hates a game.

I only commented in first place to tell Azure and Naem that nothing good will happen out of this, but then El-I-am-so-cool-I-can-shit-on-others-just-because-I'm-on-my-own-turf-Serpiente decided to flame us for no reason.

I don't mind loosing in an argument because imo there's nothing more fun than arguing in a situation when each side has it's own great points(vide PS3+Cell+Compression+Installation discussion) but really I loathe people who simply attack somebody instead of arguing.

I wouldn't have minded if you didn't think the game had potential, then again that's the whole point of opinions, who am I to say it will do well, I haven't even played it yet. However, (not refering to you here now) what I don't like is when people WANT a game to fail, that's a childish attitude. Okay, you may not believe in something, much like I look at new FPS games and think, 'hmm, how is this any different to Half Life or Halo', but sometimes I am proved wrong and sometimes proved right, I have never wanted a game to fail just to shut fanboys up, that's silly.

In short Joystiq reported about October being the month when this game would be released. I think a few months ago they mentioned Oct 15 specifically as the date it would come out in the US.

Now we have this article that refers to some random PR statement that may or may not be true...what's the point then?

At this point I think everyone is fairly certain of 2 things:

1) sony owns this game
2) sony is releasing it in October

This is evidenced by all the Joystiq articles, the previews, the hands ons, and the massive marketing campaign that sony is pushing out.

Anyways I think the game will be mediocre. However I'm sure all the sony hype and marketing will result in lots of undeserved "Perfect 10's" like GTAIV.

Now that I know who you are (seriously for someone who "doesn't care" you sure change your name a lot when people start attacking you) your comment was pretty predictable. I'll reiterate my previous statement.

If you don't think it's newsworthy why are reading and posting in the article? It has nothing to do with any system, it has to do with douchebags who aren't contributing to the article at all. Even trolls contribute more than the "FIRST" and "this isn't news" guys because at least they're talking about whatever the article's on. Don't like it? Too bad, move on.

Also, being on this site for a year without my head stuck up my ass like yourself, I've seen my fair share of Sony bashing from the Joystiq writers. Ever since that piss poor E3 they've finally woken up to Nintendo's bullshit though.

Mediocre or not, this game in my opinion already looks more colourful and original then 70% of games released this generation.

FFS!!! I was hoping that unlike Lionhead, Media Molecule wouldn't screw Europe over with the release date. I live 15 minutes from their Guildford studio, so its pretty frustrating that I have to wait 3 more days for them to ship it half way around the world before I can get my copy. They better have a launch party in Guildford!!!!

You call 3 days 'screwing europe over with a release date'? Wow, get a grip. Games in the US often come out on tuesdays and games almost always come out on Fridays over here. Order it online and you'll prob get it on the 23rd anyway.

It's not shipped half way around the world anyway. Sony typicaly use regional disk fabrication so more likely than not a European copy is going to have been made in Austria

Yeah, i feel silly for thinking that nothing could top last fall / winter; bioshock, the orange box, halo 3, call of duty 4, mass effect, and uncharted.

Got to love fanboys Azureknight has never played the game, and probably knows next to nothing about it and labels it average just like Uncharted (which happens to be a damn great game) another game that he hasn't played and knows nothing about and then speculates about sales. What a moron.
