But forget all of that. The point is that it's possible to five star and gold "So Whatcha Want" by the Beastie Boys -- on expert -- by reading the Declaration of Independence. Joystiq put together a video to prove this and the results are staggering and, frankly, strangly beautiful. The video takes on the aspect of performance art and gives us pause to consider the broader meaning of our existence. Either that or we've been staring at a computer monitor for just a bit too long. Either way, it's something that must be seen and, more importantly, iterated over and over again. We'd love to see someone five star "So Watcha Want" with, oh, let's say an episode of the A-Team. Get to it, internets.

If you are 'singing' a Beastie Boys song, then you're doing it wrong. They are a rap band, so, singing quite escapes their rap songs.

Wow that's a great way to get past the worst song in the game. Well mute works too

Also, if you play that along with The Wizard of Oz, it syncs up.

wait....wait....who figured this out for the first time? Was someone running around reading the declaration of independence at random things?
"Hey a cat! Lets read it the declaration! nope nothing there. Now lets try reading it to that tree...Nope...nothing there...Hey lets read it into every song on rock band!"

It's like some sort of Kings Quest or Secret of Monkey Island game where you have to figure out why the wrench works to get the cat out of the tree and then in turn use a tennis ball to save the queen by putting into a pot of boiling water, causing the tennis ball to reconsitute into a crown.
Or something.

in case you havnt heard the song, its a rap, meaning there isnt a tune... and games cant distinguish wordddss since there are like a billions different accents it would have to take into account. anyway i found that you can gold star a song even with like 2, 3, someimtes even 5 mistakes throughout a song. ie 99%. has anyone else come across this? its kind of weird seeing how RB1 and all the guitar heros require a full 100%

That's not true at all. I've gold starred songs in RB1 with 97%. Gold starring a song in RB is unrelated to gold starring a song in GH. GH requires 100% of notes hit, RB goes on score alone. Using overdrive, its possible to have a big enough score and not hit 100% of the notes.

Gold Star in RB requires 1.72x the score for 5*. There's a big table on the big RB forums about the gold star, and how some tracks you cant get Gold Star on because the max score is just below this 1.72x threshold :S

Damn! I'm Canadian and don't know the Declaration of Independence! I guess I'll just have to beat this the old fashioned way...

It's easier to just hold the mic up to the speaker on your TV. Instant FC every time.

Ok, you made your point.
But the least you could've done is _rap_ the Declaration.

A) That's great!
B) The Declaration of Independence should have had clap breaks (but I'm glad people are still reading it!)
C) RB doesn't recognize any type of pronunciation so I tell friends when they sing just hum the parts you don't know - as long as you're on key and with decent timing, you'll do good, regardless of what you say (or don't) You could probably get 5 stars with a whistle on this song since pitch is not rated.

i have visual proof that 100% on rock band does NOT mean gold stars and that 96-99% can be gold on the same song its all based on score overall and feel it has a great deal to do with note streak and the whole multiply by so much is crap cause every song seems to have a different percentage of how much over you need for gold not a certain 1.52 or 1.76 or some other BS!
