Crysis and Crysis Warhead are now both available on Valve's Steam digital distribution service for $40 and $30, respectively. Warhead will be available tomorrow outside North America.
Of course, Crysis is now the stuff of PC legend for being "that game," which will take your two-year-old PC and teach it the meaning of pain. Crysis Warhead is its "less demanding" little brother who just wants to play. Remember, you can always try the Crysis Demo to see how your PC will cope.

At least "medium" on a 1.5 year old PC for Crysis is good, right?

You could say that but IMO, it looks good even on low as long as you got a decent resolution.

The Crysis demo is a little bit misleading for performance, because three patches have been released since the original's release (and the demo) to improve performance. They're not amazing, but they cut down resources used by about 20% and are free and easy.
Besides, I do have a two year old graphics card which runs the game fine on medium-high.

I can give you a couple:
-One of the best recent shooters, critically acclaimed when it came out and incomprehensibly panned in comments everywhere a year later.
-The joys of grabbing some RPG's, finding a high vantage point to the enemy base, and delight in watching panicked soldiers try to escape from the rubble of the buildings that are collapsing on them. The adrenaline in trying to evade the helicopter they might then send to find you. The thrill of crashing your jeep against an enemy jeep, admiring the amazing explosion, and picking on the survivors with your bare hands. Sure, you could play it like a linear, boring shooter if you wanted, but you'd be missing the point. There are awesome moments to be had, but you have to make them happen.
-This might be the last game ever to wow you through the brutal power of pretty graphics. Remember when you were impressed by square's or blizzard's cutscenes? This is just like that, but you get to make the awesome happen interactively!
-Amazingly immersive atmosphere thanks to great graphics and sound design. Except in the bits when the laughable characters are trying to advance the uninspired storyline. Fortunately they mostly keep their mouths shut.
-It will run better on your computer than you probably expect.

What I meant was, I can't find a reason to buy this since I already have Crysis and a computer to run it

how about the fact that it's a sequel, and not a remake (as you may or may not be thinking)?
This is the followup game to Crysis. Continuation of storyline. Etc.

Steam used to be bad... I don't see much of a problem with it now though. Have you used it within the last couple of years?

I've had some kinks happen with steam. Not performance-wise, but the way you buy games.
I bought COD4, let it download for 8 hours, came back to play it with joy. I double click, it says "NOW LAUNCHING GAME" and I notice under the msgbox, it says Now downloading updates "0%". So I goto work come back, and see it took about 7 hours. So I goto play it again, kinda irritated from but just ready to relax and game. So I double click and see "NOW LAUNCHING GAME" finding out I have to update it AGAIN. So instead of updating, I just think to myself, "Hey, I'll just play without updates", well YOU CAN'T. There's no way to run it without the latest version. So I try disconnecting my net to run it and of course the great "NOW LAUNCHING." With it trying to update via internet which wasn't there.
The next morning I did have some fun on COD4 though.

Wow, you had the EXACT opposite reaction I did. I was really stoked when I read this headline. It is the perfect marriage in my opinion. I love how steam operates, and I love the Crysis games.
Why shouldn't more good games be on Steam? I think it is the best shot any developer/publisher has to combat piracy. Instead of, ya know, offering a one time install and then an auto-destruct sequence.

That's a custom PC built for Crysis Warhead...and when it comes to graphic engines, two years is a huge gap.Just check out some comparison screenshots.

Well i know for a fact the only thing you need to run Crysis maxed out is an ATI 4870X2 graphics card with the 2gb GDDR5RAM. My brother-in-law has that card, along with 4gb of 800mhz RAM, a decent (not expensive) crossfire gigabyte motherboard and the E8600 Intel CPU. Since the graphics card was just a little more than the price of a Ps3, and everything else in the computer is very very cheap if you know where to shop, the whole PC should only cost about $1500 at the most...with Windows. Thats not a Crysis ready PC, thats Crysis, and every other game ever made (including FarCry2) running MAXED OUT and smoothly.

The demo is also not a good indicator of performance for Crysis Warhead because Warhead has been optimized to run much better than Crysis did. And it does.

Anyone played Warhead yet? How was it? How'd it run?
I played Crysis, and while my computer could handle it, I wasn't really a huge fan of the game itself. Is Warhead much different?

The thing that bothered me about crysis the most was the downright terrible AI. I liked almost everything else about the game, the nanosuit, the huge, open levels, and ridiculously good physics. But I never finished the campaign because the AI was ridiculous. Why is it that a helicopter will wander away when I cloak, but when I uncloak well out of it's vision it's suddenly on my ass again? How can that guy see me from a few miles away while he's looking in the opposite direction?
I'll probably pick up warhead anyways, if for anything because the multiplayer looks even more fun than Crysis' was.

I am so excited for Warhead.
Crysis is still my favorite singleplayer shooter in existance. Easily superior to COD4 and Bioshock, although I absolutely love bot of those games. It's sad that so many people wrote it off because of graphics/performance or because it was a bit more cerebral and less run-and-gun (something fixed in Warhead).
Probably gonna buy it off of Steam. Now that I'm at college, the convenience of having access to your game off of either your desktop or laptop, and all future desktops and laptops, without the need for a long list of CD keys and tons of CDs is well worth not having a pretty box to collect dust back at home.

Nice, a game that hasn't been hobbled so it can be squeezed into 512MB of memory.

Funny, as just this week i finally got around to installing Crysis on my system, it quite literally took it down.
Within minutes all the graphics had corrupted, my card gave a temperature warning as it had skyrocketed up to 80c, and the comp shut down.
Great.
