Infinite Undiscovery, price cut help Xbox 360 outsell Wii in Japan

It wasn't so frightening when the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 for a week back when Tales of Vesperia came out, but now that it's sold more than the Wii during the week ending Sept. 14 ... well, now we're stricken with panic. According to Enterbrain, the Xbox 360 sold 28,861 units during the week, while the Wii sold 27,057 (the PS3 managed 8,050).

Xbox 360 sales were more than likely spurred by the one-two punch of a Japanese price cut and the release of console-exclusive Infinite Undiscovery, which sold 86,708 units in its first week. MCV points out that the 360 has now sold 717,275 units in Japan -- the very foundations of our world would be shaken if it actually went on to sell a million units.

The price cut alone probably didn't make alot of difference. Tales however did. The last few weeks the xbox 360 was sold out but now a new shipment arrived according to MS. We'll see if next week the xbox 360 will still be on top of the charts. I bet you ten bucks it won't.

The price cut did very little, if nothing. The software did, however. Content is king, hardware is replaceable scrap and unimportant in the eyes of the average consumer.

That is absolute BS, you can't tell me that if the 360 was the same price now as it was at launch that they would have sold as many as they did last week.

I just don't get it, WHY do you want Sony to fail? Do you NOT realize that competition is a GOOD thing for the gamers? Competition breeds innovation, originality, quality, affordability. Without competition, look what MS has done in the past. Competition with Sony keeps MS AND Sony trying harder and harder to woo undecided gamers.

I don't like MS, but I DON'T want them to fail. With the 360 doing well it has forced Sony into doing more for us. Now that the PS3 is doing well too, MS is NOW forced to do more for us.

As for the Plumber? As many of you know I do NOT consider the WSM competition, I never have and never will so I DO want the WSM fad to die so that Nintendo can get serious again and give us REAL NEW hardware and not some repackaged bullchit with a gimmick that STILL does not do what it says it does.

What is really ironic is the Wiimotion plus attachment, the Sixaxis controller already HAS what the WM+ claims to do. The DS3 CAN detect very subtle movements in SIX different axis. The WSM controller cannot.

If your going to continue to be a jackass...at least interject some NEW material once in a while and sprinkle in some humor.

infinite undiscovery is a japan made RPG game for the 360, of course it will help japan 360 sales.

but wow ps3 sold 72% fewer consoles according to the figures.
and we know the 360 is PROBABLY killing the ps3 in America on sales figures.

console gap lead is opening further and not closing now.
maybe sony is banking on LBP and resistance 2 to help sales of the console itself.

proponal- umm the price cut has helped with consoles sales and has hurt ps3 sales slightly.

If microsoft comes out with a new JRPG every week (52 JRPGS a year), they would win in Japan. Hey 52 jrpgs a year aint that far-fetched. We already know japanese gamers like to buy crappy games like technu z or whatever its called and gundamn. So im sure 52 games wouldnt be totaly out of the question. They dont need to be good.

I do believe the Wii sold around the same amount it sold last year around this week period:

Sales for week ending in September 15, 2007:

Wii - 28,231
Xbox 360 - 1,516

So based on those stats, I think it's safe to say that the 360 did GREAT this past week!
