SEQUEL FEVER! Peggle Nights available now
Which is terrible news, by the way. We've been trying to write this post since the weekend, but have been unable to escape Peggle Nights' "just one more go" vortex. Its predecessor, Peggle, was the game that massacred productivity on a global scale last year, even managing to controversially trounce Mass Effect in our Game of the Year awards.
The $20 sequel, which is now available at PopCap's site (it'll hit other game portals next month), boasts "60 all-new Adventure Mode levels and 60 new Challenge Mode hurdles, along with a new "Peggle Master" power-up, new kinds of style shots, achievements, and other special bonuses." And yes, we just copied and pasted that from the press release so we could go back to playing it.

Still not a game!
KVN @ Sep 17th 2008 6:32PM
Then what is it?
Jeff @ Sep 17th 2008 6:37PM
Digital cocaine.
Roto13 @ Sep 17th 2008 7:03PM
Well, there are levels, objectives, scores, what else could it be?
Titanium_Orchid @ Sep 17th 2008 11:26PM
Levels, objectives and scores? Sounds like golf.
Peggle is golf: confirmed.
Burnt Meatloaf @ Sep 18th 2008 6:37AM
@Roto13: More interaction?
harma41 @ Sep 17th 2008 6:05PM
When is this ever going to come out on XBLA?
nidx @ Sep 17th 2008 6:06PM
I wish this game was on Steam NOW. (in 15 years of PC gaming I have lost or misplaced almost all my discs and love the way steam will almost always just work, epically for older games. I will not buy a non-steam PC game anymore) I guess I'll have to just play the old peggle/peggle extreme and rock band until then.
dirt dobber @ Sep 17th 2008 6:38PM
ditto
Haggard (Free Mr.ESC!) @ Sep 17th 2008 6:29PM
I bought the original on Steam, but Rock Band DLC and a new bass pedal and Crysis Warhead don't buy themselves.
Einhanderkiller @ Sep 17th 2008 6:30PM
GAME OF THE YEAR.
geders @ Sep 17th 2008 6:34PM
I hope they release the Mac version before my wife hears a sequel has been released...
Pharmacy @ Sep 17th 2008 6:37PM
I have a feeling you guys just made my GPA go down by a whole point. Thanks Joystiq!
Roto13 @ Sep 17th 2008 7:04PM
I'm downloading it now and my heart is beating really fast. Is this normal?
Lars @ Sep 17th 2008 7:33PM
Yep, so is holding your breath when shooting the ball until it leaves the screen.
I think I might wait and buy the Steam version. Man, how cool would it be to get this on PSN? They should totally do that!
Gavin @ Sep 17th 2008 7:22PM
Drop things at random angles until you get a cookie.
This gets old REAL quick like...
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 17th 2008 7:27PM
Any news about the DS version? It was announced months ago.
Tiptup300 @ Sep 17th 2008 7:31PM
Who cares about the DS. Xbox 360 is where the real gaming happens.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Sep 17th 2008 7:39PM
"who cares about the DS"
Seriously? Come on now, let's not be silly. It's gotta be the most-owned console on this site.
Ayrkain @ Sep 17th 2008 7:42PM
I think Q Entertainment was making it, and they set the date as "Winter."
Vidikron @ Sep 17th 2008 8:53PM
I'd like to see this game on the DS AND XBLA/PSN. Who wouldn't want a portable version and one you can play from your couch on the big screen?
Tiptup300 @ Sep 17th 2008 9:00PM
Admittedly, I do own one. But I sorta bought it on accident.
ipsum @ Sep 18th 2008 1:12PM
By accident?
"Man, I can't wait to play with my PSP in the box labeled 'Nintendo DS'. This is gonna be great!"
Was that how it happened? =P.
Tiptup300 @ Sep 18th 2008 4:37PM
No, I just got paid, and while waiting in the mall for a ride. I had the urge to play guitar hero. I haven't touched thing since.
pathfinda @ Sep 17th 2008 9:41PM
MORE PEGGLE!!!!
ipsum @ Sep 17th 2008 8:37PM
I played the demo, and I haven't seen any difference whatsoever, other than more levels. I loved Peggle Deluxe, but I was hoping for something a little different...
Wubbytoes @ Sep 17th 2008 9:12PM
Awesome. Peggle is one of my favorite casual games.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Sep 18th 2008 12:12AM
i hope they put this on a console i have cause im not a fan of PC games really. i mean i have ALL the consoles and handhelds (except 360) and even a Zune, so hopefully one of them will get this and i can finally see what all the fuss is about.
Wubbytoes @ Sep 18th 2008 10:17AM
You can always play the first game for free on MSN games.
