The UK's Advertising Standards Authority has banned a pair of Condemned 2: Bloodshot commercials, just a little over five months after the game's release. Unlike the whopping 26 complaints that got a Kane & Lynch ad banned, the Condemned 2 spot was washed away in the deluge of ... nine complaints.
Despite the pair of violent commercials being cleared for post-9PM showing, the ASA determined that "viewers were likely to find those scenes offensive and distressing and to see them as condoning real violence and cruelty." Check out what we believe to be one of the offensive ads, after the break.
I hate the ASA, and I hate the stupid old bats who sit up watching TV for stuff to complain about. This ad will have been put on during a program which the games target audience will be watching 8 out of 10 Cats, there is a lot more to be offended about than a little bit of blood and violence.
I think I know why they complained. I actually own this game and what it shows are some of the more disturbing scenes. But when something comes on tv that I don't want to watch, I exorcise my freedom to change the channel. Which is what these people should have done, unless that is, they were complaining because they use their tv as a babysitter for their children and they aren't around to change the channel. Which is probably the case. So what you have are just a few bad parents bitching because they can't just set their kids in front of the tv and forget about them with a clear conscience, so they have to do something to make themselves feel like they are good parents. Any kid that isn't old enough to handle that video, shouldn't be up at 9pm anyway.
If The Man liked Star Trek, TNG would have rightfully won many Emmy awards when it had to fight with unworthy contenders like Columbo, Gabriel's Fire, and Road to Avonlea (winners of outstanding lead actor in a drama, 1990-1992).
