Alright, I'll give it a go. The basic mechanics of the game seem very fun. The shooting mechanic is basically like Mass Effects, but without the ability to pause (it's got the same third person, over the shoulder camera). The graphics are pretty nice, and they have Unreal Engine 3 written all over them (Is this game UT3 engine? I'm lazy, so I shan't google). The faces on the characters are a bit lifeless, but otherwise they are fine.
The only problem I have with this demo (or really this game I guess) is that the hills or craters you create, are easily removed by the enemy. All the enemy has to do, is shoot the hills, and they come tumbling down. Why are bullets able to take down a massive earthen mound? It doesn't make any sense. It's kind of like the "Force Shields" in The Force Unleashed; Just there to be a joy kill. The mechanic for making the hills is easy enough (just hit the right button for hills, and left for craters) and the energy regen on them is fine. It is a bit tough to create cover on the move though, as I quickly found out during the demo. In the demo, you'll come upon a room with a turret, that you have to get past by making hills as cover. Unfortunately the turret is quickly destroying the hills as you make them, and it can swivel 360 degrees, so you aren't safe even when you get to it's side. It's not hard to imagine that it might be a little bit annoying throughout the game.
All things considered, I had a blast playing the demo, especially the first part (with no enemies and a ton of fun weapons to test out). This game is now on my "Might buy" list, with the "might" part only being attributed to the fact that there are 10 games I want this holiday season (which is...600 dollars) when my budget for spending on myself is nowhere near that high (especially considering I just spent 600 on myself to build a new gaming rig..)
I'd suggest that everyone give this demo a shot, it really is quite a bit of fun.

Uh, not all guns actually knock the hills down, just the one turret early on in the combat...
This demo = awesome. The terrain system is more than a gimmick, it's used in a portal-like way to traverse you through the level, as an offensive and defensive weapon, and you can do it over and over...the terrain gun doesn't "run out". If they can make the puzzles to go through the levels more complex and thought-provoking (and I think they will be), this will be a title to buy. Hell, I'll buy it anyway for multiplayer!
Multiplayer on this is going to kick major ass.

Hills do go down when shot by regular guns. The turret just greatly speeds up the process.

Babanaboat, pretty good assessment. I am kinda leaning toward this as a "rent".
I predict I may tire of the constant need for hill building, and the nagging feeling that I should always be looking to the sky and spinning around to see if there is anything to "build" to.

I really liked it. There's no multiplayer, but it's a lot of fun. it's cool to see innovation that works. if you think this game is boring - you're playing it boring. try messing with the landscape of a battlefield. and the graphics don't look as bad as i thought they would based on the screenshots
ps - if you think the gun combat sucks, try clicking in on the right stick (with most guns) and it will make it a lot better

Did anyone see the new GTA IV Theme and Gamer Pics on Tuesday late night on XBL? I saw it but couldn't download it cause my Gold had just expired but now it is nowhere to be found plus I can't find any mention of it anywhere online. It was titled under GTA IV - Chaos Weekend? Anyone know anything about this?

Yes it was part of a contest. It wasnt anything special though. The pic and theme they gave you had nothing to do with GTA IV. It was just the Rockstar logo in different colors with a black background, same with the only gamerpic they gave out.

Well thanks for letting me know. I still kinda want it plus in on the contest cause I'm kind of a whore for free stuff on XBL.

Played the demo and I know it'll be tough for some Star Wars fanboys to swallow, but this game is A LOT MORE FUN than Force Unleashed. Aside from not having much in the way of random destructible environmental stuff, this one tops TFU in almost every other way (don't know if the story is comparable in terms of awesomeness, but there was more decent voice acting than I was expecting). I'll go ahead and say this is a much better game with much stronger replay value.
I was expecting to be completely disappointed by it, but the gameplay is actually pretty fun. Deforming the terrain has practical, tactical uses. Aside from the obvious uses as cover and to get past obstacles, I was able to drop enemies near crates into sinkholes and then run up and pick them off while they were stuck. Being able to slow the enemies down helped near the end of the demo when you are swarmed while waiting for your dropship. There are a good variety of weapons scattered throughout the demo, too. You can carry 2 rifles and switch between (no restriction on what type of weapons you can have equipped in either slot, so if you want a 2 machine guns or a grenade launcher and a sniper rifle, or 2 different kinds of rocket launchers, go for it). Looks like you can carry up to 4 different types of grenades, though I only found 2 different kinds in the demo.
The art direction feels similar to Unreal Tournament 3 and the gameplay almost feels like a mixture of Lost Planet and Gears (yeah, that's not really accurate, but that was my first impression). Overall, I'm pretty surprised at how fun it was and am definitely considering picking this up when it comes out.

Agreed, I was also pleasantly surprised. To my Gamefly Q it is! I thought it was a mix of so many games as well, Halo, Gears, UT, and LP. Good stuff...

no multiplayer, but i was surprised by this game. you can literally reshape the battle, so it's as fun or interesting as you want it to be. if you this this game is boring, that means you're playing it boring. the graphics are up to par. It's cool to see innovation that works.

I LOVE THIS GAME! the ideas expressed in that demo are so awesome. Creating and destroying mounds has never been so fun! and the enemies look pretty cool. I honestly think that this game is better then TFU.

Demo wasn't bad, but I was expecting everything to be deformable for some reason, only to be disappointed when I came across the notorious Indestructible Walls™.
I had more fun in this than the SW:TFU demo though.

Gotta say I disagree with most posters. Raising and lowering the terrain wasn't that fun. Most of the times that its useful seem to be planned out. It would be cooler if it was more of a sandbox type level design and you'd be able to reach different areas using the terrain in more creative ways rather than following their predetermined route. Sometimes it doesn't even make sense that the terrain would look the way it does and it just doesn't seem organic. I guess nature decided to mold itself in anticipation of a dude with terrain deformation gun. Using the hills as cover was kinda meh... Guns are pretty cool. Certain areas of the environments are pretty destructible but in a very planned out way. After playing bad company and force unleashed I'm really spoiled as far as D-environments go. All FPS' need to have environments like those games or else they aren't going to feel up to date for me anymore.
Game has a very star wars feel to the cut scenes etc. I'm kinda disappointed they couldn't give it a different vibe. It might as well be a star wars game!
The terrain deformation might add some really cool multiplayer gameplay but unless I get a MP demo this isn't going to go anywhere but into the middle of my list of prospective rentals.
And for all you saying that using the force to throw things around is less fun raising and lowering dirt are straight up crazy. By the way, why can't jedi raise or lower ground?
